Veteran England seamer James Anderson has admitted he will not play all five Ashes Tests this summer, which begins with the first game in Edgbaston on June 16. Anderson, Test cricket's third highest wicket-taker with 685 scalps, is currently undergoing rehab for the groin injury he suffered in the County Championships recently.

Anderson, Test cricket's third highest wicket-taker with 685 scalps, is currently undergoing rehab for the groin injury he suffered in the County Championships recently. While Anderson is expected to sit out of the one-off Test against Ireland, scheduled for June 1st start in Lord’s, to remain fit for the home Ashes, the right-arm seamer will get rotated around to avoid getting drained. As of now, he is undergoing a 10-day recovery period, and while he will be fit before the Ireland Test begins, the management might go ahead without him, considering Jofra Archer is also ruled out for the summer. Other than him, the pace battery of Olly Stones and Mark Wood will remain unavailable for at least the first Ashes Test. Speaking to British media lately, as also reported by Reuters, Anderson said anyone thinking about playing all five matches sounds a tad unoptimistic, as each bowler will get rotated and would probably play three or four Tests on a stretch max. "I think playing all five is a little bit optimistic," Anderson told British media, as quoted by Reuters. "I think three, not just for myself – if you said to any of the bowlers three out of five, I think that's probably more realistic, more sensible. If it's four then great. "The thing is, you've got to take it game by game. If we're bowling 250 overs in the field in five days then you're probably going to rest. There could be rain, we could bowl them out cheaply. You just don't know, you've got to play it by ear," Anderson added. James lauds Stokes, calls him a born leader Having played alongside Stokes for around a decade now, Anderson probably knows a bit or two about the English captain, saying Stokes is an incredible professional athlete and that he is also a born leader. Lauding his captaincy, under whom England tasted tremendous success over the past year, winning 10 out of the 12 matches, Anderson said, "I think he's been spot on so far. I can't fault anything really. "I think everyone knew that he was a leader, the way he trains, whether it's the gym or whether it's catching or batting or bowling the way he goes about his business – he is the ultimate professional, a born leader. "(But) for me, it's the finer details, not just on the field where his tactical nous has been spot on, but also his emotional intelligence off the field and how he talks to everyone in the group," Anderson said about Stokes. Former England captain Michael Vaughan will return to the BBC's cricket coverage after being cleared of making a racist remark earlier this year.&nbsp; Vaughan had been accused of using racist or discriminatory language towards a group of players of Asian ethnicity before a match for Yorkshire in 2009. But a Cricket Discipline Commission panel held in March found that charge was not proven.

<h2>BBC confirms&nbsp;Vaughan's return</h2>

The BBC confirmed on Friday that Vaughan would be a guest on the broadcaster's 'Today at the Test' highlights programme, initially for England's match against Ireland at Lord's from June 1. Vaughan will also be a summariser on the Test Match Special radio programme throughout the season, with England hosting Australia in five Ashes Tests.

Vaughan, England's 2005 Ashes-winning skipper, was cleared of an allegation that he had referred to a group of four Yorkshire players of Asian ethnicity, including Azeem Rafiq, as "you lot" before a T20 match against Nottinghamshire.

Michael Vaughan set for BBC return after being cleared over racism claim

Early this month, Mumbai Indians (MI) were dealt with a major blow as speedster Jofra Archer got ruled out of the IPL 2023 edition. Archer featured in only five games for the Rohit Sharma-led franchise and accounted for a mere&nbsp;two wickets at an economy rate of 9.50. With the recurrence of stress fracture in his right elbow, he is now also out of the upcoming English summer, to miss Ashes 2023.

A lot was expected from Archer in the MI jersey. Having returned to international cricket, early this year, after almost 24 months, the 28-year-old never looked in his elements in IPL 2023, not bowling quick and looking threatening with the ball. After his return home, as the England Cricket Board (ECB) is monitoring his recovery, Little Master Sunil Gavaskar has slammed Archer left, right and centre.

<h2>'MI&nbsp;paid big money for him and what has he given in return?'</h2>

Gavaskar wrote in his column for Mid-Day, "What has been Mumbai Indians experience of Jofra Archer? They took a punt on him knowing that he was injured and would be available only from this season. They paid big money for him and what has he given in return? He didn't seem 100 per cent fit and he should have informed the franchise about it. They only realised when he turned up and found that he was barely able to bowl at his usual pace. "

He further opined, "In between the tournament, he went abroad for treatment which is what his country's cricket board apparently said. So he was never fully fit, but still came over. If he was committed to the franchise, who probably pay him more than the ECB does, he should have stayed right till the end even if he wasn't going to play and show his commitment towards the franchise. Instead, he has opted to fly off back to the UK."

<h2>'This has got to be the greatest diversionary trick attempted'</h2>

Gavaskar added, "A day later, a story appears that he is going to get a multi-million-pound deal with Mumbai Indians to play for their team in the various leagues in the world. This has got to be the greatest diversionary trick attempted. Mumbai Indians are not fools to sign a lame horse for any future race. Make no mistake, Mumbai Indians won't be amused at the turn of events and now that they have come back well in the tournament without his presence, he will be lucky if he gets his full fee for the IPL and if he does then he would do well to give half to his favourite charity."

"There's simply no point paying even one rupee for a player, however big a name he may be, if he is not going to be available for the entire tournament. It's got to be the player's choice to pick playing for an IPL franchise or his country. Full marks to him if he chooses country over IPL, but if he chooses IPL then he has to fulfil his commitments totally and not make some excuse and leave early, especially towards the time when qualifying for the Playoffs becomes crucial."

Archer's career has been marred with injury concerns. After being a part of England's maiden ODI World Cup campaign, in 2019, his graph has only gone down.&nbsp;In 2021, a stress fracture to his right elbow halted his progress whereas it was followed by&nbsp;a stress fracture of the back in the following year. Now, Archer is running against time to fully recover and stage a comeback in the English line-up for their ODI WC defence, later this year in India.&nbsp;

IPL 2023: 'No point paying...': Gavaskar slams injured Jofra Archer, says 'what has he given MI in return?'

England keeper-batter Jonny Bairstow is set to return to the national side after&nbsp;eight months following a horrific leg injury he suffered while playing golf in September last year. The ECB included him in the Test squad for the one-off game against Ireland ahead of the 2023 Ashes, starting June 1st at Lord's.&nbsp;

Bairstow, 33, missed a tremendous amount of cricketing action in the meantime, including England's 2022 T20 World Cup campaign, away Pakistan and New Zealand series, and IPL 2023 for Punjab Kings.

Upon returning to the field for Yorkshire in the second-division championship, Bairstow was among the runs and kept wickets - something he is happy doing for the rest of the summer. With Ireland and home Ashes ahead, Bairstow will have a dual role to play, and after almost recovering from the injury that threatened to end his career, Bairstow is happy to be back and hit the ground running.

Jonny admitted that he feared his career is over and that he won't be able to walk or even play cricket.

"You wonder whether or not you'll be able to walk again, jog again, run again, play cricket again," Bairstow said. "Absolutely, those things do go through your mind.

"It depends how long you think about them. There are many different things, until you get back to playing, well… you wonder, is it going to feel the same?" he added.

<h2>Jonny can't wait to keep wickets during home summer</h2>

While he admits being limping despite getting clearance from the medical team to go about his business, Bairstow said keeping shouldn't be a worry and having kept wickets for over 100 overs for Yorkshire, he is confident of pulling it off for six Tests ahead.

"I don't think it's different to fielding - when you're sprinting, changing direction," Bairstow said of keeping wicket. "You're squatting at the stumps and moving laterally, but you're not running at 25ks to the boundary. So, it's a different kind of fitness - the old legs and glutes are a bit stiff after that first day in the dirt, but it's part and parcel of it.

"That first second XI game (against Nottinghamshire before his return to 1st XI cricket), I kept 100 overs in the game. The last two Champo games - it's been building nicely. A day off, train, train, train. It's been back-to-back, and there hasn't been any reaction. If it swelled up, you know there's something wrong. So it's positive," Bairstow added, as quoted in ESPNcricinfo.

Having kept wickets in the past across formats, Bairstow is not new to this role and ahead of the all-important assignment in Ashes, he is happy to take care of the glove work behind the wickets.

"I'm excited. It's going to be a new challenge again because it is obviously something I've done quite a bit, but then there are periods when you don't do it as much because you're playing as a batter. Or playing white-ball cricket or whatever. It is an exciting challenge that awaits."

Meanwhile, as things stand, Bairstow will play for Yorkshire in the T20 Blast at Edgbaston this weekend and will rejoin the England squad ahead of Ireland Test.

England's Jonny Bairstow happy to be back for home summer amid career-ending thoughts

Veteran English fast bowler James Anderson recently suffered a mild strain on his left groin and is expected to sit out of the one-off Test against Ireland, starting June 1st at Lord's. Though he got named in the 15-man squad, Anderson might decide against playing to remain fit for the Ashes opener against Australia, on June 16th in Edgbaston.&nbsp;

Playing for Lancashire against Somerset in the County Championship, Anderson picked up the injury on day one and didn't take any part in the game afterwards. Following the scans on Friday, the results showed there is not much to worry about, but on precautionary grounds, Anderson will likely get the rest.

Although, he will undergo a ten-day recovery period that will see him hit the ground running before the start of the Ireland Test. Alongside him, pacer Mark Wood, who also is preserved for the mega five-match Test series, could be benched for the Ireland game, leaving options from Stuart Broad, Ollie Robinson, Chris Woakes and Matthew Potts to choose from.&nbsp;

"I think I will be fit for the game," Anderson said of the Ireland fixture. "Whether I play or not is probably another matter really. I definitely don't want to risk it.

"I feel good, fine. I had a scan on the second day of that game. It was a little groin strain. It's a 10-day recovery period, and I'm rehabbing already, running next week. It was the best result of a bad situation. I'm disappointed to have to pull out of a game, but with what's to come in the summer it was actually a pretty good result," the veteran seamer said.

Meanwhile, England will remain worried about their pace cordon heading into the Ashes with two express-fast seamers in Jofra Archer (who got ruled out of English summer due to elbow issue) and Olly Stone, who are out of contention. Considering this scenario, Anderson's fitness will remain England's primary concern.

Veteran James Anderson expected to sit out of Ireland Test to remain fit for Ashes opener

Chennai Super Kings’ superstar recruit Ben Stokes continues to struggle while bowling as coach Stephen Fleming rules out his inclusion in the final league game against Delhi Capitals on May 20th. Stokes, who last played for CSK on April 3rd, remains on the bench even after being deemed fit for selection last week. As the 2023 Ashes are fast approaching, England’s Test captain will aim to fulfil his promise of being the ‘fourth seamer’ in the side.

Meanwhile, following CSK’s latest loss at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders in Chepauk, head coach Stephen Fleming revealed Moeen Ali is still the first-choice pick for the away clash in Delhi. Fleming said it’s not CSK’s thing to make changes to the XI after a loss, as they plan to stick with an unchanged side against DC.&nbsp;

Bought for INR 16.25 crores (£1.6 million approx.) during the December auction last year, Stokes earlier dealt with his prolonged knee injury, and while he attained fitness in a few weeks, he suffered another setback that ruled him out for an extended period.&nbsp;

Elaborating on how he is dealing with them right now, Fleming said Stokes' bowling remains a concern while he is being seen as a ‘batting cover’.

"Ben's ability to bowl overs at the moment is still a bit of a challenge, but he's there as that batting cover," Fleming said. "But with Moeen bowling well in good conditions - we go to Delhi [next], which has been turning - we think the balance of the side has been right.

"And look, we're second on the table, so it's not our style to chop and change just because we've had a loss where things didn't go our way. We won't do that. We might tinker with it but we're very focused on getting the right team for Delhi," the head coach added.

However, with Stokes earlier claiming that he would like to return home ahead of the long summer, which starts with the one-off Test against Ireland at Lord’s that begins on June 1st and then the Ashes, he is expected to remain in India at least until CSK’s final league game.&nbsp;

Though no official call on by when Stokes is expected to leave/ will leave for England, the ECB selectors are due to meet in the coming days to name the squads for the initial Ashes Tests, which begins with the first game in Edgbaston on June 16th.&nbsp;

The 31-year-old cricketer told&nbsp;news outlet The Telegraph that he had undergone two operations last year to remove a melanoma from his chest.

“I had a melanoma that was 0.6mm (deep). The threshold of when it gets really serious is 0.7mm, so really close."

“If I had left that screening to go to the meeting, and waited until my next one six months down the line it could have been far, far more serious. The margins are so small but can have massive consequences,” told the cricketer.

“I have tried to do that over the years and it’s sometimes resulted in carrying drinks. You realise that cricket isn’t the be-all and end-all. It’s hugely important but you need to put things in perspective. It’s also made me much more empathetic,” he added.

The cricketer, who has played three Tests, 28 ODIs and 37 T20Is, also warned the cricketers of being in the sun for too long.

“I’m not just talking about the pro game. It’s club cricketers, people who watch the game. I played at Lord’s recently and the sun was out, even if it wasn’t 25 degrees. It might only have been 18 but you can still get sunburnt."

“We treat it (applying suncream) like a bit of a chore because the education around it isn’t as good as in countries like Australia. I’d like to see everyone in cricket working together: the sun is out, so let’s protect ourselves,” said Billings.

England cricketer Sam Billings reveals his battle with skin cancer

Former Windies legend Chris Gayle has called for fit Jofra Archer to lead England’s pace attack during the home Ashes that begins in around a month's time. Gayle hailed England’s Test team coach Brendon McCullum for a sea of change&nbsp;he brought into the side and also applauded their new brand of cricket, ‘Bazball’, that has taken the world by storm.

Speaking to Sky Sports on the sidelines of Miami GP, Gayle said he is looking forward to watching the Ashes and being there at some point as well. He added, despite England being the hot favourites this time, no one should discount Australia, and considering they are also playing India in the WTC ahead of the Ashes, which begins on June 16th in Edgbaston, the Aussies would have some match practice heading into the battle for the urn.

"The cricket England play now is fantastic. They play good, aggressive cricket" Gayle told Sky Sports. "Brendon McCullum brings something special to the England Test side.

"[Australia] have the World Championship final against India that's going to be interesting so I'm looking forward to it,” Gayle said.

"The Ashes is always going to be interesting with Australia and England so I think it will be a good game of cricket to watch, and hopefully, I'll be there," the former Windies legend added.

England’s Test captain Ben Stokes has asked for eight fast bowlers for the Ashes; while the onus would remain on the veteran pair of James Anderson and Stuart Broad early on, with Ollie Robinson waiting in the wings, Stokes wants bowlers who can bowl above 90mph like Mark Wood, Olly Stone and Jofra Archer to attain complete fitness so that they can be rotated during the home showdown.

Speaking particularly of Archer, who following the 2019 WC triumph, suffered a series of injuries, which also saw him missing Test cricket for over two years now, Gayle said Archer needs to be back to his best as England and world cricket need him.&nbsp;

Calling him entertaining and an express pacer, Gayle wished him good luck in his recovery.

"It's sad to see. He's been out for a long time but it's good to see him back on the field. Gayle said. "He missed a few games in the IPL. England need him; world cricket needs him as well. We need an express, entertainment from a fast bowler. I wish him all the best," Gayle said.

Chris Gayle hails magnificent McCullum, calls for fit Jofra Archer to lead England's attack in 2023 Ashes

England Cricket team’s Ashes campaign has suffered another blow as seamer Olly Stone has pulled a hamstring during Nottinghamshire’s home County game against Lancashire on Saturday.

England Cricket team’s Ashes campaign has suffered another blow as seamer Olly Stone has pulled a hamstring during Nottinghamshire’s home County game against Lancashire on Saturday. Looked upon as one of the main pacers by ECB’s managing director Robert Key for next month’s home Ashes, Olly had undergone scans, the reports of which will come out after the end of the game. As per a report in the Guardian, Olly was walking with crutches inside the dressing room, and while the exact extent of his injury is unknown, he doesn’t look likely to be 100 per cent in about a month's time. Considering Ashes is a five-match series, and England Test captain Ben Stokes' request for eight fit seamers at his disposal during that period, an untimely injury to Stone could prove costly for the hosts. ALSO READ: IPL 2023: Philip Salt spoils Virat's homecoming with match-winning 87 to down RCB by eight wickets While England have seam bowlers in veteran James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Ollie Robinson, Stokes is believed to be pushing for those who can bowl at 90 mph – someone like Jofra Archer and Mark Wood. Stone, a pacer with massive promise, has had an unfortunate extensive run of injuries during his 10-year-old County career that saw him play only 45 matches. Olly has had four stress fractures, with the last one leading to an operation in which two metal screws were inserted in his spine. The 29-year-old enjoyed limited outings in the ODI jersey and travelled with the Test team in New Zealand, though he didn’t get a game there. Ahead of the start of English summer, Stone said, “It’s been encouraging with how much cricket I’ve had this winter and come through it. I’m feeling fit and strong and just raring to get stuck in now." ‘I’ve looked at things in the past, injuries got in the way, and I’ve been quite disappointed so I try not to look too far ahead. But everyone knows how big a summer it is, and I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t on the radar,” the seamer added, as quoted in the Guardian. Blow to England's Ashes campaign as seamer Olly Stone pulls up hamstring during County stint

For reasons known to all, England will do everything to regain the urn this summer. As the 2023 Ashes will begin on June 16th, in Edgbaston- then venue which supposedly has the shortest boundaries (59 m) in the country, the English teams are reported to be deploying a stranger parameter at all grounds to ensure their 'Bazball' brand wreaks havoc against the Aussies.

As first reported by The Times and then carried on by Fox Sports in Australia, the England team management has asked for 'smaller boundaries' to hunt down the Australian bowling attack.&nbsp;

Earlier, Ben Stokes - England's Test captain, told Sky Sports they have asked for fast and flat wickets for the summer showdown at home.&nbsp;
“We’ve been very clear with the ground staff around England about what type of wickets we want, and they’ve been very responsive to us, which is good,” Stokes told Sky Sports.

“We want fast, flat wickets. We want to go out there and score quickly,” Stokes added.

With Bazball making all the right noises for good reasons so far, England's newest tactics to put Australia under the mat have raised a few eyebrows.

The&nbsp;former Australia captain Michael Clarke also bashed this&nbsp;report calling it a trash, and&nbsp;added even though&nbsp;this happens, it's not just England who will bat, the Aussies will have their turn too.

“What a load of junk,” Clarke said on Sky Sports Radio’s Big Sports Breakfast on Monday morning.

“Australian grounds are twice the size of England grounds anyway. That’s why there’s less sixes from the Australian players. Bat at the MCG you’ve got 90m boundaries, bat in England you’ve got 60m boundaries. Who cares? Both teams have got to bat,” the former Aussie captain added.

Speaking on the same, Australian Test captain Pat Cummins said, his teammates will not get intimidated by the Bazball regardless of the conditions.

“Over the last 18 months, the way we’ve gone about it has been really successful, so you don’t want to lose sight of that,” Cummins told foxsports.com.au.

“I think that’s the most important — worry about what we do well, rather than looking at the opposition,” he added.

England to deploy 'smaller boundaries' tactics to hunt Australia down in home Ashes - Reports

Andrew Strauss is to leave his position as strategic adviser to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) after his suggested reforms to the domestic calendar failed to gain the backing of English counties. The former England captain was commissioned to conduct a high-performance review following the team's 2021/22 Ashes rout in Australia.

His report made 17 recommendations, notably reducing the overall number of first-class and T20 Blast matches in an English season. But his proposals sparked a backlash among county loyalists, angered at what they deemed another attempt to blame the domestic game for the national side's latest failure in Australia.

And with most of England's 18 first-class counties member-owned clubs, Strauss's plan failed to gain sufficient support, with the existing schedule remaining in place.

The case for a major shake-up of the county structure was also weakened as an England side that had own just one of its last 17 Tests under former captain Joe Root, went on to triumph in 10 of their next 12 under new skipper Ben Stokes and red-ball coach Brendon McCullum.

There was an administrative shake-up too, with Richard Gould succeeding Tom Harrison as ECB chief executive and Richard Thompson taking over as chairman.

Strauss, previously the ECB's director of men's cricket, had regarded his proposals as all of a piece and the 46-year-old has signalled his intention to stand down at next month's annual general meeting.

He has several commitments away from cricket, notably at the Ruth Strauss Foundation, a lung cancer charity he established in honour of his late wife.&nbsp;&nbsp;

"I've really enjoyed my time at the ECB and am proud of having contributed to a successful period for our England teams," said the former Ashes-winning skipper in a board statement. "With increasing commitments outside of the organisation, sadly I've decided it's time to step away from my current role. I wish the new board all the very best as it continues in its mission to grow our game."

Thompson, paying tribute to the 46-year-old ex-opener contribution, said: "Andrew has given outstanding service to English cricket over many years in a number of different roles.

"I've greatly valued the advice and expertise he has provided in my time as chair, and have enjoyed working with him.

"We are currently implementing the vast majority of recommendations from his impressive high-performance review, which I believe will help our England men's teams to sustain their success."

England pacer Stuart Broad recently stated that he does not feel Australia's 4-0 victory over England was a real Ashes victory, arguing Covid-19 restrictions made it void. During the 2021-22 edition, held in Australia, the Pat Cummins-led home side thrashed Joe Root's England 4-0 and reclaimed the urn Down Under. However, the 36-year-old speedster believes that the definition of Ashes cricket was lost during the previous edition.&nbsp;

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Broad said, "Nothing was harsher than the last Ashes series," Broad told the&nbsp;Daily Mail. "But in my mind, I don't class that as a real Ashes.&nbsp;The definition of Ashes cricket is an elite sport with lots of passion and players at the top of their game. Nothing about that series was high-level performance because of the Covid restrictions.&nbsp;The training facilities, the travel, not being able to socialise. I've written it off as a void series."

"If we can get them playing in a slightly different style they could make mistakes and that would be brilliant for us."

The veteran pacer added, "Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne and Usman Khawaja are all guys who like to bat time and accumulate.&nbsp;So if we can nibble away at them and just get them thinking, 'Why are we not scoring quicker? Why are we not moving the game forward?' I'd love Smith to dance down the track and sky one to mid-off early doors. That would be classic."

After breaking his leg while playing golf with his friends, Jonny was sidelined for an indefinite period; and following his recovery, the right-handed batter is ready to get going again. Bairstow will return to Yorkshire’s second XI against Nottinghamshire's second-string side later this week. Injury to Bairstow meant he missed all the action that followed – from the T20 World Cup in Australia to England’s historic tour of Pakistan, where they whitewashed them in Tests. Later, Jonny also missed the away tour of New Zealand. Moreover, the keeper-batter didn’t feature for Punjab Kings in IPL 2023, who replaced him with uncapped Aussie batter Matthew Short for this season. ALSO READ: IPL 2023: Irfan Pathan in awe of RCB's Mohammed Siraj, says he's the difference-maker for them this season Yorkshire head coach Ottis Gibson confirmed this news adding that Jonny will also be keeping wickets for some part of the game. "Jonny is going to play this week. We'll go and have a look at him and see how he goes,” Gibson said, as quoted by Sky Sports. "He's had such a long lay-off, so it's a fitness assessment for him to see what his capacity is and what he can do on the field in terms of running around in the outfield or standing behind the stumps. He will probably do both to see which one he's most comfortable with," he added. While Jonny had a startling 2022 before he got injured, having scored four Test hundreds, he still needs to fight for his place in the XI for the first Test of the summer against Ireland on June 1. In his absence, young Harry Brook grabbed the chance with both hands and has been on a run-hitting spree since making his Test debut. In six Tests played, the right-handed Harry has already slammed four centuries at an average of 80.9, with a best of 186. Since the Ashes is still far, Jonny will have ample time to attain full fitness and find some form before selectors sit together to name the squad for the first two Tests. 2023 Ashes schedule - First Test (Edgbaston) - June 16 - June 20 Second Test (Lord's) - June 28 - July 2 Third Test (Clean Slate Headingley) - July 6 - July 10 Fourth Test (Emirates Old Trafford) - July 19 - July 23 Fifth Test (The Kia Oval) - July 27 - July 31

England head coach Brendon McCullum will not face further action regarding his association with a betting company, the England and Wales&nbsp;Cricket&nbsp;Board (ECB) said on Wednesday. The former New Zealand captain faced scrutiny last week when he appeared in advertisements for 22Bet India, a Cyprus-registered online bookmaking company.

"Discussions have been ongoing with Brendon over the last few days, and the matter has been considered from an employer and regulator perspective," an ECB spokesperson said. "We can confirm that no further action will be taken."

Former England captain Michael&nbsp;Vaughan&nbsp;has been cleared of using racist language towards ex-Yorkshire team mate Azeem Rafiq in verdicts released by the Cricket Discipline Commission (CDC) panel on Friday. The panel said it found the charge against&nbsp;Vaughan&nbsp;was not proved, after the case against him and five other former Yorkshire players was heard in London earlier this month.

Yorkshire and a number of individuals were charged by the England &amp; Wales Cricket Board (ECB) last year after an investigation into racism allegations made by Rafiq, who said in 2021 that he had been a victim of institutional racism at the club. Rafiq, a player of Pakistani descent who has said English cricket is institutionally racist, alleged that&nbsp;Vaughan&nbsp;told him and other players of Asian origin that there were "too many of you lot, we need to do something about it" before a match in 2009.&nbsp;Vaughan&nbsp;strongly denied the allegation.

The CDC said its panel "was not satisfied on the balance of probabilities" that&nbsp;Vaughan&nbsp;said the words "at the time and in the specific circumstances alleged".

The panel added its findings "do not in any way undermine the wider assertions" made by Rafiq. Vaughan, who played for Yorkshire between 1993 and 2009, was one of seven individuals charged by the ECB with using racist or discriminatory language. He was the only defendant who participated in the CDC hearing.

"It has been both difficult and upsetting to hear about the painful experiences which Azeem described over the past three years,"&nbsp;Vaughan&nbsp;said in a statement on social media before the ruling was published. "The dismissal of the specific charge that concerned me takes nothing away from Azeem's own lived experiences... I have never wanted to do anything that runs contrary to genuine efforts to clean up the game of cricket. "I truly hope people can understand why, on a personal level, I could not just accept, or apologise for, something which I know I did not do... At times, this process has brought me to the brink of falling out of love with cricket."

The panel upheld some charges against former Yorkshire players Tim Bresnan, John Blain, Matthew Hoggard, Andrew Gale and Richard Pyrah, all of whom withdrew from the proceedings. Yorkshire and former player Gary Ballance were not required to attend the hearing after accepting their charges. The racism scandal rocked English cricket and led to numerous changes in coaching and administrative personnel at the club.

Yorkshire have admitted documents and data relating to allegations of racism were deleted or lost during the tenure of a previous regime.

David Saker is set to reprise his role as England's fast bowling coach for this year's Ashes after the Australian was approached by skipper Ben Stokes at the Twenty20 World Cup last year. Saker was the coach when England won the Ashes 3-1 in Australia in 2010-11 but switched to his home country for the 2017-18 series as they won 4-0. He was a consultant on England's coaching staff when they won the T20 World Cup.

"I don't think I'll do much test cricket, but I'm doing the Ashes. Ben (Stokes) said: 'I'd like to get you involved in the Ashes,'" Saker was quoted as saying by British media on Monday. "Rob Key (England cricket's managing director) had already floated it a little bit, but being so busy I wasn't sure if I really wanted to do it.

"Once Stokesy pushed it, it made it an easy decision. I said yes straight away because of the magnitude of the occasion. I've been involved in Ashes with both parties and the cricket is as exciting as it gets. It's the biggest test event."

Saker said there was no question of switching loyalties as he looked at it "like any job".

The 56-year-old said he was looking forward to working with not only veteran pacers James Anderson and Stuart Broad but also Jofra Archer and Mark Wood.

"The outliers are obviously the 150 kmph bowlers. It's exciting if we can have Jofra and Wood available. Whether you play them together is another thing, but I think you need that pace against the Australians," he said.

"Playing in English conditions I think it puts their bowling group in front of the Australians, without a doubt. It'll come down to whatever team can bat the best really, I think both sides know that."

It’s fair to say ‘Bazball’ cricket has taken the cricketing world by storm. Since the time the pair of Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes took over the reins in the Test setup, not only results&nbsp;but the mindset of the entire dressing also changed for good. Ben Duckett, England’s one of all-format players&nbsp;revealed what the dressing room atmosphere is like at the moment.

Having found success on his previous tours of Pakistan and New Zealand, Ben, who made his England debut seven years back, feels more relaxed now and also in a better space in the team. Averaging over 50 at the top of the order in the Test side since his return in December last year, the left-handed batter talked about what goes behind the camera inside the dressing room and how it is influencing everyone and everything.

Calling the experience ‘ridiculously different’, Duckett said how he was made to feel inside the dugout was something he never felt before, and that it made him all the more relaxed.

"It's ridiculously different," Duckett said of his Test experience in the Test set-up. "The way that they make everyone feel is something that I never thought would be the case in Test cricket. It's almost like you're playing a friendly, you're actually going out and playing a Test match and it's that relaxed, and that's how you're going to get players to perform at their best,” the left-hander added as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

"The first thing Baz (McCullum) said to me in Pakistan was: 'Just enjoy it, you're going to get a good run'. To hear that as an opening batsman before your first Test back makes you not nervous and you can go out there and play your way rather than looking for a score.

Realising that Bazball had once become the talk of the town and that with too many people comes too many suggestions, Duckett said the outside noise doesn’t impact what is happening inside the dressing room.

"And I think the big thing in that dressing-room is - whatever the noise is outside that dressing room, no one cares. It's everything in that dressing room and almost you've got that backing, it feels like there's a squad of players now that seems like they're going to keep for a little while, especially while things are going well. Previously, you're fearing for every single game, if you get no runs, you might get dropped the next game," Duckett said.

Currently involved in the away three-match T20Is against Bangladesh – against whom he made his Test debut, Duckett said he’s a mature cricketer now, and probably won’t repeat the same mistake he did back then.

"I've matured as a cricketer. It's realising what works for me, understanding what my strengths are. Seven years ago, I might have tried to hit Shakib [Al Hasan] for six over long-on, now I know all I have to do is hit the ball in front of square leg and it's four runs. The small taste I had back then, I was very young and probably wasn't ready. I think that comes with age and most batters are at their best when they get to the age of 28, 29," he talked about learning from his past experiences.

Meanwhile, Ben Duckett will return to action during the second T20I on Sunday in Dhaka as England look to make a comeback after losing the first game by six wickets.

Shakib Al Hasan-led Bangladesh defeated T20 world champions England by six wickets in the three-match T20I series opener, in Chattogram, on Thursday (March 9). The Bangla Tigers, who lost the three ODIs 1-2, put up a clinical display with both bat and ball and emerged on top courtesy of top performances from Hasan Mahmud and Najmul Shanto.&nbsp;

Opting to bowl first, on a sluggish surface, the Bangladesh bowlers kept it tight versus the English batters.&nbsp;Philip Salt and skipper Jos Buttler stitched an impressive 80-run stand in the first ten overs but Salt fell for 38. The England captain held one end before he departed for a 42-ball 67. The visitors lost the plot from thereon. They were not allowed to score freely with Mahmud returning with 2 for 26 along with&nbsp;Taskin and Nasum Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman as well as skipper Shakib chipping in with a wicket each. As a result, England only managed a moderate 156/6.

In reply, Bangladesh batters got off to&nbsp;starts but it was Shanto's 30-ball 51, laced with 8 fours, which took his side home.&nbsp;Towhid Hridoy, Rony Talukdar and captain Shakib (24-ball 34 not out) also contributed in&nbsp;the home side's easy win (with two overs to spare).&nbsp;The second and penultimate tie will be held&nbsp;at the&nbsp;Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka on March 12.

Notably, this is Bangladesh's first-ever win over England in the shortest format and they now lead the series 1-0.

WHAT THEY SAID

After the loss, Buttler said, "Bangladesh finished the inning really well. We couldn't manage to get away. We were probably 20 runs short and we had to chase it in the field. Low bounce and a little bit slow but it was consistent throughout. Bangladesh came out and played with a lot of intent and that put us under a lot of pressure. We've got a lot of all-rounders, blessed to be in this position."

Meanwhile, Shakib stated, "The way we approached the game was fantastic. When we were bowling, we were under the pump but no one panicked. Other than my dropped catch, everyone fielded well. That's what we want to do, when you don't think too much, you perform well. Hopefully we can continue this. This is a very good start. We can build on from here. We can only good better from here."

BAN vs ENG: Bangladesh beat world champions England for first time in shortest format, take 1-0 lead

England is currently going around as one of the best Test teams in the world;&nbsp;thanks to their new approach, called ‘Bazball’ – they have made headlines for all the right reasons so far. Be it for their Test wins at home last year or even outside of it including the famous clean-sweep victory over Pakistan in Pakistan, England is the side almost every country fears to face. Having enjoyed their recent 267-run win over New Zealand in the first Test of the ongoing series, Ben Stokes’ England is high on confidence. Meanwhile, former English captain Nasser Hussain feels this side’s toughest challenge is about to come&nbsp;and it’s not the Ashes.

In 2023, Australia will be travelling to England for the away Ashes, and given how they have fared so far in their ongoing series against India, Hussain feels Oz&nbsp;won’t be as big a threat as they were back in the day.

Having come to India on the back of two home series win over Windies and South Africa, Australia was confident of beating India in India for the first time since 2004. The opposite happened as India had Aussies on the mat in both Tests and that too inside three days each.

Considering Australia’s poor away run in Tests and knowing that they haven’t won an Ashes in England since 2001, the hosts&nbsp;would fancy their chances this time. Hussain, however, feels it’s not the Ashes that would be England’s toughest challenge this year but the away India tour in 2024.

Speaking after England’s first Test, Hussain said, “Given Australia have not won here since 2001, England’s greatest challenge will be away in India. The Ashes is going to be mouth-watering, and I think it will be close.”

Sharing his opinion on how Bazball could come up against the mighty Aussies, Hussain feels it’s the Australian batting that would determine the result of the Ashes.

“People are talking about whether Bazball will work against their high-quality bowling attack. I think the Ashes will be won and lost on Australia’s batting line-up. They have been below par away from home, but if they can score runs in England, it will be pretty tight,” Hussain added.

Meanwhile, before this star-studded pair of Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes took over the reins, England struggled big time to find the right results under Joe Root, under whom they won just one Test in his last 17 matches as the captain. Hailing this duo that clearly changed the dynamics of English Test cricket, Hussain said,

"McCullum was the right fit at the right time. Before he came in, England were being micromanaged to the Nth degree, whether it be because of the Covid bubbles or their rotation policy. They needed someone like McCullum to set them free. With Stokes as his captain, they have two people who are completely aligned.”

England's next Test against New Zealand will be played at the Basin Reserve in Wellington, starting February 24th.

Things got heated between South Africa and England during the second ODI as Jos Buttler and Rassie van der Dussen came head to head. Chasing a stiff target of 343, South Africa were on the ascendancy when both players lost their calm momentarily and engaged in verbal confrontation.&nbsp;

During the 19th over of the match, England were seemingly bearing the brunt of opposition skipper Temba Bavuma's effortless strokeplay. England captain Buttler sought this as an opportunity to shake things to get a move on.&nbsp;

Adil Rashid bowled a google which van Dussen failed to read. He got a thick inside edge as the ball balloned up near him. Buttler from behind attempted to catch the ball but the South African stood his ground.&nbsp;

Blocked to catch the ball, Buttler nudged the no.3 batter away, which started the kerfuffle.

A visibly angered van Dussen retorted saying, "Come on man". Buttler tried playing it cool and replied, "Just relax. I'm trying to get to the ball."

"What’s your problem Rassie? It’s not all about you all the time," added Buttler.&nbsp;

"No, it's about you," said van Dussen, to which Buttler had another celevr reply,&nbsp;"I am allowed to try and catch the ball."

It was at this moment the umpire intervened and requested the two players to calm down.&nbsp;

WATCH | Jos Buttler and Rassie van der Dussen engage in a heated verbal exchange

England's white-ball captain Jos Buttler has slammed the modern-day cricketing schedule where players are forced to play one series after another, without having the requisite break in between.

England's white-ball captain Jos Buttler has slammed the modern-day cricketing schedule where players are forced to play one series after another, without having the requisite break in between. "I feel for the players to be honest. There are certain players who have the ability to play all three formats but that is kind of impossible because of the schedules," Buttler told The Evening Standard. "That is a frustration I would have if I was a young player growing up now, that you don’t want to feel pigeon-holed as a player because the schedule doesn’t allow you to play everything." Buttler, who led England to their second T20 World Cup trophy last year added that because of overlaps, some players, picked for both formats will have to sit out, due to scheduling conflicts. "It’s going to be pretty impossible for those guys to be involved in Bangladesh, so it’s really important we expose them here and give them opportunity. We’ve got to use these games here and in Bangladesh to experiment a bit, expose people to playing international cricket. That’s just something we have to manage the whole way through. If we play well, I think we should win games of cricket," England are currently playing an ODI series in South Africa after which they will travel to New Zealand to play a two-match Test series. After the culmination of the Kiwi tour, the three lions will travel to the Indian subcontinent to face Bangladesh in a white-ball series. And all this comes in a year when English players will be participating in the IPL as well as the ODI World Cup scheduled in India. Buttler's statement comes a day after former ODI allrounder Ben Stokes also highlighted the scheduling problem in cricket. Notably, after England lost yet another ODI match, ‘Wisden’ on Twitter asked its followers, ‘What is England’s biggest issue in ODI cricket’, to which Stokes replied, quote tweeting, ‘Begins with S ends with E and has chedul in there as well’. Read more: Begins with 'S' and ends with 'E', Ben Stokes' latest tweet sheds light on new-age cricket's biggest problem The inability to play all three formats due to the cramped scheduling forced Stokes to quit the ODI game last year. Several other cricketers have also given up one format or another as they can't keep up with the rigours of nonstop cricket. (With inputs from agencies) WATCH WION LIVE HERE:

After Stokes, Buttler slams the hectic cricketing calendar

England's world cup-winner Jofra Archer is raring to go in the upcoming ODI series against South Africa, starting on Friday, January 27th in Bloemfontein. The three-match ODI series will mark the return of Archer to international cricket - who was out of action since March 2021 due to several injuries. Deeming himself 80% fit ahead of the first One-Dayer, Archer said he would love to repeat his heroics from 2019 – where he not only led England to their maiden 50-over World Cup, but also helped the Three Lions win the home Ashes. As the above-mentioned mega events are scheduled for this year too, Archer is hopeful of producing similar performances across two formats.

"Hopefully it can be a repeat of 2019," Jofra Archer told reporters in Bloemfontein ahead of the first ODI against South Africa. "We've got again a 50-over World Cup and an Ashes in the same year so more of the same, please.”

Not keen to dwell on his time spent on the sidelines due to injuries, Archer said bygones are bygones and there’s no reason to look back. Adding he has his sight set on the ODI series at hand, the fast bowler revealed he just needs some fine-tuning before hitting peak form again.

"There's no reason to look back. I've done my time and I'm here now. That's the most important thing. I'd probably say I'm about 80%. Just some fine-tuning now.”

"I know whenever I'm fully fit, I don't think there's much that can stop me, it's just a matter of when that was going to be. Playing cricket again for the first time a few weeks ago, [I'm] still riding off that wave of emotions right now,” Archer said.

Bowling coach heaps praise on Archer

Matthew Mott, England's white-ball coach had some encouraging words for Archer&nbsp;calling him the most exciting thing to have happened in cricket in the past decade. Admitting that watching him bowl from a distance is nothing less than intimidating, Mott said Archer’s presence brings a different energy into the group as well. Welcoming him with wide arms, Mott said it’s good to have Jofra back into the camp.

"Having watched him from a distance, I think he's one of the most exciting things to have happened in cricket for the last decade," Mott said. "He's full throttle, fast and brings such energy. He is one of those guys that if you are there sitting in the pub and he's bowling, you're watching. That's a big thing to have," Mott said.

"Everyone here will get a lift with him around. Bowlers like him and Mark Wood, those with extreme pace, give everyone that little bit extra confidence and fun around playing the game. He's spent a lot of time out and I know he's absolutely frothing to play. It will be great to have him," the bowling coach added.

Archer was part of the inaugural season of SA20 where he picked up eight wickets from MI Cape Town at an average of 18.00. Against South Africa in the ODIs, he would love to find his mojo back and deliver for his team.

South Africa vs England 2023: '80% fit' Jofra Archer eager to don nation's jersey after lengthy layoff

Since 2015 World Cup debacle England’s rise in white-ball cricket has been commendable. The brand of cricket they adapted left everyone far behind, and with their current approach, they look likely to take giant strides across formats going forward. In the past four years, England won two World Cups – a 50-over home World Cup in 2019 and the T20 WC in Australia last year. One core member of this extraordinary English side has been their star batter Joe Root. Having achieved what is there to achieve in his favourite format – Tests, Joe found his mojo in ODIs too. In an exclusive chat with the Times of India (TOI), Joe talked about England’s approach for the 2023 World Cup and had some encouraging words for his Test team captain Ben Stokes as well.

Joe Root on England’s approach in 2023 World Cup

Following England’s maiden 50-over World Cup win at home in 2019, they have been looked up to as a side to beat at least in white-ball cricket. Keeping an eye on defending their title in India later this year, Root said having an advantage of playing too much cricket in India could benefit them, but they don’t wish to overcomplicate things at the same time. The veteran batter added growing in confidence would be the motive heading into the big tournament like a 50-over World Cup.

On being asked if England would remain under pressure in their pursuit of a title defence in India, Root said that would anyway be there irrespective of a team having won a World Cup or not.

“There is always pressure around World Cups and big tournaments. That's a part and parcel of it. It doesn't matter whether you've won it all or not in the previous four years. It's about how you step up to the occasion. We are just making sure that we're ready, tick all the required boxes and deliver in those conditions. It's a big year for everyone,” Root said.

“One thing that we've probably got now that we didn't have four years ago, is a little bit more experience. There are still a lot of guys who have played in Indian conditions. It's great to have that experience. Guys who have played a lot of cricket in those conditions (in India) will be most important.”

“England don't want to overcomplicate things too much. All we are doing is trusting ourselves, growing in confidence, and making sure that we're as ready as we can be to peak at the right time and at those peak moments,” Root told TOI.

Stokes – the best all-rounder in the world

Having himself led England’s Test team for a considerable period, Root knows about the nitty-gritty’s of being a captain and that is where he is highly impressed with Ben Stokes – whom he called the best all-rounder in the world. Showering praises on Ben, Root said,

“Yes. I'm biased. But yes (he’s the best all-rounder in the world). One thing that Ben can do is he can win a game on his own. He can turn things with the ball. He needs just one spell to turn things upside down. The other thing is his captaincy. We've seen how good a leader he is. He is a brilliant leader - both as a captain and as a senior player. He leads from the front and his actions, on the field, are just amazing.”

In 158&nbsp;ODI games for England, Root has amassed 6207 runs at an average of 50.06 with 16 tons and 36 fifties to his name.

England's greatest fast bowler James Anderson is confident that he will be around to play in the 2025 Ashes in Australia even when he is 42. Speaking at the Tailenders podcast, Anderson said he liked being around the current crop of players and if he looked after himself, he very well may be available for the series.

England's greatest fast bowler James Anderson is confident that he will be around to play in the 2025 Ashes in Australia even when he is 42. Speaking at the Tailenders podcast, Anderson said he liked being around the current crop of players and if he looked after himself, he very well may be available for the series. "Australia away feels miles away but I just need to look after myself, bowl well and take wickets and it might creep up on me and I’ll think, 'I can do another away Ashes'. Or it might creep up and I’ll say, 'No, that’s stupid' I'll be 42 and the s*** I’ll get from the Australians will just be unbearable.’ I’ll see how it goes." “This might sound strange, but it’s just nice to be in this group and to feel wanted, to feel like they want you play in the team. So as long as that feeling is still there and I’ve still got the hunger I’ll keep going.” Read more: PAK vs ENG 2022: Ben Stokes’ captaincy style is like breath of fresh air, says veteran seamer James Anderson Anderson mentioned that he had nearly decided to quit cricket after he was left out in the cold by the English selectors ahead of the Caribbean tour last year. "There was definitely a moment when I thought that could be it." However, the subsequent changes in the English red-ball setup meant that not only Anderson was recalled but he had yet another renaissance in his bowling career. Notably, this isn't the first time that Anderson has hinted at prolonging his international career ever since the emergence of 'Bazball' brand of cricket. During last year's tour to Pakistan, Anderson commented along similar lines and said "I have been around for 20 years and [Stokes'] attacking mindset is making me think differently about the game." "It has been a breath of fresh air and I feel I could carry on for a number of years in this regime." England allrounder Moeen Ali has heaped praise on former Indian captain MS Dhoni and termed him the best captain who ever lived.&nbsp;

“MS is probably the best captain ever lived. He is a brilliant guy, and there’s so much about him. He talks a lot about cricket and talks a lot of sense," said the England vice-captain in an interview with Gulf News.&nbsp;

'MS Dhoni is the best captain': English allrounder heaps praise on former Indian skipper

2023 will see the return of the ODI World Cup. The showpiece event will be held after 2019 and India will host the marquee tournament for the first time as the sole hosts. Ahead of the tournament, to be played later this year, former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara has hinted that Asian giants such as India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka won't have it easy and can't be termed favourites given England, Australia and New Zealand have improved a lot while playing spin.

Speaking on a Star Sports show, Sangakkara pointed out that cricket changed the day that overseas nations learnt to tackle spin, something which&nbsp;wasn't the case around ten years back. "I think cricket's changed quite a lot since 2011, in those days I would say that in Asian conditions, it favours the subcontinental players. But over the years I think that England, Australia, and New Zealand have learnt to play spin a lot better than even the subcontinental sides," Sangakkara explained.&nbsp;

He further asserted that the likes of Glenn Maxwell and Jonny Bairstow&nbsp;can counter spin better than some of the subcontinental players. "You see a lot of reverse sweeps, paddle shots and sweeps, all of these new strokes using their feet. I think that has revolutionised the way we look at cricket in the subcontinent. IPL has helped a lot in terms of exposure as well," Sangakkara said on Star Sports.

'England, Australia, NZ have...': Sangakkara hints Asian giants India, Pakistan & SL not favourites for ODI WC

England Test captain Ben Stokes has hit out at ICC for not paying attention towards the scheduling of the game and survival of Test cricket. Speaking to legendary Sir Ian Botham on BBC, Stokes said cricket scheduling isn’t getting the right attention that it should by quoting an example of England’s ODI series against Australia, which was scheduled right after the T20 World Cup in October this year.

”The scheduling doesn’t get enough attention that it should. A great example is England’s one-day series against Australia after the T20 World Cup. That was shoving three games in there. It made sense to someone to schedule a series which meant nothing,” Stokes told Botham on BBC.

Stokes added with the growth of T20 and franchise cricket, Tests seem to be dying a slow death, and the way it has been spoken about of late is surely upsetting. He continued saying that it is understandable how a lot of different opportunities are there for everyone outside of red-ball cricket but to see Tests not getting prioritised is blowing his mind away.

”Test cricket has been spoken about in a way I don’t like. It is losing the attention of the fans with all the new formats and franchise competitions. We understand there are so many opportunities for players away from Test cricket. But for me it is so important for the game,” Stokes added.

Since Stokes took over the reins from Joe Root in Tests and with the addition of Brendon McCullum as the head coach, England seemed to have revamped the way the five-day format is now played or will be played in future. Introduction of ‘Bazball’ cricket has taken the cricket world by storm. Backing this attacking and result-oriented brand of cricket, Stokes said teams must now look to play for a result – that to him could work well in prolonging this format.

”Taking the result away from the mindset is a great starting point. Putting focus on making every day entertaining. Not allowing people to know what is going to happen. If people turn up excited about what they are going to watch you’ve already won before a ball has been bowled,” Ben Stokes opined.

Stokes, under whom England recently thrashed Pakistan 3-0 in an away series, said he loves playing Test cricket and believes the top-board must do something different to popularise Tests among fans, who are more attracted towards the shortest format.

”I love playing Test cricket and felt we could do something different,” added Stokes.

Ben Stokes blames ICC for not paying enough attention to scheduling, urges top-body to popularise Tests

England completed a historic Test series whitewash over hosts Pakistan on Tuesday (December 20). Resuming Day 4 needing just 55 more to chase down a paltry 167, with eight wickets in hand, opener Ben Duckett (82 not out) and Ben Stokes' 35 not out took England to a convincing win. In addition, this became the first time that hosts&nbsp;Pakistan were whitewashed in whites at&nbsp;home.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Talking about the third and final Test, England already had an unassailable 2-0 lead. Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first at their happy hunting ground; i.e. the&nbsp;National Stadium, Karachi. Riding on captain Babar Azam's 78 and Agha Salman's 56, Pakistan only managed 304. In reply, Harry Brooks scored yet another century in the series -- his third overall -- whereas fifties from Ollie Pope and Ben Foakes took England to 354 all-out, grabbing a vital 50-run lead.&nbsp;

In the third innings, Pakistan once again fell flat with many of their batters getting starts but none managing to stay for long. Babar (54), Saud Shakeel (53) were the top scorers but Jack Leach (ending with a seven-fer in the match) and debutant Rehan Ahmed (returning with a five-fer in only his second innings) rattled the hosts for 216 before England chased down 167 on the penultimate day's morning session.&nbsp;

At the post-match presentation, England captain Stokes said, "Perfect (sums up the Test series). We got a process in which we want to play, the challenge is to play on different kinds of pitches and we stuck to our gameplan and adapted really well with bat and ball. Everyone delivered. Lot spoken about the way we bat, but our bowling stood up as well. It comes down to belief. The belief we have on the team in what we were trying to do and it resonates around everybody, it's unbelievable and to be able to lead the group full of confidence, it's amazing. Every person stood up at some point and put on some kind of match winning performance."

Pakistan are out of the race for a spot in the WTC final whereas England -- eliminated much before -- ended their run in the second cycle with a historic Test series triumph on Pakistani soil. This was their first Test series in Pakistan since 2005.

Updated ICC World Test Championship points table after England whitewash Pakistan in Karachi

England beat Pakistan by eight wickets in the third and final Test in Karachi Tuesday to sweep the series 3-0 and hand the Pakistanis their first home whitewash.

Resuming on 112-2, England reached the modest 167-run target in just 38 minutes, with Ben Duckett and Ben Stokes finishing unbeaten on 82 and 35 respectively.

England won the first Test in Rawalpindi by 74 runs and the second in Multan by 26 runs. This was England's first Test tour of Pakistan since 2005, having refused to tour the South Asian country in the years since because of security concerns.

Duckett cracked his 12th boundary off fast bowler Mohammad Wasim to seal the victory on the fourth day, with England finishing on 170-2. Agha Salman dropped Stokes off-spinner Abrar Ahmed with the English captain on 22 and just 19 needed for victory.

With nine wins in their last 10 matches, England have vindicated their newly adopted freewheeling approach to Test cricket dubbed "Bazball", after the nickname of coach Brendon McCullum.

McCullum and Stokes took charge of a misfiring side in May that had won just one of their previous 17 Tests, including a 4-0 humiliation in the Ashes in Australia.

England played power-packed cricket right from the start of the Pakistan tour, smashing 506-4 to set a record for the most team runs on the opening day of a Test.

Four batters Zak Crawley, Ollie Pope, Harry Brook and Duckett scored hundreds that day, another record.

Stokes was also bold in his captaincy, setting a tantalising 343-run target for Pakistan in Rawalpindi and then setting unusual fields to get wickets.

Pakistan's problems were compounded by injuries to their fast bowlers, with Shaheen Shah Afridi ruled out before the series with a knee injury.

Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah missed the last two Tests with fitness problems.

But Pakistan suffered major batting collapses, losing their last six wickets for 108 in the first innings in Karachi and seven for 52 in the second.

Tuesday's defeat means it is also the first time Pakistan have lost four home Tests on the trot, having been beaten by Australia in Lahore in March.
