In a tragic incident that has shocked the city of Gandhinagar, a 50-year-old woman, daughter of a retired an IAS officer, died of rabies after being bitten by a pet dog that was reportedly vaccinated. 

The incident has raised concerns about rabies awareness, timely medical care, and responsible pet ownership.

The bite occurred around four months ago when the woman was bitten by a Beagle owned by a staff member at the school where she worked. 

Although the dog had been vaccinated, the woman did not receive immediate post-exposure rabies treatment, a crucial step in preventing the deadly infection.

&nbsp;Experts stress that vaccination of a dog does not completely eliminate the risk, and timely medical attention for the bite is essential.

The dog later showed symptoms consistent with rabies and died on October 17. 

In late December, the woman began developing symptoms of the disease, including fever, fatigue, and neurological issues, prompting her admission to a private hospital near Bhat Circle on December 30. 

Despite intensive treatment for about 15 days, she succumbed to the disease on January 17.

Cyber fraud cases are increasing significantly across India, and in a recent operation, the Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Unit has arrested three accused for allegedly issuing and circulating fraudulently activated SIM cards and then selling them to international cybercrime syndicates.&nbsp;

The arrested individuals – Vijay Rawal, Shubham Paradiya, and Kiran Thakkar – allegedly misused customer documents to activate multiple SIM cards and sent them overseas through local agents.

“During our investigation, we found that SIM cards were routed to Dubai, Cambodia, and Myanmar, where large-scale cyber fraud operations are allegedly run by Chinese networks,” said an official.&nbsp;

To figure out how the scam came to light, police began investigating after a Chandlodia resident was defrauded using a SIM card obtained without his knowledge.&nbsp;The accused Raval had taken his documents under the pretext of transferring an existing number, but instead used them to issue a new SIM card.

According to the details, the accused Raval ran a makeshift SIM-issuing centre and fraudulently got the victim’s documents. Raval then claimed that the server was down and assured the victim that the SIM would get auto-activated. &nbsp;

He used the documents to get an Airtel SIM, which later helped in a digital arrest scam. It was also used in operations that lured youth to Southeast Asian countries and trapped them in cyber-slavery.&nbsp;

Raval led cops to Pradia, who revealed he bought pre-activated SIM cards from Raval for Rs 700 each and sold them to Thakkar, who sold them to the gang members for Rs 1200 each.&nbsp;

The operative told Gohil that she worked with the Pakistani Navy and would pay him INR 200 per day ($2.3/day) if he provided info about the names and number of Coast Guard ships arriving at the Okha jetty and their movement.

Officials revealed that the repairman was paid about $500 over the last seven months. The amount was transferred to the bank accounts of three of Gohil’s friends as the repairman didn’t have one of his own.

A press release by IMD for the Saurashtra and Kutch region states, "heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places and extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely on 27th August; heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely on 28th &amp; 29th August and heavy rainfall at isolated places on 30th August."

Baroda received maximum rainfall in the state of 280 mm between 8:30 am on August 26 and 5:30 am on August 27. While 120 mm of rain was recorded in Ahmedabad and 190 mm in Rajkot.

The state has been witnessing a flood-like situation since Monday after which National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams carried out rescue and relief operations.

"The water level increased in the morning, causing water to enter the Hanuman Bhagda and Valsad areas, disrupting road connectivity. We rescued a pregnant woman," NDRF inspector Ramesh Kumar told ANI.

The weather department has predicted heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Gangetic West Bengal regions over the next two days.

IMD has issued a yellow alert for Delhi on Tuesday as light to moderate rainfall is expected, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds.

Heavy rainfall warning has also been issued for seven districts of Himachal Pradesh including Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi and Bilaspur.&nbsp;

As soon as Jeetubhai plugged it in, it exploded, causing serious injuries to his eyes and chest.

The parcel was delivered through an auto-rickshaw.

The auto-rickshaw driver was soon apprehended by the police and the ensuing interrogation revealed that the parcel was sent by Jayantibhai.

Based on the driver’s statements, the accused was soon located and arrested.

Jayantibhai was grieved as he was against the marriage of his former girlfriend to Jeetubhai.

To build the explosive tape recorder, Jayantibhai travelled to Rajasthan to arrange all the required items. He used gelatin sticks and a detonator which was set off as soon as the "tape recorder" was plugged in, he reportedly revealed to police.

Jeetubhai’s two other daughters have been referred to Ahmedabad for further treatment as they sustained critical injuries in their eyes and chest.

According to police, Jeetubhai’s wife was not present in the house when the explosion occurred.

Police said the investigation is going on into the matter.

Media reports said that two police officers were also among the dead. Authorities have shut down the flyover near the ISKCON temple for now.
