Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli on Saturday addressed a press conference, he said that all-rounder Hardik Pandya will be able to bowl two overs for the side in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup at some stage, but his ability with the bat is priceless and there is no substitute for that.

An England side reeling from a 151-run defeat by India, and already missing several fast bowlers, could be without Mark Wood for next week's third Test after the express quick injured himself while fielding at Lord's.

Wood landed heavily on his right shoulder while diving headlong into an advertising hoarding when saving a boundary on the fourth evening, but he still bowled at speeds in excess of 93 mph (150 kph) on Monday's last day of the second Test.

There are doubts, however, over whether the Durham paceman, whose career has been blighted by injuries, will be fit to feature at Headingley, with England due to name their squad on Wednesday.

England are already without several seam bowlers in the injured Stuart Broad, Jofra Archer and Chris Woakes, while all-rounder Ben Stokes is unavailable due to a mental health break.

"The medics are working on him (Wood), we'll find out more in the next couple of days," England coach Chris Silverwood said Tuesday after a crushing loss that left his side 1-0 down in a five-match series following a rain-marred draw at Trent Bridge.

"We will make a decision, along with him and our medics, closer to the time. But if he's not right, he's not right. I certainly won't push him into playing if he tells me he's not right. I will look after him."

But for all Silverwood lauded Wood's "superb effort", many felt he should have taken greater care in the field.

"It was madness," said former England batsman Geoffrey Boycott in his column for Britain's Daily Telegraph.

"Modern-day cricketers all dive athletically to save runs and the effort is commendable, but it is not worth the risk of injury to a leading bowler," he added.

England, now without a win in their last seven Tests, repeatedly bowled too short at Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah during their unbroken ninth-wicket stand of 89.

England captain Joe Root -- who made a superb 180 not out in the first innings -- blamed himself for his side's tactics, but Silverwood said: "It's a collective and I'm part of that as well.

"We tried to go toe-to-toe with them, but what we could have done better is shift from that tactic back to Plan A, and hitting the top of off."

Silverwood, himself a former England bowler, praised Shami and Bumrah by saying: "I thought they handled the situation really well."

Meanwhile, there was no escaping England's ongoing lack of top-order runs, with a first three of Rory Burns, Dom Sibley and Haseeb Hameed each out for a duck at Lord's.

Only left-handed opener Burns, with a first-innings 49, managed a score of any note.

England may drop Sibley, averaging under 20 in Tests this year, following his duck on Monday.

But it is by no means obvious who would replace him.

Silverwood, now in sole charge of picking the squad after Ed Smith's role as national selector was axed, said: "You've got to do what's best for the team, ultimately, and find the best way of progressing England to a place where big first-innings runs -- and second-innings runs -- come in on a consistent basis."

Young batsman Ishan Kishan talked about the influence of former skipper and wicketkeeper of the Indian cricket team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Ishan said that there are very "few players who can give that much to their countries" as he praised Dhoni during a recent virtual chat. "We have all seen how he has batted from No.3 to No.6 but never complained and performed whererever he went. That's something I want to do for the team to - just go out and perform wherever I get an opportunity," added the left-handed batsman during a chat with Aakash Chopra. The 23-year-old cricketer, who scored 140 international runs from five matches (two ODIs and three T20Is) he played so far, has announced his arrival after some stunning knocks in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he scored 1284 runs in 56 matches he has played so far with a strike rate of 131.96. However, in a recent virtual interaction, posted by former India batsman Aakash Chopra on his YouTube channel, Ishan talked about a few instances when he interacted with Dhoni. "Whenever I talk to him it's generally about wicketkeeping or when we meet during the IPL, I share with him whatever I am feeling at that moment. For example, I'll tell him, 'Bhaiya, I am not able to perform after 1 good game' and he'll say, 'It might be the case that your hunger goes down after one performance and you are not focussing enough'. These are the things I discuss with him, and he gives me very simple solutions like wicketkeeping drills and that helps a lot," said Ishan.
Two wickets in two balls by Mohammad Abbas just before the close of play put the West Indies immediately on the back foot in reply to Pakistan's first innings total of 217 on the rain-affected opening day of the first Test at Sabina Park on Thursday.

At 2-2 going into the second day, with captain Kraigg Brathwaite and Roston Chase set to resume the innings, the home side will be mindful of the repeated batting capitulations they endured in being thrashed in a similar two-Test duel with South Africa two months earlier in St Lucia.

Abbas put the seal on a bowlers' day by having Kieran Powell well taken low at second slip and then trapping Nkrumah Bonner leg before next ball in a testing final 20 minutes of play.

It was Bonner's first Test innings since his brief appearance on the opening day of the South Africa series when he was forced to retire hurt after being struck flush on the helmet first ball by fast bowler Anrich Nortje.

Like Abbas, the West Indies fast bowlers justified their skipper's decision to bowl first with former leader Jason Holder and young pacer Jayden Seales taking three wickets each.

Kemar Roach lifted his tally of Test wickets to 225 in his 66th match by removing Imran Butt after half-an-hour's play and then added the important wicket of Pakistan captain Babar Azam.

Babar and former skipper Azhar Ali put on 47 for the third wicket with Azhar capturing much of the attention in the afternoon session for a bizarre succession of reprieves via referrals to the television technology with four consecutive decisions going the way of the batsman.

However it was the combined effort of left-handers Fawad Alam (56) and Faheem Ashraf (44) which gave the innings some substance.

The pair put on 85 for the sixth wicket only to be separated by a run out when Ashraf was found short of his ground by square-leg fielder Chase when seeking to complete a sharp single.

As well as the West Indies bowled on the first day pitch, the conditions were a bit of a surprise for them.

"It was a little slower than I expected it to be so I had to bowl a lot fuller and make the batsmen play a lot more," said Holder.

"I think it is going to be difficult up front with the bowlers they have available. We can look at the application showed by Faheem and Fawad and take pattern from that."

On a day when 12 wickets fell, it was the four occasions in quick succession when Azhar survived to fight on early in the post-lunch period which proved most memorable.

Twice he was reprieved by reviewing the on-field umpire's decision against him and two more times Brathwaite was unsuccessful in having not out decisions overturned via the available television technology.
