Sergio Aguero recalled how he thought FC Barcelona's social media accounts were hacked when the club announced Lionel Messi's exit last year. Messi left his boyhood club FC Barcelona 17 years after making his debut for the senior team in 2003. His contract at the club had expired in 2021 and the Argentine great offered to reduce his salary but Barcelona's poor financial situation and La Liga's Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules meant his contract was not renewed.

His exit from Barcelona had sent shockwaves around the world as Messi was expected to finish his career at the Spanish club having spent over two decades at the Camp Nou after joining the club at the tender age of 6. However, it was not meant to be as Messi joined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) as a free agent after leaving Barcelona.

Former Argentina and Barcelona striker Aguero, who is a close friend of Messi, revealed he was shocked when he came to know about his departure from the club. Aguero had joined Barcelona from Manchester City just a few months before Messi's exit from the club was finalised.

The duo never managed to play a game together for the Catalan club and the news of Messi's departure initially felt like a joke to Aguero. “How did I find out about Messi’s departure from Barça? I was with Ibai, drinking mate and suddenly… he looks at the phone and says to me: ‘No, is this true?’ and shows me the phone with the Barça official announcement," Aguero recalled in an interview with Jose Alvarez.

“When Barcelona announced Messi’s departure I thought someone had hacked Barça’s social networks. I thought it was a joke," he added.

Months later, Aguero had to retire from football after being diagnosed with a heart condition. Despite not having managed to play with him at Barcelona, Aguero played with Messi for several years for their national team Argentina. Their friendship goes back to the time when the duo had first met during a junior training camp with the national team.

While Aguero was part of Argentina's U-16 squad, Messi was playing for the U-20 squad. The duo became friends ever since then and shared some great moments on the pitch playing for their country. Recalling the first time he met Messi, Aguero revealed he didn't recognise him despite the Argentine legend already being a household name in the country's football circuit at the time.

"I said quietly to him 'what's your name again', and he says 'Leo'. And I said 'No. What's your name?' And he said 'Lionel' and laughed. 'And your surname?', 'Messi.' My two friends looked at me and said 'You don't know who it is?'" - Aguero said recalling his first meeting with Messi.

As per a report in French publication Le Parisien, Neymar has been directly offered to Manchester City this summer. “I am sorry for them because the information they have received is false. Neymar is an incredible player and by my information, he is a nice guy. Let him express himself at Paris. Manchester City bought 150 players every summer, and it is not true. I am sorry for Neymar, of course," he added.

Manchester City have once again significantly strengthened their squad ahead of the new season with the arrivals of the like of Erlin Haaland, and Kalvin Philips. City have further bolstered their attack by roping in highly-rated Argentine striker Julain Alvarez.

New coach Erik ten Hag warned that there was still a lot more work to do after Manchester United beat Crystal Palace 3-1 on Tuesday with Anthony Martial scoring his third goal in three pre-season games.

In front of 76,500 fans at Melbourne Cricket Ground, French forward Martial struck in the first half while Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho both collected their second goals of the pre-season tour after the restart.

Joel Ward pulled one back for Palace, but they were always chasing a game that saw United reduced to 10 men in the dying minutes after Will Fish was sent off for a deliberate foul. Another sour note was the reaction of some fans to Harry Maguire, with suggestions that the United skipper was the target of boos.

But it was a mostly positive evening, the friendly victory Ten Hag's third since taking over after their 4-0 thumping of Liverpool in Bangkok and a 4-1 win over Melbourne Victory. In contrast, it was a second straight defeat for Patrick Vieira's young Palace side, who crashed 2-0 to Liverpool in Singapore on Friday.

"We are happy with the improvement we are seeing, but there is also a lot of work to do," said Ten Hag. "We did score some wonderful goals, that's true.

"We played well and I think the belief is increasing," he added while praising his forwards in particular. They did a lot of running, a lot of work. They have a lot of energy and were rewarded by scoring goals."

The Dutchman is beginning to stamp his mark on the Old Trafford side, with his team -- who finished a disappointing sixth last season in the Premier League -- producing some fluid, one-touch football.

Goalkeeper David de Gea returned after missing the Victory game with a niggle. New left-back Tyrell Malacia began ahead of Luke Shaw, while Rashford was back in the starting line-up after scoring as a substitute against Victory, partnering a rejuvenated Martial and Sancho in Cristiano Ronaldo's absence.

Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez, Ten Hag's other new signings, are not in Australia. Vieira has a youthful squad in Australia, with a number of senior players not making the trip.

Hungry for goals, United made a confident start, dominating early possession, with Palace goalkeeper Jack Butland making a fine stop from Martial after Brazilian Fred's pass split the defence.

But the save ended Butland's game, forcing him to leave the pitch after treatment on his hand. The 26-year-old Martial -- whose career at United looked over after spending the second half of last season on loan at Sevilla -- got the breakthrough seven minutes later.

He chested down a wonderful floating delivery from Diogo Dalot to fire past Palace's third-choice keeper Remi Matthews after a well-worked build-up. United were hungry for goals, creating plenty of opportunities with Maguire and Rashford both going close.

Against Liverpool and Victory, Ten Hag made wholesale changes at half-time, but this time he made just one, with Donny van de Beek on for Scott McTominay. Van de Beek was involved in the second goal, with a sublime team move finished by Rashford tapping into an empty net.

Sancho got the third soon after on a counter-attack with Martial providing the through ball. United head to Perth next to play Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa, who beat Leeds 1-0 to kickstart their pre-season. Palace also travel to Perth, to face Leeds.

Sebastien Haller issues emotional statement after being diagnosed with testicular tumour

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has once again denied the reports that Cristiano Ronaldo can leave the club this summer amid intense speculations over the Portuguese star's future. Ten Hag claimed Ronaldo can even stay at United beyond the expiration of his current contract which ends next year. Ronaldo has reportedly already made it clear that he wants to leave the club this summer.

As per reports, the Portuguese forward, who is regarded as one of the best players of all time, wants to spend the remaining few years of his illustrious career at a club competing in the Champions League and to add to his trophy cabinet. Ronaldo is also reportedly not happy with the quality of United's current squad and believes that are far from challenging for the Premier League title.

The 37-year-old had returned to United last summer from Serie A side Juventus and finished as the club's top-scorer in the Premier League with 18 goals despite United enduring a disappointing season as they finished sixth to miss out on Champions League football next season. Ronaldo has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford with his agent trying to secure a deal.

However, Ten Hag said he is well-informed on Ronaldo's situation at United and expects him to stay at the club this season. He also didn't rule out the possibility of Ronaldo extending his stay for another year at United after his current contract expires next year.

“I am well informed – he also has an option (to extend his contract for another year)," said Ten Hag at the press conference ahead of United's pre-season clash against Crystal Palace. “Yes," he said when asked if Ronaldo can stay beyond the 2022-23 season. "Of course, I have signed here for three years, but in football, it’s short-term as well. We have to win from the start. So I don’t look that far ahead," he added.

Many believe Ronaldo won't fit the style of football Ten Hag might want to play at United as he continues his rebuild project at the club. At 37, despite his goal-poaching abilities, Ronaldo is not the player he once was and might not be able to give his best in terms of pressing, sprinting and winning the ball back as a forward.

Premier League champions Manchester City have one of the strongest squads in Europe and have further strengthened their roster by adding some big names once again this season. Norweigan striker Erling Haaland's arrival at the club has arguably been their best piece of business from the club so far this summer as he was one of the most sought-after forwards before his move to the Premier League club.

Haaland was on the radar of several top clubs across Europe but he decided to follow the footsteps of his father and join Man City where he will play under Pep Guardiola. His move to the City from Bundesliga club Borrusia Dortmund is certainly a huge step in his career and it will be a litmus test for him in one of the toughest football leagues in the world.

Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero recently opened up on Haaland's move to the club and said it will take him time to settle down in the Premier League and adapt to the demands of Guardiola. Expectations are high from Haaland, who has been a prolific goal-scorer so far in his career and has taken world football by a storm with his exploits.

"Haaland will take time to adjust to England and Pep’s demands just like I did. Haaland's is a very important signing. I think his goalscoring ability is proven. His stats through the German league and in Europe confirms this," Aguero, who is Man City's all-time leading goal-scorer told Stake.

Aguero believes Haaland has the talent and skills required to shine in the Premier League but it will take him time to adapt his game as per the demands of the league and his coach Guardiola.

"Logically, he will have a period of adaptation to a league as strong as the Premier League but I think he will go through his own process and the results will be seen soon. I think that an elite player like him will know how to reconcile his style with that of Pep's teams. It may take a while, as it did in the beginning for me, but once he gets into gear everything will be simpler," Aguero added.

The Manchester City legend was also asked for his opinion on the departures of Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling from the club this summer. Both forwards were let go by City and have joined rival Premier League clubs Arsenal and Chelsea respectively. Aguero warned City that they will miss the duo a lot despite having signed Haaland.

"Both players were important in the City scheme. I'm sure City will miss them a lot as they are great players. There will be a new make-up of the attack but this is a team with a great squad that will be ready for new challenges," said Aguero.

AC Milan midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko was held at gunpoint by the Italian police and a video of the incident has gone viral on social media. Bakayoko, who is currently on loan to AC Milan from English Premier League (EPL) club Chelsea, was searched by the Italian police in downtown Milan in what turned out to be a case of mistaken identity.

Sweden thrashed Portugal 5-0 to reach the quarter-finals of Euro 2022 on Sunday as holders the Netherlands needed a flurry of late goals to beat Switzerland 4-1 to ensure their place in the last eight.

Silver medallists at last year's Olympics, Sweden are the highest ranked team in the tournament, but failed to hit top gear in drawing with the Dutch and squeezing past the Swiss 2-1 in their opening two games.

Peter Gerhardsson's women clicked into gear in Leigh to claim top spot in Group C and were 3-0 up by half-time. Manchester City's Filippa Angeldal struck twice before Carole Costa headed into her own net in first half stoppage time.

Kosovare Asllani's penalty made it 4-0 before Arsenal striker Stina Blackstenius finally got on the scoresheet after having two earlier efforts ruled out.

Sweden will face whoever finishes second in Group D with Belgium, Iceland and Italy all in with a chance to finishing behind France in Monday's matches.

"We were really satisfied that we did enough to win the group. That was something we hoped for when we started," said Gerhardsson.

The Netherlands lie in wait for the French in the last eight as they had enough to get through despite missing star striker Vivianne Miedema for the second consecutive game due to a positive case of coronavirus.

"We're playing a big opponent and so are they. I don't think they want to play us," said Netherlands boss Mark Parsons, whose side lost 3-1 to France in February.

"The result wasn't what we wanted (last time), but we said that the next time we played them, we were confident that we would be better. We saw opportunity."

In front of a new record crowd of 22,596 for a women's Euro group match not involving the hosts, Ana-Maria Crnogorcevic's own goal put the Dutch in front in Sheffield.

Switzerland responded almost immediately when Geraldine Reuteler coolly finished from Romana Bachmann's pull-back just three minutes later.

A draw would have been enough for Mark Parsons' side to reach the knockout stages, but they made sure of the three points with three goals in the final six minutes. Substitute Romee Leuchter struck twice, either side of Victoria Pelova's effort, which survived a lengthy VAR check for offside.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said Gabriel Jesus`s ability to create "chaos" is exactly what they need after the Brazilian continued his impressive pre-season form in a 2-0 win over Everton in Baltimore on Saturday.

Jesus opened the scoring in the 33rd minute after a corner found him unmarked at the far post, lashing his effort past Jordan Pickford and into the roof of the net, before playing a role in setting up Bukayo Saka for the second minutes later.

The 25-year-old striker, who scored twice in a pre-season friendly against Nuremberg earlier this month, was signed for 45 million pounds ($53.33 million) from Manchester City in the close season.

Bayern Munich confirmed on Saturday they have agreed a deal with Barcelona for the sale of Poland star Robert Lewandowski to the Spanish club.

"Robert is a very deserving player, he has won everything with us. We are incredibly grateful to him."

Bayern did not give details but Spanish and German media reported the two-time FIFA men's player of the year had agreed a four-year deal worth 50 million euros ($50.4m), including five million in potential add-ons.

The agreement between the two teams closes the standoff with the 33-year-old who said at the end of May "it is certain that my story with Bayern has come to an end." Bayern had only offered Lewandowski a one-year extension to his contract, which expires in the summer of 2023.

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly received a lucrative offer from a Saudi Arabian club as he looks set to leave Manchester United this summer. Ronaldo has already informed United about his desire to leave the club this summer in search of a fresh challenge. His agent Jorge Mendes has been actively looking to conclude a transfer for the Portuguese superstar and has offered him to several top clubs across Europe but none of them have shown interest.

Mendes has reportedly held talks with the likes of PSG, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and FC Barcelona among others but no club has so far shown any concrete interest in signing Ronaldo from United this summer. Ronaldo had returned to United last summer and was the club's top-scorer in the Premier League with 18 goals despite their disastrous campaign.

He still has one year left on his current United contract but wants to play for a club competing in the Champions League to ensure he can spend the final few years of his career battling for more trophies. United failed to secure a spot in the Champions League last season as they finished sixth in the Premier League and will be playing in the Europa League next season.

As per CNN Portugal, Ronaldo has received an unbelievable offer from a Saudi club that is interested in securing his services for the next season. The club have bid 30 million euros to sign Ronaldo from United and have offered the Portuguese a staggering salary of around 275 million euros ($276m) per season.

If Ronaldo accepts their offer, he will become the highest-paid footballer in the world by a significant margin. Ronaldo currently earns less than 20 million pounds (approx USD 23 million) per season at United and will receive a massive salary hike if he decides to head to Saudi Arabia next season.

However, as per a report in ESPN, Ronaldo is likely to turn down the offer as he sees himself competing at the highest level in the final few years of his career. As per the report, Ronaldo wants to play in the Champions League next season and wants to compete for major trophies.

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has weighed in on the age-old debate of who is the bigger rival for the Red Devils between Manchester City and Liverpool.

The United star, who had an indifferent last season, remarked that it was the rivalry with the Merseyside club that felt much more. Rashford attributed this 'bitter' rivalry to the history that the Reds possess. As for the blue half of Manchester, Rashford stated that he didn't have a lot of reasons to not like them.

"Liverpool. I don't like Liverpool and City. Obviously, Liverpool have history so it is a bit more bitter but, with City, it's like you don't like them but you don't really have a massive reason not to like them. You just grow up and it's two Manchester sides, one wears light blue and one wears red. But the rivalry with Liverpool, it feels much more." said Rashford.

Manchester United have signed Christian Eriksen on a free transfer with the Danish playmaker signing a three-year deal, the Premier League club announced on Friday. Eriksen, who needed life-saving treatment on the pitch last year when he suffered a near-fatal cardiac arrest in a European Championship match against Finland in June, returned to action with Brentford after signing a short-term deal in January.

Eriksen is United's second recruit in the close season under new Dutch manager Erik ten Hag after the club signed Dutch left back Tyrell Malacia.

"Manchester United is a special club and I cannot wait to get started. I have had the privilege of playing at Old Trafford many times but to do it in the red shirt of United will be an amazing feeling," Eriksen said in a statement.

"I have seen Erik's work at Ajax and know the level of detail and preparation that he and his staff put into every day. It is clear that he is a fantastic coach.

"Having spoken with him and learned more about his vision and the way he wants the team to play, I am even more excited for the future."

Eriksen was an Inter Milan player when he collapsed and underwent surgery to be fitted with an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) device -- which is not permitted in the Italian Serie A -- leading to the termination of his contract.

After signing for Brentford, he made 11 league appearances under Danish coach Thomas Frank, scoring a goal and providing four assists as Brentford finished 13th in their first season in the Premier League.

He is no stranger to the Premier League, however, having spent nearly seven seasons with Tottenham Hotspur, making more than 300 appearances in all competitions for the London side.

He also resumed his Denmark career, scoring against Serbia on his return to the Parken Stadium where he had collapsed.

"I still have major ambitions in the game, there is a huge amount that I know I can achieve, and this is the perfect place to continue my journey," Eriksen added.

For the unversed, Messi would still have about six more months in his contract by the time Qatar 2022 comes to an end. Thus, he would have the option of exploring the market before making the final call. Amid all this, there are reports also surfacing online that Messi's boyhood club Barcelona is eager to resign him. If there is any truth to such claims, the Argentine might go back to his former club and finish off his stellar career with the Spanish giants. His exit from Barcelona had made heads turn and it was quite an emotional moment for Messi.

At PSG, Messi hasn't been at his usual best. While many blame the former manager Mauricio Pochettino for not making full use of his abilities, the Argentine was also not at his consistent best and only returned with 14 goals across 34 competitions in his maiden season -- ending with the worst-ever season in his professional career. Winning the Ligue 1 title with the club was the only bright spot for Messi in 2021/22 season.

While Cristiano Ronaldo's future at Manchester United continues to remain a mystery for one and all, Lionel Messi is also making heads turn on whether he would stay at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for another year or not.

Forward Ousmane Dembele, whose Barcelona contract expired last month, joined the team on Tuesday and is expected to sign a new deal with the Catalan giants.

Dembele`s potential contract extension would boost Barcelona`s attacking options as the team also look to sign Poland striker Robert Lewandowski from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

Raphinha to FC Barcelona confirmed as club announces agreement with Leeds United for Brazilian's transfer

An enquiry by the French Senate into crowd chaos at this year's Champions League final in Paris concluded that organisers were to blame, not supporters, undermining claims by the police and Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin. A fact-finding mission led by two senators was set up after the Liverpool-Real Madrid game on May 28 which was marred by a delayed kick-off, crushes, teargas and street crime.

The investigation concluded that the problems were caused by a "string of dysfunctions" including a lack of preparation by French authorities and European football body UEFA, as well as poorly executed security arrangements.

"These dysfunctions were at every level, not only during the implementation but also during preparations in advance," the co-chair of+the enquiry Laurent Lafon told reporters at a press conference.

The final report contradicted repeated statements from Darmanin that Liverpool fans were mostly responsible, with the minister claiming that up to 40,000 of them travelled to the stadium either with no tickets or with fake ones.

"The first statements (by the minister) do not match up with reality," Francois-Noel Buffet, a fellow co-chair of the investigation, told reporters.

"It was not because there were Liverpool supporters who travelled with their team that things went badly," Lafon added, noting that thousands of fans without tickets had been welcomed in fanzones set up in the French capital.

Those with tickets struggled to travel to the stadium because of a transport strike, then found themselves in bottlenecks and crushes at the entry gates.

Faced with the build up of frustrated crowds around the Stade de France, police used tear gas and pepper spray to move them back, affecting many children as well as disabled fans in wheelchairs.

After the game, supporters were preyed on by local gangs as they made their way to local transport connections, with many reporting pickpocketing, muggings and threats as the police looked on.

The televised events were a national embarrassment and are thought to have influenced parliamentary elections in June when President Emmanuel Macron lost his majority.

They caused alarm bells just a year from the start of rugby World Cup, which will be held in France, and the 2024 Paris Olympics. Darmanin survived a recent government reshuffle and has been given extra responsibility as interior minister despite his claims, which caused fury in Liverpool and tensions with the British government.

Liverpool football club is particularly sensitive to the scapegoating of its fans after they were falsely blamed for the Hillsborough stadium disaster in Sheffield in 1989.

Supporters' group Spirit of Shankly thanked the Senate on Wednesday for "welcoming the testimonies of fans and consequently vindicating them from any responsibility," but said this was not enough.

"We want a full apology from the French government with a complete retraction of the lies purported on their behalf on and since 28 May 2022, and will continue to lobby to achieve it," it said in a statement.

Darmanin, a law-and-order hardliner, issued his first partial apology at the end of June, telling RTL radio: "Should things have been managed better at the Stade de France (stadium)? The answer is yes. Am I partly responsible? The answer is yes."

The head of the Paris police, Didier Lallement, admitted during a Senate hearing on June 9 that security operations had been a "failure" and offered his excuses to fans who were unable to attend the game.

But he defended the use of teargas to move fans back from the stadium, saying there was "no other way." The Senate commission did not recommend any sanctions against the police or Darmanin.

"The role of a commission like ours is not to call for the resignation of someone in the government," Buffet explained.

Instead, its final report made a series of recommendations to authorities to improve security arrangements at major sporting events.

France is to host the Rugby World Cup next year and the Olympics in 2024. The Senate report recommended that the police draw up clearer guidelines for the use of teargas and adopt other crowd-control methods such as greater use of mounted officers and water cannons.

Authorities have also been under pressure to explain why security camera footage from the stadium was not saved, removing a potentially vital source of information for investigators.

"The images will always be missing. That's our biggest regret," Buffet said.

European football body UEFA is also conducting a parallel investigation into the debacle which came after France offered to host the game when it was stripped from Russia over Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.

Raheem Sterling bids emotional farewell to Manchester City fans ahead of Chelsea move

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly set to leave Manchester United this summer having already informed the club that he wants to spend the final few years of his career playing for a club competing in the Champions League. United cannot offer Ronaldo Champions League football next season as the club has been relegated to the Europa League after failing to finish top four in the English Premier League last season.

United endured a dismal campaign last season missing out on a top-four spot and getting knocked out of the Champions League from the Last 16. Ronaldo, who returned to United from Juventus last summer, has never played in the Europa League so far in his career.

Apart from his desire to play in the Champions League, Ronaldo is also reportedly upset with United's lack of ambition in the transfer market so far this summer. The superstar forward is thus looking for a move away from Old Trafford with his agent Jorge Mendes offering his services to several top clubs.

As per a report in ESPN, Ronaldo's agent Mendes recently discussed the possibility of the Portuguese star joining French club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG0 this summer. Mendes met with PSG's sporting director Luis Campos and club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi to discuss the move.

However, as per the report, PSG have rejected the chance to sign Ronaldo for various reasons. The club believe they do not have room for Ronaldo in the squad as they already have the likes of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in their star-studded attacking unit. PSG also reportedly believe they can't fit Ronaldo in their wage bill considering his staggering salary.

The prospect of witnessing two legends of the game - Ronaldo and Messi play together for a club can be a salivating prospect for football fans around the globe. But it seems the two legends are unlikely to don the same jersey anytime soon in the near future.

With Ronaldo already 37 and Messi also entering the wrong end of his 30s, fans might never get to witness two greats play together for the same club. While Messi had left his boyhood club FC Barcelona to join PSG last season, Ronaldo had made a dream comeback to United.

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly set to leave Manchester United this summer having already informed the club that he wants to spend the final few years of his career playing for a club competing in the Champions League.

Also Read: 'Not for sale': Man United manager Erik ten Hag clears the air regarding Cristiano Ronaldo's future As per a report in ESPN, Ronaldo's agent Mendes recently discussed the possibility of the Portuguese star joining French club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG0 this summer. Can Cristiano Ronaldo join Lionel Messi at PSG? Man Utd star's agent offer CR7 to French club - Report

Manchester United remains the most successful English Premier League (EPL) team, having won the elite championship for most times (20). Nonetheless, they have struggled to move past the Sir Alex Ferguson era and have been a pale shadow of themselves, especially in the last few seasons.

In the last EPL season, Man United brought back Cristiano Ronaldo and assembled a star-studded line-up, however, still finished sixth and missed out on champions league football for 2022-23. With the upcoming edition to kick off soon, the new manager Erik ten Hag has a lot riding on his shoulders to turn the fortunes of the premier club. On Tuesday (July 12), Ronaldo-less United locked horns with Liverpool in what was an exhibition football match, held at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok.

Amid all this, Wion's Sports Editor Digvijay Singh Deo caught hold of Andy Cole -- one of the all-time greats of EPL and Man United legend -- ahead of the friendly encounter between the Red Devils and Liverpool. The two spoke on what needs to be done for the most successful team to get back to its usual standards.

There is no iota of doubt that Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are part of the all-time best footballers' club. The two superstars continue to make wakes and heads turn from time to time with their presence and overall abilities. While Ronaldo and Messi are considered in the same bracket, although many feel one is slightly better than the other, Real Madrid's former defender Cicinho has made an interesting remark.

Cicinho feels Brazil and Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) striker Neymar is no less than Ronaldo and Messi. In a recent interaction, the 42-year-old lavished praise on his compatriot and told Jovem Pan Esportes, "Neymar is as good as Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi, if not better."

Neymar shifted base from Barcelona to PSG in 2017. While many thought he would spearhead the French club's pursuit of the UEFA Champions League title, not much has gone his way representing the French club. So far, the 30-year-old Brazilian has made as many as 144 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, scoring 100 goals along with 60 assists. However, his goals, assists, and overall presence haven't helped the side win the elusive UEFA Champions League title, which was very much why he was roped in by the club in the first place.

As per many reports, it is believed that Neymar has been put up for sale by PSG in this summer transfer. While nothing concrete has come out, rumours have linked him with a possible move to Premier League clubs such as Chelsea and Manchester United. Nonetheless, the suspense regarding Neymar's future at PSG continues and the picture will get clear in the coming weeks.

Kylian Mbappe snubbed Real Madrid earlier this summer to extend his contract at Paris-Saint Germain (PSG) leaving millions of Los Blancos fans around the world disappointed. Mbappe looked certain to join Real Madrid at one stage but his move to the club collapsed towards the end with PSG successfully trying their prized possession on a new contract with a staggering salary.

However, Real Madrid legend Hugo Sanchez believes Mbappe will still end up playing for the La Liga giants at some point in the future as he still has said a firm no to the club. Sanchez, who scored 208 goals for Real Madrid in 283 appearances for the club between 1985 and 1992, feels Mbappe will surely play for Real Madrid in future.

Mbappe had already made his desire to play for Real Madrid public last year while approaching the final year of his contract at PSG. He was close to joining the La Liga giants this summer after reportedly agreeing personal terms. However, PSG managed to persuade the French striker in staying with a new offer.

"But knowing him, I am sure that one day he will play for Real Madrid," he added.

The video was uploaded on TikTok where the fan was saying, "Aye Pep, let me get a picture bro! Yo! My man's smokin' off, yo! Aye Pep! Yo, nah nah you man need to see this! Oh my god!"

At first, Guardiola was taken aback and didn't stop. Manchester United have already kicked off their preparations for the new season under new manager Erik Ten Hag as the Premier League giants aim to bounce back after a disastrous campaign last season. United failed to finish in the top four in the Premier League and were also knocked out from the Champions League from the Last 16 in what was yet another trophyless year for the club.

United have failed to win a trophy in the last five years with their last triumph coming under Jose Mourinho in the Europa League in 2017. Despite United signing the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane to strengthen their squad, they failed to impress in the Premier League leading to the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager.

The club's woes both on and off the pitch were left exposed under the tenure of the interim manager Ralf Rangnick with reports emerging of unrest in the dressing room. Ronaldo, who returned to the club last summer, and was one of their best players, was reportedly involved in a rift with skipper Harry Maguire over his position as captain of the team.

Reports claimed that Ronaldo was not happy with Maguire's leadership last season and the duo were at odds over the issue. With the arrival of Ten Hag as the new manager, many believed Maguire's position as captain was not certain. However, in his first presser ahead of United's pre-season clash against Liverpool, Ten Hag confirmed Maguire will continue to lead the club next season.

Ten Hag said Maguire was an established captain and he doesn't doubt the issue when asked who will be leading the club next season. Manchester United legend Bryan Robson has backed the manager on his decision and said Maguire is a leader, who is an important player for United.

"I think Harry Maguire is very important to us. Harry didn't particularly have his best season (last season) for us but two years before that he was excellent.
