There is a lot of hype around the reboot of 'Sex and The City' which will be streaming on HBO Max. While its known that the show will have three of its original leading ladies back, not much is known about the rest of the cast.

Some fans have wonder whether Justin Theroux would return for the upcoming series. The star weighed in on whether he would join the reboot after guest-starring on the original show twice.

When questioned about starring in the revival, the 49-year-old actor joked about not yet receiving correspondence from the lead Sarah Jessica Parker."Let me check my email or see if anyone called. I still have no email from Sarah Jessica," he told E! News on Thursday.

Theroux is not a part of the star cast currently, but he revealed that he would gladly act alongside Parker once again if the opportunity arose.

He said, "Yeah, of course. I would love to. If they wanted to have me, I`d do Sex and the City again."

The actor, interestingly, played two different men when he appeared on the HBO show first in 1998 and 1999.

During season one`s `The Monogamists` he was an acquaintance of Carrie`s (Parker) friend Stanford (Willie Garson) named Jared. In the second season`s `Shortcomings` episode, Theroux showed up as Vaughn Wysel, a short-story writer who Carrie briefly dates.

Carrie calls things off with Vaughn after she realises that she is more in love with his family than she is with him.

The actor joked about how he was able to score two cameos on the hit series, calling the show a "rite of passage" for New York-based actors.

Theroux said, "The joke is that show -- because it was such a wild success and those girls dated around so much -- [was] that they basically went through every actor in New York City. So, it just, sort of, the pinwheel came back and the arrow pointed at me, and I was, like, `I guess I gotta do another one.`"

Theroux pointed to `Shortcomings` as the favourite of his appearances, due to the fact that he got to act alongside two highly-accomplished actors."I got to work with the beautiful and hilarious Valerie Harper, who I love, and of course Sarah Jessica, who`s such a shiny penny and so much fun to work with, so great. Also, those writers on that show were hilarious," he said.

'Sex and the City' ran for six seasons on HBO from 1998 to 2004 and led to two spinoff films in 2008 and 2010. Parker starred alongside Kim Cattrall (Samantha Jones), Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbes) and Kristin Davis (Charlotte York) in the series and subsequent movies. It was announced in January that a revival series, titled `And Just Like That`, is in the works at HBO Max.

Cattrall, who has a complicated history with Parker, is the only original star who has chosen not to return for the reboot.

The following month, Page Six reported that Carrie`s love interest and eventual husband, Mr Big, played by actor Chris Noth, would not be returning for the new series.
`The Law and Order` alum addressed the casting speculation in February. "Everything changes -- including announcements in the rags," he wrote via Instagram, hinting that he may come back in some capacity.

David Eigenberg, who played Miranda`s husband, Steve Brady, exclusively told Us Weekly earlier this month that he is still toying with a possible cameo."I really love that show," the 56-year-old actor said on Tuesday.

"I think it`s really interesting that they`ve brought it back," he added.

The upcoming series will consist of 10 half-hour episodes and is set to begin production in New York City in late spring. No release date for the show has been announced yet.

To Black Americans in the 1960s who were targeted and harassed by the police, 21-year-old Fred Hampton was an empowering figure.

To the FBI and its director, J. Edgar Hoover, Hampton, the chairman of the Illinois Black Panther Party, was a radical threat.

Hampton was killed by Chicago police officers early on the morning of Dec. 4, 1969, during a raid on his West Side apartment, which was a block south of the Black Panther Party’s Chicago headquarters. The ambush, and the months of FBI surveillance of Hampton and the Panthers that preceded it, are dramatized in Shaka King’s film “Judas and the Black Messiah,” which began streaming Friday on HBO Max.

At the time of Hampton’s death, Chicago was the site of political protests and violent clashes with law enforcement. The infamous trial of the Chicago 7, a court battle that involved seven Vietnam War protesters charged with conspiring to incite riots during the 1968 Democratic National Convention (a saga chronicled in Aaron Sorkin’s recent film “The Trial of the Chicago 7”), had been underway for a little over two months.

King, who co-wrote the script with Will Berson, drew mostly from fact while taking viewers inside the Black Panther Party in the months leading up to Hampton’s death, though they took a few dramatic liberties. For instance, the film’s star, Daniel Kaluuya, is a decade older than the 21-year-old Hampton was when he was killed.

Here is a guide to the real-life people, groups and events that feature in “Judas and the Black Messiah.” Be warned, there are spoilers, if such a thing is possible when speaking of history.

Who were the Black Panthers?

The Black Panther Party was founded in 1966 in Oakland, California, by a pair of Black college students, Bobby Seale and Huey P. Newton, to oppose police brutality and racism in local neighborhoods. The Panthers, who were known for their military-style black berets, leather jackets and raised-fist salute, believed in removing abusive officers from communities by any means necessary, including armed resistance.

The FBI viewed the Panthers as a radical group capable of galvanizing a militant Black nationalist movement. (Hoover, the bureau’s first director, called the Black Panther Party “the greatest threat to the internal security of the country”). But the Panthers also launched a number of social initiatives: Members ran medical clinics, provided free transportation to prisons for family members of inmates, and started a free breakfast program that fed thousands of schoolchildren.

Who was Fred Hampton?

The charismatic community organizer enjoyed a meteoric rise that took him from campaigning for an integrated community pool and recreational center in his hometown, Maywood, Illinois, to preaching to thousands as the chairman of the Illinois Black Panther Party.

In 1969, a few months after helping to found the party’s Illinois chapter, the 20-year-old Hampton brokered an alliance he called the Rainbow Coalition, which united the Black Panthers, the Young Patriots (Southern white leftists) and the Young Lords (a Puerto Rican civil and human rights organization) in an effort to combat poverty and racism in their Chicago communities.

Hampton’s rapid ascent through the ranks of the Black Panther Party landed him in the cross hairs of a secret FBI counterintelligence program, known as Cointelpro, that Hoover formed to “expose, disrupt, misdirect, discredit or otherwise neutralize the activities of Black nationalist, hate-type organizations.” Targets included both the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and the Ku Klux Klan. Hoover declared in an internal memo that he sought to prevent the “rise of a ‘messiah’ who could unify and electrify the militant Black nationalist movement.”

Under Cointelpro, the FBI tried a number of tactics to sow discord within the Black Panther Party at the national and local levels, including sending bogus letters to two of its leaders, Eldridge Cleaver and Huey Newton, which claimed that each sought to depose the other. Authorities also arrested Hampton and several other Panthers in an effort to publicly discredit the group.

In the months before the raid on Hampton’s apartment, the Panthers and the police also faced off in two gunbattles: One in July 1969 at the party’s West Side headquarters in which five police officers and three Panthers were injured, and a South Side fight that November that left two officers and one Panther dead.

Who was William O’Neal?

At 17, O’Neal (Lakeith Stanfield in the movie) already had a criminal record when the FBI agent Roy Mitchell (Jesse Plemons) tracked him down after he stole a car in 1966. But O’Neal soon took on a new role: FBI informant. Given the choice between facing felony charges or agreeing to infiltrate the Panthers, he opted for the latter: as a security captain in the Illinois Black Panther Party, he infiltrated Hampton’s inner circle.

In 1969, O’Neal sketched a floor plan of Hampton’s West Side apartment, including where everyone slept, which the FBI then shared with the Chicago Police Department, the agency that conducted the fatal raid. But unlike the character in “Judas and the Black Messiah,” the real O’Neal did not see his actions as a betrayal of Hampton or the Panthers. “I had no allegiance to the Panthers,” he recalled in an interview for the PBS docuseries “Eyes on the Prize,” which chronicled the history of the civil rights movement in the United States.

What happened the morning Fred Hampton was killed?

Fourteen Chicago police officers showed up before dawn on Dec. 4, 1969, at Hampton’s apartment, acting on the orders of Edward V. Hanrahan, the Cook County state’s attorney. Over the course of about 10 minutes, more than 80 shots were fired. When the smoke cleared, Hampton, 21, and another party leader, Mark Clark, 22, were dead, and four other Panthers and two police officers were wounded.

At first, the police claimed they killed Hampton in self-defense after people in the apartment began firing shotguns at them as they tried to execute a search warrant for illegal weapons. But ballistics experts determined that only one of the bullets was probably discharged from a weapon belonging to an occupant of the apartment. A federal grand jury investigation also revealed that the “bullet holes” in the apartment’s front door, which officers had cited as evidence that the Panthers had shot at them, were in fact nail holes created by police.

Though the Chicago Police Department had led the raid, the grand jury concluded that it had been coordinated by the FBI as part of Hoover’s mission to cripple the Black Panther Party — and an FBI memo later revealed that the bureau had authorized a bonus payment to O’Neal.

The first federal grand jury declined to indict anyone involved in the raid, and though a subsequent grand jury indicted Hanrahan and the police officers who participated in the shootings, all the charges were dismissed. In 1982, without admitting any wrongdoing, the federal government, the city of Chicago and Cook County agreed to pay $1.85 million to the families of Hampton and Clark and to survivors of the raid.

Clarence M. Kelley, who succeeded Hoover as head of the FBI in 1973, issued a public apology three years later for the bureau’s abuse of power in the “twilight” of Hoover’s career. “Some of those activities were clearly wrong and quite indefensible,” Kelley said. “We most certainly must never allow them to be repeated.”

Hoover declared in an internal memo that he sought to prevent the “rise of a ‘messiah’ who could unify and electrify the militant Black nationalist movement.” Under Cointelpro, the FBI tried a number of tactics to sow discord within the Black Panther Party at the national and local levels, including sending bogus letters to two of its leaders, Eldridge Cleaver and Huey Newton, which claimed that each sought to depose the other. HBO Max drops glimpses of 'Mortal Kombat', 'Suicide Squad', 'Conjuring 3' and more

Good news for all the Harry Potter fans out there! A Harry Potter live-action TV series is in early development at HBO Max.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources say that executives at the WarnerMedia-backed streamer have engaged in multiple conversations with potential writers exploring various ideas that would bring the beloved property to television.

As of now, no writers or talent are currently attached as the conversations are still in the extremely early stages and no deals have been made. "There are no Harry Potter series in development at the studio or on the streaming platform," HBO Max and Warner Bros. reaffirmed in a statement to THR.

Expanding the world of Harry Potter remains a top priority for HBO Max and Warner Bros., which along with creator J.K. Rowling, controls rights to the property. Harry Potter is one of Warners' most valuable pieces of IP and people associated with the franchise has been at the center of controversies (JK Rowling & Johnny Depp)

News that talks are underway for a Harry Potter TV series should come as no surprise given the value of the franchise to Warner Bros. Rowling's seven-book series was adapted as eight feature films that grossed more than $7 billion worldwide. Warners also has the Fantastic Beasts prequel series of films, with the third set to bow next year and two more likely to come afterward.

The platform is the streaming home of DC Comics films, with multiple TV spinoffs and originals already in the works. The streamer is also the home of mega-hit Friends (with a reunion planned to film in March for the service), Game of Thrones and all of HBO's originals, including Sex and the City. The latter was recently revived with three of its original stars returning for a new TV series as HBO Max leans into its IP to become a must-have subscription service. (It's also worth noting that HBO is building out its Game of Thrones arsenal with multiple other projects in the works, all of which would eventually live on HBO Max.)

According to THR, The Harry Potter franchise has complicated rights issues. Rowling controls the franchise and has a say in everything involving the property. NBCUniversal in 2016 inked a rich seven-year rights deal with Warner Bros. Domestic TV Distribution that included U.S. broadcast, cable, and streaming rights to the Wizarding World franchise. That deal, which ends in April 2025, included digital initiatives as well as theme park content and events.

The pact also meant Warners execs had to make a side deal that allowed all of the Harry Potter features to briefly stream on HBO Max when the service launched last May. The films left the service after three months and will return to NBCUniversal's recently launched streamer, Peacock, at a date to be determined later this year.

HBO Max set to stream Lynda Carter's 'Wonder Woman' 1970s TV series ahead of 'WW84' premiere

With the changing cinema landscape amid the coronavirus pandemic, director Patty Jenkins says it is "questionable" whether a third film in the "Wonder Woman" franchise will be made following Warner Bros' decision to opt for a theatrical-and-digital model to release its films.

Earlier this month, Warner Bros, the studio behind DC's "Wonder Woman" movies, announced a "unique one-year plan" as a strategic response to the impact of the pandemic, particularly in the US, where its entire slate of films for the year 2021 will be released both theatrically and on its streamer HBO Max.

Gal Gadot-starrer "Wonder Woman 1984", a sequel to 2017 blockbuster "Wonder Woman", will debut on HBO Max as well as movie theatres on Christmas in the US.

Jenkins, who also directed the original, said she would love to come back for a third installment only when Warner Bros "goes back to being a full theatrical studio".

"Before the pandemic, the world would have gone along. We probably would have even made a deal for 'Wonder Woman 3' and figured out when and how I could fit that into my schedule.

"Now it all really is much more questionable whether we will do it at all and how we will do it. So, that's going to be an interesting thing. I would still love to do it but only (if) Warner Bros goes back to being a full theatrical studio," the director told PTI in an exclusive telephonic interview from Los Angeles.

Like all industries, entertainment too bore the brunt of the health crisis with productions halting and theatres shut earlier this year everywhere. Many studios postponed the releases, went the digital way or took the hybrid route of virtual-and-selected theatrical screenings, like "Wonder Woman 1984".

Asked if the pandemic had altered the cinema experience, Jenkins said COVID-19 has been a "nail in the coffin of things that some people wanted to change".

"However, I don't think this is a done deal. People love the theatrical experience and I feel like there's going to be an interesting backlash from a lot of artistes in the filmmaking community, including myself, to just changing things for the sake of it. A lot of us are going to fight pretty hard to go back to the theatrical experience only when this is over," she added.

Directors Christopher Nolan, whose latest movie "Tenet" was released by Warner Bros in theatres, and Denis Villeneuve, whose upcoming "Dune" is among 17 films that are set to be available both theatrically and on the streamer, have criticised the studio for the decision.

This line-up that Warner Bros plans to release in 2021 will be available to HBO Max subscribers for 31 days in the US. After the one-month mark, the films will only play in theatres.

With the changing cinema landscape amid the coronavirus pandemic, director Patty Jenkins says it is "questionable" whether a third film in the "Wonder Woman" franchise will be made following Warner Bros' decision to opt for a theatrical-and-digital model to release its films.

The studio had originally dated Villeneuve's "Dune", which is an official adaptation of author Frank Herbert's classic 1965 novel, for December 18 this year but the pandemic forced it to postpone the release to October 1, 2021.
Orlando Bloom was initially apprehensive to voice Prince Harry's character in HBO Max's new animated series 'The Prince'.

In a recent interview to The Hollywood Reporter, Bloom revealed that he was initially reluctant to voice the character in Gary Janetti’s show but it was his fiancee Katy Perry who convinced him to say yes.

“Initially, I was like, ‘Hmm, how do I feel about this?’ because I'm a British boy who's actually very proud of my roots,” explained Bloom. "I've always understood it as part of my heritage and background, and I'm not someone who wants to poke fun at anyone normally, but this was so clever, witty and affectionately done.”

'The Prince' is an animated satire on Britain's Royal Family that focusses on Prince William and Kate Middleton's son, Prince George. It has originated from Janetti's popular Instagram account which has nearly 1 million followers.

Bloom revealed it was Perry who helped him say 'yes' to the project. “Katy was like, ‘You've got to do this. This is genius.’”

Bloom now hopes that Prince Harry will take it all in stride. “I hadn't met him when I signed up to do it, and I subsequently met him and he's such a nice guy and he's got a great sense of humor. I hope he maintains his sense of humor through this because they're sort of on a pedestal. We're showing real adoration to them in one form or another.”

He added that he would still give the Prince, who has moved to LA with wife Megan Markle and son Archie, a heads up before it airs. "I'm going to have to mention it to Prince Harry when I next see him, because I'm sure I'm going to see him at some point, just because of the nature of the universe. It always throws people together, right?”

Bloom and Perry are expecting their first child, a girl, later this year.

"If people are really doing their homework, we may be poised to have our most informed, honest, and productive national conversations yet about Black lives on screen and off," Stweart concluded.
