<p>According to People, a week before Musk finalised his acquisition deal, the 45-year-old former CEO released a press release stating that he is seeking beta testers for his decentralized social app Bluesky.</p>

<p>"The next step is to&nbsp;start testing the protocol. Distributed protocol development is a tricky process," the company shared in a news release last Tuesday.</p>

<p>"It requires coordination from many parties once a network is deployed, so we're going to start in private beta to iron out issues."</p>

<p>"As we beta test, we'll continue to iterate on the protocol specs and share details about how it works. When it's ready, we'll move to the open beta," the company’s statement said, sharing a link to sign up for the&nbsp;beta test's waitlist.</p>

<p>In the press release, the company said that the new app will use an Authenticated Transfer Protocol&nbsp;(AT Protocol), which is a federated social network run by multiple sites instead of a single site.</p>

<p>"The word 'Bluesky' evokes a wide-open space of possibility. It was the original name for this project before it took shape, and continues to be the name of our company," the release stated. "We're calling the application we're building Bluesky because it will be a portal to the world of possibility on top of the AT Protocol," it said.</p>

<p>A US judge on Thursday ordered Twitter to surrender more data to Elon Musk on fake accounts while asking the company to hand over data on 9,000 accounts the firm had audited at the end of 2021.</p>

<p>Musk had alleged Twitter hadn't properly disclosed fake data. Twitter dismissed the allegations while launching lawsuits against Musk. Amid the row, whistleblower Peiter Zatko told US authorities that Twitter allegedly issued untrue statements on account numbers.</p>

<p>According to news outlet NBC, former US President Obama, the most popular person on Twitter with more than 131 million followers, lost 300,000 of them nearly overnight.</p>

<p>Controversial Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, by contrast, gained nearly 100,000 followers on her official congressional Twitter account in just 24 hours.<br />

<p>Greene, a vocal ally of former president Donald Trump whose personal profile was banned by the platform, praised the acquisition.</p>

<p>"Prepare for blue check mark full scale meltdown after @elonmusk seals the deal and I should get my personal Twitter account restored," she tweeted, referencing the site's system for verifying users.</p>

<p>"It really is something how conservative accounts are getting massive follower increases today," Republican Representative Matt Gaetz, another Trump ally, said Tuesday.</p>

<p>Twitter on Tuesday told AFP that while they were monitoring the situation, the fluctuations appeared to be organic and largely due to new accounts being created and existing ones deactivated.</p>

<p>The exodus extended beyond political accounts.</p>

<p>"It's strange to see a loss of some 35,000 followers overnight," the Auschwitz Memorial account posted Tuesday. The profile, which has 1.3 million followers, tweets photos and stories of concentration camp victims.</p>

<p>Musk has said he wants to increase trust in Twitter, which he sees as a digital town square for free speech and debate.</p>

<p>A non-fungible token (NFT) of Twitter founder&nbsp;Jack Dorsey's first tweet that was earlier sold to a crypto investor for $2.9 million was re-listed again for the auction by the current owner for $48 million.</p>

<p>However, much to his dismay, the NFT could only fetch $280.</p>

<p>Before putting up for auction, Iranian-born crypto entrepreneur Sina Estavi had pledged to donate half of the proceeds of NFT sales to the charity, just like Dorsey.</p>

<p>“I decided to sell this NFT (the world's first ever tweet) and donate 50% of the proceeds ( $25 million or more ) to the charity @GiveDirectly,” Estavi had posted on Twitter on April 7.</p>

<p>The auction closed on Wednesday, and only seven offers were made ranging from 0.09 ETH ($277 at current prices) to 0.0019 ETH (almost $6), according to CoinDesk.</p>

<p>Estavi, who purchased the NFT for $2.9 million in March 2021, said that he will wait patiently until a good offer is made.</p>

<p>“The deadline I set was over, but if I get a good offer, I might accept it, I might never sell it,” Estavi told CoinDesk on Wednesday.</p>
