While Mumbai Indians splurged INR 1.5 crores for the 22-year-old Yastika Bhatia, Bangalore-based franchise went two steps ahead and bought in-form Richa Gosh for INR 1.9 crores.</p>

<p>The new IPL chairman Arun Dhumal expects the maiden Women's IPL season to be a huge hit and mentioned that the purpose of the tournament is to let the game reach a newer set of fans and encourage girls to pick up the sport.&nbsp;In November, Dhumal was quoted as saying by the NDTV, "Fans should make it to the stadium in large numbers whether we have the WIPL in rural areas or main city centres. We will evaluate that and take a call soon." He added, "We are working on making it one of the best women's cricket tournament in the world. What we did in the IPL, we want to do something similar with WIPL."</p>

<p>England Test captain Ben Stokes responded to popular commentator Harsha Bhogle after he shared a strong-worded Twitter thread criticising the English fans and media for spreading "vitriol" towards Deepti Sharma after her run-out of England batter Charlotte Dean at Lord's.</p>

<p>Deepti had run Dean at the non-striker's end in the recently-concluded third ODI between India and England to seal a 3-0 victory for the visitors in London. However,&nbsp;the dismissal has left&nbsp;the cricketing world divided and the debate surrounding the incident is failing to die down.</p>

<p>On Friday, Bhogle took to Twitter to put out a long thread slamming the English media for their criticism of Deepti over the run-out and said England criticising a batter being run-out at the non-striker's end for backing up too far can be a 'culture thing'.</p>

<p>“I remain disturbed by the vitriol directed towards Deepti. She played by the laws of the game and criticism of what she did must stop,” Bhogle wrote as part of his long thread.</p>

<p>Responding to his thread, Stokes refused it was a 'cultural thing' and claimed he still gets criticised by Indian fans for the way England won the 2019 ODI World Cup final.&nbsp; "Harsha ... bringing culture into peoples opinion over a Mankad?" Stokes wrote in one of his tweets.</p>

<p>Amid huge outcry over India all-rounder Deepti Sharma running out England batter Charlotte Dean at the non-striker's end in the third ODI between the two sides on Saturday, former India cricketer Virender Sehwag has mocked&nbsp;England and their fans. It was a controversial finish as India defeated England by 16 runs in the third ODI to clean sweep the three-match series 3-0.</p>
