U.S. President Donald Trump has ruled out attacking Iran before the midterm polls. However, a report claimed that U.S. has prepared a secret plan entailing three-day intense strikes on Iran. Even in the past, Trump has often backtracked on his claims pertaining to strikes on Iran.

Is Trump playing a double game with Iran?

Donald Trump once again left people wondering about his mental faculties during a meeting at the Oval Office on Wednesday (Oct 7). Not only did he struggle to stay awake in the midst of journalists and his administrative team, but he also said something so bizarre that left everyone watching wondering if he was seriously saying the words. His latest gaffe comes at a time when he again pitched himself for the Nobel Peace Prize, after repeatedly asking for it last year. Critics have dubbed Trump "deranged" for his bizarre antics, with California Governor Gavin Newsom recently saying he is "mentally ill."&nbsp;The 80-year-old was practically snoozing at the Oval meeting as venture capitalist Brad Gerstner praised his “Trump Accounts” for American children in front of the press. And when he was shaken out of his slumber by a journalist with a question on the plague scare in Russia, the American president blurted out the most unexpected thing.<h2>Trump remembers Putin's birthday when asked about the plague</h2>When asked whether he had spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin about the possible plague outbreak in Siberia, he said, "Today is his birthday. Today is Vladimir Putin’s birthday; I’m sure you’re gonna celebrate it." Trump's words caught everyone in the room by surprise.Also Read: <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/i-should-win-it-trump-renews-nobel-peace-prize-claim-ahead-of-2026-announcement-1791424780096">'I should win it': Trump renews Nobel Peace Prize claim ahead of 2026 announcement</a>&nbsp;Trump said that he had a call set up, and asked the journalist, "Are you gonna celebrate his birthday? Let them take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay." A flabbergasted Newsom said, "Donald Trump is mentally ill. TIME FOR THE 25TH!"&nbsp;He has also repeatedly claimed that he won the presidential elections thrice - 2016, 2020 and 2024 - as he continues to push his belief that he was burgled of a win in the 2020 elections. Trump has also said quite a few times that he wants to run for president again, even though the American Constitution limits it to two terms.<h2>Trump's bizarre ‘vegan’ rant at Texas rally</h2>&nbsp;At a Texas rally on Wednesday, Trump went on a bizarre tirade, telling the crowd that Melania calls him "sir" when correcting his pronunciation of the word "vegan." Trump recalled, "You know, my wife told me 'sir, you have to do me a favor — it's not vay-gan, it's vee-gan.'" He also attacked Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton's Democratic opponent, James Talarico, alleging he pretends to eat meat for political reasons in Texas, but is secretly vegan.&nbsp;"Now he says he loves meat, but he's a vegan — see, Melania? Donald Trump wants the Nobel Peace Prize, but he thinks Putin's birthday is more important than the supposed plague situation in Russia. He is also fine with Iran taking out “two US cities”, and yet he believes he is fit to become president a third time.

More than 90 per cent of American troops stationed at US bases had been moved out of the range of Iranian fire, according to Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth's March comments. Most of the roughly 7,000 troops had been relocated before the war, but more than 100 remained. Following repeated attacks, the remaining soldiers abandoned the base and relocated to remote positions in the Kuwaiti desert.

One soldier described the base as “demolished,” saying, “They hit us bad. It was horrible,” and questioned why reinforcements never arrived.

No U.S. troops were killed by enemy fire at Camp Buehring, but several were injured, including two struck by lightning after relocating to the desert.

<h2>Troops ran low on ammunition</h2>The attacks also exposed concerns about the availability of ammunition and other critical military equipment. Reportedly, the soldiers defending Camp Buehring experienced a critical shortage of .50-calibre ammunition as they were repositioned into the Udari Desert in Kuwait.A senior Army logistics official, who was managing operations from another location in Kuwait, confirmed there were concerns about supplies including .50-calibre ammunition and other high-value munitions such as Patriot missile batteries.The Pentagon ultimately decided to move the remaining troops away from the base. Soldiers packed equipment into vehicles and drove at night into remote areas of the Kuwaiti desert, where temporary forward operating bases, or FOBs, were established.<h2>‘CBKU got demolished’</h2>The service member who spoke anonymously questioned why reinforcements had not been sent to Camp Buehring as the attacks intensified. “CBKU got demolished,” one person told the publication, demanding, “They need to do an investigation. A Defence Department inspector general report released last month identified equipment losses worth as much as $3.7 billion, including nearly 60 aircraft.The Congressional Research Service subsequently reported that 81 fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, including drones, had been lost or damaged by Iran since February, citing news reports and Defence Department statements.The inspector general's report also said US Central Command had recorded Iranian strikes against American bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman and Jordan. Yet visual evidence from many of those attacks has remained scarce till now. Camp Buerhring's newly released footage now offers a close look at the challenges US troops faced early in the conflict, including decisions to spread out forces, leave exposed areas, and push deeper into the Kuwaiti desert. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 The Iran war is putting a growing strain on the global energy system, and oil industry chiefs are warning that the cost cannot be carried by producers alone. Saudi Aramco says global oil stockpiles have become “Scarily thin,” while governments are already spending heavily to shield consumers from higher fuel prices. With crude still around 100 dollars a barrel, the question now is: who pays for the energy shock, producers, governments, or consumers?

U.S stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the s&p 500 and NASDAQ hitting fresh record closing highs, as technology shares LED a broad rally. U.S equity futures were little changed, and Asian markets opened mixed. Take a look at this next report for more.

US-Iran War: Iran war puts global oil supply under growing strain

US President Donald Trump has said the war with Iran will come to an end but warned that the outcome could depend on whether Tehran chooses what he described as the "nice way" or the "not-so-nice way". Speaking at Sparrows Point in Maryland on Tuesday (Oct 6), Trump once again claimed Iran's military had been severely weakened and said the US was in a strong position as the conflict continues. "We're doing extremely well in the Islamic Republic of Iran, very well. They have no military. It's shot; the whole place is shot," Trump said. He described Iran as the former "bully of the Middle East" and said Washington now needed to "finish up". "It's only a question of which way do we want to do it, the nice way or the not-so-nice way? And pretty soon you'll find out," Trump said.Also read | <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/trump-claims-iran-may-be-involved-in-flydubai-cockpit-attack-vows-to-hit-very-hard-if-link-found-1790912849893">Trump claims Iran may be involved in Flydubai cockpit attack, vows to 'hit very hard' if link found</a><h2>Trump claims US blockade has halted Iranian maritime traffic</h2>Trump also pointed to the US military presence around the Strait of Hormuz, describing the operation as a "wall of steel" rather than a blockade. "When I see the wall of steel, which is what it is, that we've done, they call it a blockade, I call it the wall of steel," Trump said. He claimed that no ship had reached Iran and that only vessels permitted by the US were being allowed through. Trump also said the US Navy was ensuring Iran would not obtain a nuclear weapon. "Our Navy is leading the way in ensuring that Iran will never have a nuclear weapon," he said, adding that this was already a "fait accompli". The comments come days after Trump said Washington faced a choice over Iran between the "easy way" and the "hard way". He had also said that Iran had been "decimated".Also read | <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/trump-slams-tennessee-for-murderer-christa-pike-s-failed-lethal-injection-execution-should-be-easy-to-do-1790906336229">Trump slams Tennessee for murderer Christa Pike’s failed lethal injection execution: ‘Should be easy to do’</a><h2>Trump announces new US shipyard project</h2>Trump made the remarks while announcing a major expansion of America's maritime industrial base at Sparrows Point. The combined investment is worth up to $6.6 billion.The facility, known as Arsenal-2, will manufacture critical components for Virginia-class nuclear-powered attack submarines, including torpedo tubes.&nbsp;US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth described the project as the largest US shipyard since World War II. Trump, meanwhile, said the investment would help ensure the US remains the world's leading naval power. "America is going to remain the undisputed naval superpower of the world," he said. The new facility is expected to begin production in 2030 and is part of the administration's broader effort to expand US shipbuilding capacity and address bottlenecks in submarine production. It is expected to create more than 3,100 permanent jobs and support more than 14,000 jobs directly and indirectly.

Trump says Iran ‘decimated’, warns war could end the ‘nice way’ or ‘not-so-nice way’

The ongoing Iran war is putting fresh pressure on global energy markets as concerns grow over oil supplies and shipping routes. Disruptions around the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz have raised fears of further volatility in energy prices. Major oil-consuming nations are closely monitoring supply risks as the conflict continues. The crisis could have wider implications for fuel prices, inflation and the global economy.

Iran war strains energy market as oil supply risks rise

Saudi Arabia is sharply increasing its crude oil exports despite the continuing conflict involving Iran. What’s particularly significant is that Saudi Arabia has been able to increase exports even after a key oil pipeline was damaged in a drone attack

And 69 per cent said a long-term military conflict between the US and Iran was likely, including 32 per cent who considered it very likely. When asked whether the war was worth the toll in American lives and the financial burden on the US government, 76 per cent said it was not, compared with 24 per cent who said it was worth the costs. Only 29 per cent approve of his handling of foreign affairs, against 71 per cent who disapprove. That is down from 39 per cent approval in January and 36 per cent in March. The poll also found that just 20 per cent believe Trump's foreign-policy decisions have helped America's standing in the world. By contrast, 65 per cent say those decisions have hurt the country's standing.

A new CNN/SSRS poll finds just 26% of Americans approve of Donald Trump’s handling of the Iran conflict, down from 33% in March. Even among Republicans, approval has fallen as more Americans question the war’s direction and costs.

Diplomatic tensions between the US and Iran remain at a precipice as both leaders arrive in New York for the UN General Assembly. President Donald Trump signaled he is "open" to meeting Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines, even as Washington weighs new military and economic pressures. Meanwhile, Tehran's military leadership declared it is prepared for a long-term war, threatening to deploy new, undisclosed weapons and strike unprecedented regional targets if US attacks resume.

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung on Friday (Sep 18) ruled out sending troops or military assets into the Iran war, saying Seoul would protect its interests without entering the conflict. He added that it was “clear” that US President Donald Trump wants dialogue with Pyongyang. This comes amid reports suggesting that Seoul was considering a possible role in the strategic Strait of Hormuz, which has been disrupted since the war began in the Middle East. The disruption of the key route has sent oil prices across the globe to record highs.“There will be no involvement or intervention in the war. A UN fact-finding mission says there are reasonable grounds to believe
The US carried out strikes on civilian sites in Iran in February. The findings focus on a school strike in Minab that killed 156 civilians,
Including 120 children, and a separate strike on a sports facility. The UN says the attacks may constitute war crimes. The findings come just days before world leaders gather in New York for the UN General Assembly’s high-level week.

The consequences now extend far beyond Yemen.The Houthis have advanced toward the Bab el-Mandeb, the narrow maritime gateway connecting the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden. The Houthis are demonstrating military reach. Washington is exploring diplomacy. And global commerce remains exposed to whatever happens around the Red Sea.Saudi Arabia's warning over Mecca therefore carries significance far beyond one intercepted drone.Because declaring a red line is the easy part.The harder question is what happens when an adversary decides to test it.

The cost of US President Donald Trump's war on Iran has risen to an estimated $38.1 billion till August, according to a report released by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO). Iran used its Kheibar Shekan missile on US military targets and infrastructure in the Middle East this week. The missile, which means Castle Breaker in Persian, has emerged as an important weapon in Tehran's arsenal in its war against the US. While Donald Trump has been claiming that Iran no longer has many weapons, the country has been demonstrating that that's not true by using the medium-range ballistic missile to hit enemy targets.&nbsp;US and Iran renewed strikes this week after the former attacked rocket launchers on Iran’s Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz. In response, Iran struck several US bases in the region, such as Jordan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Kheibar Shekan missile has emerged as a massive force in these strikes.<h2>What is Kheibar Shekan missile?</h2> Developed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), it is a medium-range missile capable of striking targets 1,450km away. It can carry a warhead weighing 449kg to 590kg. The missile was launched in 2022; the word Kheibar means a fortified settlement, while Shekan means breaker or destroyer.&nbsp;It is a solid-fuel missile, which means it is pre-loaded with fuel. Typically, adding fuel to missiles can take hours. But since the Kheibar already has the needed fuel, it saves crucial time in a moment of crisis and can be launched within minutes. They are easier to operate and become harder to detect because of this logistical advantage.&nbsp;Solid fuel also means that it does not break down even if stored inside the missiles for a long time. Since it is extremely dense, it burns quickly and provides a powerful thrust to the missile.&nbsp;

It recently used them to carry out retaliatory attacks on US assets in Jordan. Iran used the missiles to hit a US jet maintenance facility and a new command-and-control centre in Jordan’s Azraq. IRGC has also released videos showing the Kheibar Shekan missiles being used in conjunction with Fateh-110, Zolfaghar and Emad ballistic missiles.&nbsp;<h2>Iran's missile arsenal</h2> Iran has both short- and medium-range missiles. Fateh variants - Zolfaghar, Qiam-1 and Shahab-1/2 - have a range of roughly 150km to 800km. The medium-range ballistic missiles include Shahab-3, Emad, Ghadr-1, the Khorramshahr variants and Sejjil, Haj Qassem and Kheibar Shekan. It cruise missiles include Soumar, Ya-Ali, the Quds variants, Hoveyzeh, Paveh and Ra’ad.

In response, Iran struck several US bases in the region, such as Jordan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Kheibar Shekan missile has emerged as a massive force in these strikes. What is Kheibar Shekan missile? Developed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), it is a medium-range missile capable of striking targets 1,450km away. It can carry a warhead weighing 449kg to 590kg. The missile was launched in 2022; the word Kheibar means a fortified settlement, while Shekan means breaker or destroyer. It is a solid-fuel missile, which means it is pre-loaded with fuel. Typically, adding fuel to missiles can take hours. But since the Kheibar already has the needed fuel, it saves crucial time in a moment of crisis and can be launched within minutes. They are easier to operate and become harder to detect because of this logistical advantage. Solid fuel also means that it does not break down even if stored inside the missiles for a long time. Since it is extremely dense, it burns quickly and provides a powerful thrust to the missile.

US-Iran war: Iran has been attacking US targets in the Middle East with its newer Kheibar Shekan ballistic missiles. The medium-range missile was recently used against a US jet maintenance facility and a new command-and-control centre in Jordan’s Azraq.&nbsp;
