US will bomb Iran's bridge, power plant after every attack on ships in Strait of Hormuz: Trump

A heated exchange between Senator Gary Peters and Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth became the defining moment of a Senate hearing on the Trump administration’s handling of the Iran war, with Peters accusing the Pentagon leadership of failing to deliver a clear path to victory. During the hours-long hearing, the Democrat sharply criticised the administration’s approach, saying its efforts had been “an utter and complete failure to win this war.”Hegseth pushed back strongly, arguing that such remarks undermined the efforts of US troops deployed on the front lines. “I think your characterisation of this incredible effort as a failure is reckless and I think it’s irresponsible and I think it smears the sacrifice of the troops that are out there making on behalf of the American people to ensure that Iran never gets a nuclear weapon,” he said. “Shame on you and others who call this a quagmire and a failure and then you want to turn around and say you support the warfighter. Either you do or you don’t.”But Peters fired back, turning the criticism directly toward the defence secretary.“You, sir, are the failure,” Peters said, clarifying that his criticism was aimed at Pentagon leadership and not the military personnel carrying out missions overseas.“Not the men and women who are on that front line, not the men and women who hold up their honour with distinction,” Peters added, raising his voice during the exchange. The senator accused Hegseth and the administration of lacking a long-term strategy for the conflict, repeatedly demanding answers on how Washington planned to end the war.“You don’t have a strategy. You don’t have a long-term plan to actually win this war. The men and women are going to be able to do it, but they need to have leadership. When will you show leadership?” Peters questioned.Dismissing the allegations, the defence secretary accused Democrats of engaging in partisan attacks and claiming they were failing to support funding for American troops. He also accused Peters of having “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”The confrontation came as Hegseth and Gen. Dan Caine defended the Pentagon’s request for $87.6 billion in additional funding, much of which would support ongoing military operations in the Middle East. Hegseth told lawmakers that the Iran war had already cost the US an estimated $37.5 billion, with expenses projected through the end of the fiscal year. The hearing saw lawmakers from both parties demand greater transparency, with several Democrats questioning conflicting statements from the administration over the impact of US strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

As West Asia remains on the boil, has the U.S. been hiding its troops' injuries? What's happening behind the scenes? As intelligence reports say U.S. strikes are unlikely to make Iran kneel, what's the strategy?

Hit, bruised by Iran, America hides war casualties

West Asia remained on an edge as U.S. conducted strikes on Iran for the ninth consecutive evening. Iran retaliated with attacks on Kuwait, Jordan, Syria and Bahrain. Even as fighting continued, both U.S. and Iran have expressed willingness for a diplomatic solution. As per reports, mediators have suggested a 10-day pause in hostilities to revive the MoU.

As conflict in the Gulf pushes oil prices higher, consumers are paying more at the fuel pump, but oil companies are cashing in. A new analysis by Global Witness claims the world's top 100 oil and gas firms earned nearly 30 million dollars every hour in windfall profits during the early days of the Iran conflict.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards say two unidentified oil tankers exploded after hitting mines while trying to cross the Strait of Hormuz, but the claim didn't survive contact with Washington. US Central Command shot back on X: "Like most IRGC claims, this is false." Iran also says it "stopped" four more ships attempting to pass through the strait. Neither claim has been independently verified, as the vital shipping route remains effectively closed amid a week of escalating US-Iran strikes.

As tensions reach a boiling point, U.S. forces have conducted a sixth consecutive night of airstrikes across southern Iran, specifically targeting critical transportation infrastructure. Iranian state media reports that at least five bridges—including key logistical routes like the Gariveh and Kahurestan bridges—were struck, severely impacting internal mobility.

The United States escalated its renewed bombing campaign on Iran on Friday by hitting bridges and an airport, and Tehran responded with strikes on U.S. bases across the Middle East. Iran's IRGC struck US forward bases in Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Syria and Bahrain with coordinated salvos of advanced ballistic and massive missiles, plus drone swarms. Tehran says the strikes respond to heavy US bombardment and blockade measures. We unpack the weapons used Fattah, Khaibar Shekan, Zolfaghar, Fateh. The conflict between the United States and Iran has entered its fifth consecutive day as U.S. forces launched another wave of strikes targeting Iranian military capabilities that Washington says threaten shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian state media reported explosions in several cities, including Bandar Abbas, Rask, Chabahar, Qeshm, Bandar Imam Khomeini, and areas near Bushehr, where Iran's only civilian nuclear power plant is located. The U.S. Central Command also confirmed that it targeted a vessel accused of attempting to violate the renewed naval blockade on Iranian ports, while Iran reportedly responded by launching attacks against U.S. military positions in Bahrain and Kuwait.

Who really benefitted from the Iran war?

Hunter Biden has taken a major swipe at Donald Trump for not being able to bring the war in Iran to an end. In an X post, former President Joe Biden's son wrote, "I am officially nominating Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) for the Nobel Peace Prize. No President in History has ended the same war so many times." United States and Tehran have reached a ceasefire a few times and finally signed the MoU on June 17, 2026. However, despite the ceasefire, drone and missile strikes targeted commercial vessels navigating the Strait of Hormuz. On June 26, a Singapore-flagged commercial ship was hit by an explosive drone, damaging the upper deck. A day later, a Panama-flagged tanker came under projectile attack. President Trump ordered the US military to retaliate with airstrikes on targets inside Iran. U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) targeted several coastal locations, including Iranian missile storage facilities, drone launch sites and coastal radar networks. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)said the US was in breach of the newly signed MoU and launched massive counter-attacks.

Biden demands Nobel Peace Prize for Trump
Biden mocked Trump for demanding the Nobel Peace Prize multiple times, claiming that he had successfully settled or prevented "eight major wars", saving millions of lives. "They don't think eight wars are enough, even though nobody has ever done one... In theory, you should get the Nobel Prize for every war you stopped," Trump said months ago. Biden wrote in his post, "Our Dear Leader has ended the war with Iran at least 38 times by CNN’s count. No President has ever done this before. And he is nowhere near finished ending it."He called on the Nobel Prize committee to take note of Trump's achievement. "It’s a record worthy of the Nobel committee’s recognition. Thank you for your attention to this matter!" His post garnered mixed reactions, with some joining in the mockery, while others took a shot back at Hunter. "It was 100 wars Hunter …geez get your facts straight," a user wrote, sharing the screenshot of a Truth Social post by Trump in which he declared "some say I have stopped over 100 wars."
People call Biden ‘crackhead’, others say he makes a valid point
People started attacking Hunter Binder in the comments, calling him a "crackhead" and recalling the time when a bag of coke was found in the White House. They called him out for his personal life, with one writing, "You're one of the most disgraceful individuals to ever enter public life." Meanwhile, others admitted that Hunter may have been in the wrong in several other things, but he makes a valid point in this case. "Ok he actually says something good weather or not you believe him," a user wrote. Another said, "Not a big fan of mister Hunter Biden here, but this is pretty funny I have to admit." The control over the Strait of Hormuz has been a major point of contention in peace negotiations. Iran wants to charge tolls, but the US and Gulf nations are against it.

Hunter Biden says Donald Trump should get the Nobel Peace Prize for stopping the same war multiple times. The Iran War is still continuing, with the US and Iran launching attacks and counter-attacks. Not everyone was amused by his post, although some admitted he had a point.
