India will be looking to continue their unbeaten run in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 when they lock horns with Pakistan for the second time in the tournament on Sunday (September 04). India defeated Pakistan by five wickets in their opening clash at the Dubai International Stadium last week and will be aiming to make it two wins in a row against Babar Azam & Co. in the Super Four.

India have so far managed to live up to the favourites tag in the tournament with back-to-back wins in their first two games against Pakistan and Hong Kong. While the batters have looked in great rhythm barring the misfiring KL Rahul, the bowling attack has done reasonably well in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel.

However, India have been marred with injury woes ahead of the blockbuster clash against Pakistan as all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament due to a knee injury while fast bowler Avesh Khan is not well and might not feature on Sunday.

In Jadeja's absence, India will have major selection calls to make as they will have to pick an ideal replacement for the all-rounder. While they have a like-to-like replacement in Axar Patel, India can also rope in Deepak Hooda into the playing XI and use him as a second all-rounder alongside Hardik Pandya.

India will also have to make the tough choice between wicket-keepers Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik. Karthik had pipped Pant in the playing XI last time around but the left-hander is expected to keep his spot on Sunday as India lack a left-hander in their top four in Jadeja's absence.

Hardik will once again have to play a key role if India are to fancy their chances against Pakistan, who will be desperate to seek revenge. India might also have to make a forced change in their bowling attack if Avesh fails to make the cut.

It remains to be seen if R Ashwin takes his spot in the playing XI or if Deepak Chahar can be included in the squad from the reserves. Bhuvneshwar Kumar will continue to spearhead the pace attack along with Arshdeep Singh. India also have the option to play both Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravi Bishnoi in Jadeja's absence.

When it comes to the head-to-head record between the two sides in T20Is, India have dominated Pakistan over the years having won eight out of the ten matches played between the two teams. They remain favourites to continue their unbeaten streak against the Men in Green in the Asia Cup 2022 on Sunday.

India vs Pakistan, Asia Cup 2022 prediction:

India appear a well-oiled unit despite the absence of a key player in Ravindra Jadeja. If the Rohit Sharm-led side can find an ideal replacement for him in the XI, they will remain favourites against Pakistan, who are without pacers Shaheen Afridi and Shahnawaz Dahani. India also have momentum on their side having won their first two games.

IND vs PAK, Asia Cup 2022 prediction: Who will win today's Super Four clash between India and Pakistan?

Former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar recently offered his take on Pakistan's approach to T20 cricket and batting in the shortest format of the game.

He asserted that the Men in Green spend too long in a bid to lay the foundation for themselves while playing T20 cricket. He reviewed the Shaheens' performance in a recent post on Twitter.

Per Manjrekar, the Pakistani top order batsmen try to lay too deep a foundation which robs the middle order batsmen the opportunity to settle in comfortably and add value to their batting unit.

"Have one observation on Pakistan’s T20 cricket. They are laying too deep a foundation. For a 20-over innings, it’s unnecessary.

"What’s more it will give more opportunity to no 4,5,6 thereby making Pakistan a more wholesome batting unit, a better T20 side," wrote Manjrekar of Pakistan's performance in the shortest format of the game.

This comes shortly before Pakistan's mega-clash with arch-rivals India in the Super Four of the Asia Cup. They previously locked horns with each other in their opening clash of the tournament.

Although the Pakistani bowlers managed to mow through India's batting top order with relative ease, an awe-inspiring partnership from Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja got the Men in Blue through to the next round of their Asia Cup campaign without a loss on their record.

While Pakistani players like Naseem Shah and Mohammad Rizwan have enjoyed an extremely successful run in the ongoing Asia Cup, skipper Babar Azam's outing this time around has been nothing to write home about.

Fans will be relying on the skipper to pull through and carry the team to glory as they approach the penultimate rounds of the tournament.

Former Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez said the Indian cricket team get 'pampered' in world cricket, not because of their performances on the pitch but because of the revenue the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) generates. BCCI is the richest cricket board in the world and holds significant power among the major ICC members.

The Indian cricket team also enjoys immense popularity across the globe and a staggering viewership, making their bilateral tours a great revenue source for the host nations. While BCCI remains one of the most powerful boards in the world, India have also been a formidable team across formats, over the years.

Hafeez, who has made some absurd comments about the Indian players and the Indian cricket team in the past, made yet another ludicrous claim about the Indian team's popularity across the globe. During a discussion on Pakistan channel PTV Sports, Hafeez called India the most 'laadla' (pampered) team.

Hafeez took to Twitter to share a clip of his comments during the discussion and captioned the post 'Laadla'

"I don't know a lot, but I definitely know that in our society, whoever is the earner is loved by everyone, is the most 'laadla' (pampered), gets the most kisses from everyone," said the former Pakistan captain.

"India is a revenue-making country. So even in bilateral series across the world, where they get sponsorship, they get a jackpot, it's hard to deny these things," he added.

When the anchor went on to ask the former Pakistan all-rounder if India are the 'laadlas' because they play well or they make more money, Hafeez went on to pick the latter.

Hafeez's recent comments come days after he called Indian skipper Rohit Sharma 'weak, afraid and confused' despite his team's five-wicket win against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022 opener in Dubai. Hafeez claimed Rohit looked weak and afraid when he came out for toss against Pakistan and that his body language was not good.

"You see Rohit Sharma's expression after winning the match. This expression happened after India won by 40 runs. I had talked about Rohit Sharma's body language, when he came out to toss, he looked weak, he seemed afraid and confused. I am not being able to see Rohit Sharma, whom I have observed during matches playing incredible innings. I think captaincy is putting a lot of pressure on Rohit. He is facing a lot of difficulties," the former Pakistan all-rounder had said.

After defeating Pakistan in a thrilling encounter last week, India are all set to lock horns with their arch-rivals once again in the Super 4 stage of the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday (September 04). India 'pampered' since they make more money, not because they play well: Mohammad Hafeez

The Indian team's head coach Rahul Dravid recently attempted to abate fans' concerns, offering his take on talks surrounding Ravindra Jadeja potentially missing out on the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup due to an injury that he sustained.

Recent reports suggest that the marquee spinner is set to undergo surgery that may shackle him to the sidelines for the duration of the highly anticipated tournament. Jadeja suffered an injury to his knee that ruled him out of the remainder of India's Asia Cup campaign on Friday.

Dravid offered fans some insight into Jadeja's situation while in conversation with the media in the build-up to the second edition of India's clash against Pakistan in the Asia Cup.

To everyone's surprise, Dravid refused to rule Jadeja out of the World Cup just yet. Although he admitted that it is a strong possibility that Jadeja misses out on the tournament, he expressed reluctance in confirming or denying anything.

"The World Cup is a fair way away, so we don't want to jump to any conclusions and rule him out or rule him in. We'll see how it goes," he said.

"It's part of sports. People get injured. It's part of our job to try and manage them, manage how it goes," he added. "A lot will depend on the rehab and the severity of the injury. We'll see how it goes," Dravid asserted.

Rahul Dravid issues statement addressing talks of Ravindra Jadeja missing T20 World Cup

Senior India left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja is all set to miss the T20 World Cup in Australia as he will undergo a major knee surgery which is expected to keep him out of action for an indefinite period of time.

Jadeja, who played the first two games of the Asia Cup against Pakistan and Hong Kong, gives the team the requisite balance with his all-round abilities and the 33-year-old veteran's absence will be a big blow to Rohit Sharma's side.

"Jadeja's right knee injury is pretty serious. He is supposed to undergo a major knee surgery and will be out of action for indefinite period of time. At this point, if one goes by the assessment of the NCA's medical team, one can't put a timeline on his imminent international comeback," a senior BCCI official told PTI on the condition of anonymity.

It couldn't be immediately confirmed if it's a case of Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL), recovery from which can take a good six months. But it can be said with some certainty that Jadeja will be out of action for at least three months.

It is understood that Jadeja's knee issue has been there for a long time, and a close look at last one year would suggest that he is converting himself more into a batting all-rounder across formats, with his left-arm spin turning into a secondary skill from the primary one.

It is believed that the pounding that his right knee takes while landing of his front foot while bowling has had its impact. In his senior career (domestic and international), which also includes domestic first-class, List A and IPL games, Jadeja has bowled over 7000 overs in nearly 630 games across formats, for 897 scalps.

Add to it the overs bowled in the nets and the 13,000 runs scored at the senior level (domestic and international), and it gets worse.

It will take a considerable amount of time and a thorough rehabilitation programme before he can make a comeback to international cricket.

Ravindra Jadeja likely to undergo surgery, set to be ruled out of T20 World Cup

Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan recently offered fans some insight into the environment and mindsets that his team carry into matches against India as the arch-nemeses prepare to lock horns with each other for the second time in the Asia Cup on Sunday.

"Playing India is always a pressure game. The whole world, even beyond Asia, wait for it. The pressure will be equally on India and us, but the result will be with whoever remains brave and keeps calm," said Rizwan while in conversation with the media on Friday.

Rizwan further admitted that he often advises his teammates to keep matters simple on the pitch and maintain the same attitude regardless of who their opponent is, India or another country.

"I tell players, whether you play India or Hong Kong, it's a game of bat and ball. So keep it simple. Yes, it's a big game and our confidence is high but only hard work is in our hands, as the result is from God," declared the wicketkeeper.

Rizwan subsequently opened up about the pressure on the team to make their way into the finals and eventually emerge triumphant.

'Always a pressure game': Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan on facing India in Asia Cup 2022 yet again

A number of Indian players had blamed the lack of proper rest and the cramped schedule after India's disappointing exit from the T20 World Cup in the UAE last year. India had failed to make it to the knockout stages as they bowed out of the tournament from the group stage after a terrible show.

Following the team's exit, the debate surrounding the workload management of the players intensified as many complained of being burnt out. India have since undergone a massive transformation with Rahul Dravid at the helm of affairs and Rohit Sharma replacing Virat Kohli as the team's captain in all three formats.

While India have changed their playing approach to an extent in white-ball cricket, the team management has also focused on ensuring better workload management and regular rotation of players ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia this year.

A number of players have led India so far this year while several youngsters have also made their debuts for the team. While many have been left baffled by the constant changes in India's squad and leadership, it has now emerged that it was all pre-planned on Dravid and Rohit's part.

As per a report in the Times of India, Rohit and Rahul had pre-planned the rotation of key players and their workload management keeping the T20 World Cup 2022 in mind. A source revealed the captain and head coach held a meeting with the team's strength and conditioning coach and physios to hand them a list of players they wanted in the best possible shape for the T20 World Cup.

"The captain and coach had sat down with the strength and conditioning coach and the physios in February. They had marked the entire year's schedule. Rohit and Dravid had given them a pool of players. The support staff was told to ensure those players are available and in the best shape for theT20 World Cup. Thus, each series was marked for the players to play in," a source was quoted as saying by the Times of India.

The source further revealed that it was decided that any player who feels he is about to hit the threshold would be provided rest immediately to ensure it doesn't result in burnout. It probably explains why the likes of Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami and skipper Rohit himself have had plenty of rest so far this year.

"It has been decided that if the trainers and physios feel a player is about to hit his threshold, he will be rested straightaway. If any player reveals any discomfort, the team management is willing to rest him at that very point. It's better to err on the side of caution," the source added.

England dealt major blow ahead of T20 World Cup as Jonny Bairstow suffers freak injury

Virat Kohli's form has been under the scanner for quite a while now as he is yet to attain consistency for the Indian team across formats. Recently, there were calls for his ouster from India's T20 squad over his poor form but the senior batter has managed to shut his critics to an extent with his performances in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022.

Making his comeback for the Indian team after a short break, Kohli looked in good touch as he notched up a crucial 35-run-knock against Pakistan and followed it up with a brilliant half-century against Hong Kong on Thursday. However, despite his crucial contributions with the willow, Kohli has been under immense scrutiny.

Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif recently spoke about Kohli's recent struggles in international cricket and claimed he has never been a 'great' T20 player. Latif believes Kohli can never be compared with someone like Rohit Sharma or Suryakumar in T20s considering his inability to go after the bowlers from the word go.

Latif believes Kohli's game is best suited for an anchor's role in T20s as he takes his time in settling down before shifting gears in the middle. Latif said the likes of Rohit can utilise the Powerplay well and go after the bowlers right from the start of the innings.

"Virat Kohli has never been a great T20 player. We compare him to the likes of Kane Williamson, Joe Root or Steve Smith but none of them have been match-winning players in T20s. These all take the game along, playing an anchor role. Virat Kohli is a great ODI player. He cannot become Rohit Sharma or Suryakumar Yadav," Latif said on YouTube show 'Game On Hai'.

"He plays in the same fashion for Royal Challengers Bangalore as well. MS Dhoni is a different kind of player, if he plays 3-4 dot balls, he can hit 3-4 sixes as well. He can make up for the dot balls. Virat Kohli starts hitting after playing 30-35 balls. Rohit Sharma is the kind of player who utilises the powerplay very well," explained the former Pakistan captain.

Contrary to Latif's claims, Kohli has been one of the most prolific run-getters in T20Is. With his 59-run-knock against Hong Kong on Thursday, the Indian batting maestro had become the highest averaging player in the shortest format in international cricket. Kohli has 3,402 runs to his name in 101 T20Is at a stunning average of 50.77.

He is the third-highest run-getter overall in T20Is behind only teammate Rohit Sharma and New Zealand's Martin Guptill. Kohli will be seen in action next when India take on Pakistan for the second time in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 on Sunday (September 04).

Leg-spinner Ryan Burl took a career-best five wickets for 10 runs to help Zimbabwe beat Australia by three wickets on Saturday and a consolation win in the third one-day cricket international.

Australia won the first two matches by five and eight wickets, respectively, after winning the toss and sending Zimbabwe in to bat.

But Zimbabwe captain Regis Chakabva won the coin flip on Saturday and the story was a much different one as the visitors took three wickets inside the first 10 overs and bowled Australia out for 141 runs.

In reply, Zimbabwe reached its victory target with 66 balls to spare. Chakabva top-scored with 37 runs and Tadiwanashe Marumani added 35 on way to a winning total of 142-7. It was Zimbabwe's first ODI victory over Australia in Australia.

Left-arm seamer Richard Ngarava got skipper Aaron Finch for the third time in three ODIs. From the other end, Victor Nyauchi trapped Steve Smith leg before for one, the Australian unable to get the call reversed in a review.

Alex Carey was next to fall, caught behind after an erratic shot that left Australia 31-3 off nine overs. Marcus Stoinis and Cameron Green swiftly followed as Warner kept the scoreboard ticking from the other end.

It's been 54 innings across all formats since Warner's last century with Saturday's total the fourth time he's been dismissed in the 90s.

KL Rahul has struggled with the willow ever since making his comeback from injury. The opening batter returned for the Men in Bue in their recently-concluded tour of Zimbabwe where he led the team in the absence of several senior players. He is currently in action for the Men in Blue in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022.

Rahul has been India's first-choice opener in white-ball cricket for a while now and has been opening the batting with captain Rohit Sharma in the ongoing Asia Cup after his return. However, his performances have been far from impressive so far as the stylish right-hander has been widely criticised over his timid approach in the shortest format.

He was dismissed for a duck in India's opening game against Pakistan and followed it up with a woeful 36-run knock in 39 balls against minnows Hong Kong in their second game. Amid his struggles with the willow, India legend Sunil Gavaskar has issued a stern warning to Rahul.

Former India captain Gavaskar believes Rahul's poor form is a huge concern for the Indian team heading into the T20 World Cup 2022 later this year and that he should be replaced if cannot spark a turnaround. Gavaskar named Shubman Gill as an ideal replacement for Rahul at the top.

"See, Shubman Gill has batted so brilliantly in Zimbabwe and West Indies so there definitely is a stiff fight for the opening slot, the fight is tough. So if you aren't scoring runs and not in form then it's concerning. It's a matter of the World Cup, where you should only take players who are in form," Gavaskar said on Sports Tak.

Gill is not the only contender for the second opening slot as far as T20I are concerned for Team India. The likes of Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad are also in the fray and have been waiting in the wings for opportunities. Gavaskar believes India cannot take a chance with Rahul as only a handful of T20I matches remain in the run-up to the T20 World Cup.

"There is no scope of taking a chance with someone there, hoping that after 2-3 matches, a player will return to form. No. Because all World Cup matches are tough. Rahul has a few matches left and he will have to score runs otherwise, the selection committee will think what to do next," Gavaskar explained.

Sri Lanka batter Bhanuka Rajapaksa has compared his team's rivalry with Bangladesh in cricket to that of arch-rivals India and Pakistan. Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by two wickets in a thrilling encounter in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 on Thursday to knock them out of the tournament.

India and Pakistan share one of the greatest rivalries in the history of cricket. It is a blockbuster affair when the two teams meet irrespective of the competition. Rajapaksa believes the rivalry between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh has also intensified over the years and brings the fans on the edge of their seats.

There were several heated moments between the two teams as they locked horns in the Asia Cup on Thursday. They were also involved in war of words off the pitch and Sri Lankan all-rounder Chamika Karunaratne added fuel to the fire by pulling off the 'Naagin dance' (snake dance) in the dugout after his team's 2-wicket win in Dubai.

Speaking about the rivalry between the two teams, Rajapaksa said it is like when India and Pakistan play each other. "It's like India-Pakistan playing. Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are rivals. But we are really good friends off the field," the Sri Lankan batter said in the post-match presser.

It was a valiant effort from Sri Lanka as they didn't head into the game as favourites. They even ended up conceding 183 runs after winning the toss and opting to bowl first. However, a brilliant knock of 60 runs from wicket-keeper batter Kusal Mendis and captain Dasun Shanaka's 33-ball 45 helped them chase down the target of 184 runs with four balls to spare.

Rajapaksa believes the win will serve as a huge confidence booster for the Sri Lankan players ahead of the Super Four stage. Explaining the secret behind their good show against Bangladesh, the batter said playing together in the last few months has brought the team closer.

"We are happy because after winning a game, it's quite thrilling and what we need is winning games. We came here to justify ourselves to the UAE. This tournament was supposed to be held in Sri Lanka, but unfortunately, with the situation back home, we couldn't keep it in Sri Lanka," said Rajapaksa.

"But with all the experience that the players have gained playing together in the last maybe 12 or 15 months, it has brought us much closer as a team," he added.

Hong Kong batsman Kinchit Shah usually handles the family diamond business and he sparkled in a losing cause against India, studding an innings of 30 with two fours and a six in the T20 Asia Cup.

The Mumbai-born vice-captain, who proposed to his girlfriend after the match in Dubai on Wednesday, is part of an eclectic mix of pizza delivery men and university students representing Hong Kong against Asia's cricket giants in the UAE this week.

The talented band of expatriates have been on the road since June, culminating in a berth in the main draw of the six-nation Asia Cup after winning all three qualifying matches.

They lost to top-ranked India by 40 runs on Wednesday, but only after a fight in their chase of 193.

"It's a big learning curve for us to play against India and Pakistan. We take something out of these two games and hopefully the players learn a lot."

The team's media manager Smita Chhetri told AFP that three players, Babar Hayat, Ehsan Khan and Yasim Murtaza, have recently become fathers but have only seen their newborns on video calls. For most players in Hong Kong, cricket is not the only means of livelihood as opportunities for the national team are few and far between.

"A few of our players are doing food delivery service part time," Chhetri said. "And few of them are teachers as well as handling family businesses like Kinchit Shah."

Fast bowler Ayush Shukla, a 19-year-old university student, celebrated the wicket of India skipper Rohit Sharma with a scream and fist bumps when he got the opener caught at mid-on for 21.

The experienced Hayat top-scored with 41, Kinchit made 30, Zeeshan Ali was 26 not out and Manchester-born Scott McKechnie smacked an unbeaten 16 off eight balls as they all impressed in a rare chance to play at the highest level.

"These are the opportunities for individuals as well," said Nizakat, adding his team were making the most of their time at the Asia Cup by picking the brains of world-class Pakistani cricketers.

"We have players that can play franchise cricket and this is the time they can show how good they are."

Their next match against Pakistan on Friday in Sharjah could be their last in the tournament, but skipper Nizakat Khan said they had been flooded with praise from loved ones in their adopted home. Also Read: Bangladesh-Sri Lanka rivalry is like India vs Pakistan, says Sri Lanka batter Bhanuka Rajapaksa "We have lots of support back in Hong Kong. We have lots of messages from family and friends," said Pakistan-born Nizakat. "It's a big learning curve for us to play against India and Pakistan. We take something out of these two games and hopefully the players learn a lot." The team's media manager Smita Chhetri told AFP that three players, Babar Hayat, Ehsan Khan and Yasim Murtaza, have recently become fathers but have only seen their newborns on video calls. For most players in Hong Kong, cricket is not the only means of livelihood as opportunities for the national team are few and far between. "A few of our players are doing food delivery service part time," Chhetri said. "And few of them are teachers as well as handling family businesses like Kinchit Shah." Fast bowler Ayush Shukla, a 19-year-old university student, celebrated the wicket of India skipper Rohit Sharma with a scream and fist bumps when he got the opener caught at mid-on for 21. "We have players that can play franchise cricket and this is the time they can show how good they are." Ehsan Khan, who once represented the city of Rawalpindi in Pakistan, returned final qualifier man-of-the-match figures of 4-24 with his off-spin. Hong Kong are coached by former Ireland fast bowler Trent Johnston, who said they deserved their place in the top-tier tournament. "They believe in themselves," he said. "They go out there and execute their plans, play positive cricket and I think it's a great opportunity for the world to see how good at cricket Hong Kong is."

Businessmen to delivery boys: Hong Kong cricketers shine on big stage

Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting wants to see Virat Kohli return to form and be at his best in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 later this year. Kohli is currently in action for India in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 in the UAE where he has shown glimpses of his prime past with two useful knocks against Pakistan and Hong Kong, respectively.

Kohli made his comeback for Team India in the Asia Cup after a month-long break as he was rested from India's tour of West Indies and Zimbabwe amid questions over his spot in the T20I team. All eyes were on the senior batter on his comeback against Pakistan amid debates over his poor form.

While he couldn't notch up a big knock, Kohli made a crucial contribution with 35 runs to help India beat Pakistan and get off to a winning start. He followed it up with a brilliant half-century against Hong Kong. Speaking about Kohli's revival, Ponting said he was pleased to see the Indian batting maestri back among the runs.

"First and foremost, great to see him back in the runs. No surprise that he did it in a run chase. We’ve always known that about him. His record suggests he is better when his team is chasing runs," Ponting said on the latest ICC review after Kohli's performance against Pakistan.

The Australian cricket legend also spoke about Kohli's recent revelations regarding his mental health struggles and said the senior India batter is playing with more freedom now. Kohli had recently revealed for the first time in ten years, that he didn't touch his bat even once during his one-month break away from cricket.

Ponting wishes to see Kohli at his best in the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia and be one of the best players in the tournament.

"When I saw his runs and then I've read on social media over the last few days, it sounded like he found himself in quite a dark place. Like a lot of us men, he wasn’t willing to talk about it and share it," said the former Australia captain.

“It sounds like when he has started to share, started to talk, it might have just freed him up a bit and he started to feel better about himself again.

"I just hope that we see him back at his best and in the World Cup. I’d rather see Virat come out here (in Australia) and be one of the leading players in the tournament, but just make sure he doesn’t score many runs against Australia when they play," he added.

Kohli will look to continue his fine form with the willow when India lock horns with the winner of the match between Pakistan and Hong Kong in the Super 4 on Sunday (September 04).

I just hope to see Virat Kohli back at his best in T20 World Cup, says Ricky Ponting

India faced Hong Kong in their second game in Asia Cup 2022 edition on Wednesday (August 31) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. Beating arch-rivals Pakistan by five wickets in a thrilling contest, at the same venue, Rohit Sharma & Co. were favourites to get past minnows Hong Kong and did the same.

Being asked to bat first, India rode on Virat Kohli's calculative 44-ball 59 not out and Suryakumar Yadav's scintillating 26-ball unbeaten 68. At the start of the Indian innings, Rohit tried his best to up the ante before falling for a 13-ball 21. His partner KL Rahul failed to create an impact and scored an unimpressive 36 off 39 deliveries despite stitching a handy 56-run second-wicket stand with Virat. After his departure, SKY came and took on the Hong Kong bowlers with ease, maneuvering the field and resorting to his innovative shots. He ended with half a dozen sixes and as many fours. Out of his 6 sixes, four came in the final over.

In the 20th over, SKY went bonkers taking on Haroon Arshad all across the ground, accumulating a whopping 26 runs (6, 6, 6, 0, 6, 2). With this, the 31-year-old topped the charts with the most sixes by an Indian in a T20 Asia Cup encounter. Before him, no Indian batter had hit in excess of 3 sixes in a single T20 Asia Cup match, hence, SKY has moved past all in style.

In addition, Surya recorded the most runs by an Indian batter (26) in the final over of a T20I. Courtesy of his blitz, India posted a mammoth 192-2 and defended the target with ease -- despite the two young pacers Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan having an off day -- to restrict a spirited Hong Kong line-up for 152-5 in 20 overs. With the 40-run win, India join Afghanistan (who is in Group B) to qualify for the Super Four round.

At the post-match presentation, Player-of-the-Match SKY said, "Some of them (shots) are predetermined, this format is all about what you think and how you prepare before you go out to bat. My role was to go in and take the tempo up and just express myself, I just loved it. Indian skipper and one of the most prolific performers in the history of the team, Rohit Sharma, is seemingly all set to entertain his fans without his bat. While Sharma has been a mainstay in the Indian cricketing fraternity, he may be dipping his toes in the deep waters of big-screen entertainment.

Sharma alluded to the same with a cryptic post on social media. As India marches on in the Asia Cup tournament, looking to successfully defend their title after having broken into the Super Four, Sharma a poster of what could presumably belong to a film, documentary or a similar venture.

The poster betrayed the fact that the trailer for his new venture will drop on 4th September. However, Sharma withheld any and all information regarding what the trailer was truly for, leaving fans vying for some answers.

"Butterflies in my stomach. A debut of a kind," wrote Sharma in the caption of the post. Keeping the caption in mind, it is fair to assume that Sharma, much like his fans, is brimming with anticipation and excitement for his upcoming foray into cinema.

Rohit Sharma alludes to a potential cinematic debut in cryptic post on social media

Former Pakistan skipper and one of their most prolific batsmen, Mohammad Hafeez recently offered a scathing review of Rohit Sharma's performance as the captain of team India. In addition to claiming that he looks lost, and weak, Hafeez declared that Sharma currently runs the risk of losing his captaincy.

Sharma has led the Men in Blue to two triumphs in their ongoing Asia Cup campaign, with one victory coming against their arch-rivals, Pakistan. However, it seems like Hafeez is far from impressed.

In a video that he recently shared on social media, Hafeez was seen flaming Sharma for the way he has gone about performing his duties as skipper. Hafeez, who was analysing his performance in a segment on PTV, declared that captaincy had exacted a heavy toll on Sharma.

Hafeez broke down Sharma's mannerisms in the aftermath of India's clash against Hong Kong, which they went on to win by a margin of 40-runs. Despite walking away with the win, India were not at their best and matters could have gone down to the wire if it weren't for a scintillating performance from Suryakumar Yadav.

"Look at his expression. This is Rohit Sharma’s expression after the game got finished. And they have won by 40 runs. His body language was weak when he came out to toss. Former Pakistan skipper believes Rohit Sharma will lose his captaincy, claims he ‘looks lost’

With his most recent Asia Cup outing, in which he showed glimpses of his old self, Virat Kohli made his way into the T20I record books as he became the player with the highest average in the shortest format of the game.

He managed to accomplish the feat during India's Group A clash against Hong Kong at the Dubai International Stadium. He built an extremely interesting partnership with Suryakumar Yadav, personally putting 59* runs on the board off of 44 balls. He stormed to this score, bagging one four and three sixes.

Kohli has scored 3,402 runs in the T20I format at an average of 50.77 over the course of 101 matches, effectively becoming the player with the highest average in this format. He did so by surpassing Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan, who boasts of an average of 50.14, which he has consolidated across 57 matches.

In addition, Kohli also recently equalled yet another record that is held by his teammate and skipper, Rohit Sharma, for the highest number of 50-plus scores in the T20I format, by upping his tally to 31. Of these half centuries, his best score to date has been that of 94*.

Despite this recent slew of successes on the pitch, Kohli is yet to bring an end to a lengthy century drought that has plagued him for over a thousand days. This drought, in addition to a series of disappointing performances, prompted a clear break from the sport, which came to an end just before the start of the Asia Cup.

Since his return to active contention, Kohli has repeatedly asserted that his vigour and desire to perform well on the pitch have been renewed. While an international ton still eludes him, based on his recent performances, he is certainly well on his way to bagging it sooner rather than later.

Virat Kohli bags impressive T20I record following inspiring performance against Hong Kong in Asia Cup

India's Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli put on an absolutely inspiring performance in their latest Asia Cup outing against Hong Kong to record 98 runs for the 3rd wicket. Between the two it was Yadav who shone the brightest, impressing fans and pundits with batting prowess as he consistently found the boundary.

In the penultimate over of the innings, Yadav smashed Hong Kong's Haroon Arshad for four sixes. What makes the feat all the more impressive is the fact that at one point in the over, it seemed like Yadav could have bagged half a dozen sixes. However, that didn't come to pass as he failed to score any runs on the fourth delivery of the over.

Suryakumar Yadav broke down his performance against Hong Kong while in conversation with Virat Kohli in an on-field discussion that was conducted after the match. The footage of their interaction was subsequently shared on social media by the BCCI.

During their candid interaction, Kohli quizzed Yadav about his mindset in the final over of the game, wondering whether the prospect of levelling Yuvraj Singh's seemingly outlandish record was playing on his mind.

"Surya you hit 4 Sixes in last over, do you feel like you could have targeted 6 Sixes & become 2nd Indian to do that?" Kohli wondered.

"I was trying my best but let's not get past Yuvi Paa," asserted Suryakumar Yadav in response.

'Did you think of matching Yuvraj Singh's six sixes feat?' Suryakumar Yadav gives epic reply to Virat Kohli

KL Rahul had a forgettable outing for Team India in their second game in the Asia Cup 2022 edition, where they locked horns with Hong Kong at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. On Wednesday evening (August 31), Rohit Sharma-led India locked horns with the minnows and rode on Suryakumar Yadav's 26-ball 68 not out and Virat Kohli's 59* to post 192-2 before restricting Hong Kong for 152-5 to win by 40 runs. While it was a fine outing for the Men in Blue, vice-captain Rahul was heavily criticised for his abysmal 39-ball 36.

Rahul, returning to international cricket during the Zimbabwe series last month, struggled to open his account and was dismissed for a golden duck versus Pakistan in defending champions India's Asia Cup opener. Versus Hong Kong, he opened with captain Rohit and fell on the last ball of the 13th over, after stitching a handy 54-run stand with Virat Kohli, before his dismissal. The right-hander hit only two fours in his innings. Thus, many slammed Rahul on social media and some former cricketers also had few words to say about his struggles.

Former Indian opener-turned-commentator Sunil Gavaskar came to Rahul's support after the Hong Kong tie. Speaking to India Today, he said, "I think KL Rahul is a class act. With the kind of performance he has had over the years for India... if you give others a long rope, why can't we give KL Rahul a long rope? He is your vice-captain as well. You give him a long rope because we have all seen what he is capable of in the T20 format."

"He is coming back from an injury, so that rhythm is not quite there but the rhythm will come and when it comes, it will be devastating for the opposition," he added.

On the other hand, former off-spinner Pragyan Ojha said, "He brings experience. He just needs a couple of games and he will be back. He has been there and done that. I am not too concerned because others are doing well and the team is winning. This will rub off on him.

"He is just one knock away from finding his form. The shots that he played, he timed them well. He was not struggling for timing. I felt he was timing them well. So I think he's just there and it's a matter of time," he further asserted.

A seemingly perennial century drought building on a slew of underwhelming performances on the pitch forced Indian cricket mega-star Virat Kohli to consider taking a step back from the sport for a short while. Over the course of his break from competitive cricket, Kohli missed out on the opportunity to compete in India's tour of the West Indies and Zimbabwe.

However, he has since returned to active contention, playing a vital role in India's top batting order. Although his first match after the break against arch-nemeses Pakistan was nothing to write home about, Kohli put on an inspiring knock of 59 off of 44 balls in their subsequent outing against Hong Kong at the Dubai International Stadium.

Although he recorded a slow start to his stint against Hong Kong, his uber-impressive partnership with Suryakumar Yadav played a vital role in earning India the win. Numerous doubts have been raised about his efficacy in the shortest format of the game.

In response to those claims, Kohli recently expressed a great deal of confidence in his abilities, asserting that he was more focussed on how he feels while batting instead of putting a tremendous amount of stock on the runs he records and the milestones he crosses.

While discussing his break and his performance in the Asia Cup so far with Suryakumar Yadav in a video that was released by the BCCI, Kohli admitted that he was truly enjoying his time on the pitch.

"I have come out from a decent break of six weeks. I came back mentally fresh. I loved my last innings too against the quality attack because I know that my job is to stabilize the innings and build a partnership and, when the situation allows, take a risk and hit a boundary every now and then. A seemingly perennial century drought building on a slew of underwhelming performances on the pitch forced Indian cricket mega-star Virat Kohli to consider taking a step back from the sport for a short while.

Global T20 star Tim David has earned a call-up to the Australian side for the upcoming tour to India and the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 on the back of his hard-hitting performances in leagues across the world.

The 15-member Australian squad for the tour of India for a three-match T20I series from September 20-26 and the ICC T20 World Cup was announced on Thursday. David`s selection over leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson is the only change made in the side that brought the trophy home in the 2021 edition.

David was born to Australian parents in Singapore and he moved to Perth as a two-year-old kid. He has represented Singapore in 14 matches and has scored 558 runs at an average of 46.50 with four half-centuries. Under ICC rules, he is completely eligible to wear Aussie colours immediately.

This explosive batter has the backing of Australian great Ricky Ponting, who has described him as "an out and out match winner". "He`s the sort of player that could actually win you a World Cup. He is not just the average run-of-the-mill guy that might just sneak into a squad ...

"He actually reminds me a bit of someone like an Andrew Symonds back in the 2003 World Cup. You know if you get them in and you give him an opportunity, they are a chance of winning a tournament for you."

Cricket.com.au quoted Ponting as saying of the 26-year-old recently. "That is how I would be looking at him right now. I know there are some other great world-quality players in the middle order for Australia, but probably none of them boasts the resume as good as Tim`s over the last two years," he added.

During the last two years, David has scored 1,874 runs in 86 T20 matches at a stunning strike rate of 168.40. He averages a boundary every 4.5 balls and his strike rate goes up to an impressive 204.80 during overs 16-20. He was purchased by Mumbai Indians for a massive A$ 1.53 million back in February.

In the season, his strike rate of 216.28 was the highest by any player to have faced at least fifty balls in a single season. He entered IPL on back of his performances in the Pakistan Super League, where he hit 278 runs at an impressive SR of 194.41. He was initially sounded off by Aussie selectors for the home T20 series against Sri Lanka.

The 26-year-old fared amazingly in the T20 Blast competition in England after a breakout IPL season. He scored 405 runs at an impressive strike rate of 174.57. He can also bowl some off-break spin occasionally, having taken 12 wickets in 121 T20 matches.

He also played one game for Tasmania in the 2021-22 Marsh One Day Cup against Western Australia, in which he smashed 36 off 23 balls and took 2/25. David is yet to make his first-class debut and has featured in 16 List A matches, most of them with Surrey, for who hit two centuries and averaged 68 with a strike rate of 150.44.

He adds an X-factor to an already balanced Australian team. "This is a similar squad to that which became the first Australian`s men`s team to win a T20 World Cup, who are now very excited about playing the tournament at home.

"Mitchell Swepson was unlucky to miss out based on conditions in the UAE at the last World Cup where we planned for tired, spinning wickets compared to what we would expect are good batting conditions along with the larger grounds in Australia," Chairman of Selectors George Bailey said in a statement.

"Tim (David) continues to establish himself with some quality performances in leagues around the world, earning a place in the squad. He is a highly gifted, natural ball striker who will add extra batting depth to the group which has had a lot of success in T20 cricket in recent times. We expect him to play a similar role to that he has been playing in the past few years," he added.

David started his career with Perth Scorchers in Big Bash League but his move to Hobart Hurricanes in BBL 10 was when he started to make a name for himself, scoring an impressive 33-ball 58 on debut against reigning champs Sydney Sixers.

All-rounder Mitchell Marsh retains his place in the squad despite returning to Perth with ankle soreness on Tuesday after Aussies win over Zimbabwe in the first ODI. Australia`s T20 World Cup campaign begins on October 22 in Sydney with a trans-Tasman clash against New Zealand.

Asia Cup: India seal Super Four spot with decisive victory against Hong Kong

With his latest outing against Asia Cup rivals Hong Kong at the Dubai International Stadium, Rohit Sharma reached an extremely impressive milestone, effectively becoming the only player to boast of a unique record.

Although Sharma's performance against Hong Kong was nothing to write home about, it was just enough to earn him the mantle of the first player to reach 3500 runs in the shortest format of the game. His total haul of runs in the T20I format stands at a whopping 3,520.

He recorded the feat in the fourth ball that he faced against Hong Kong with a simple single. However, he failed to build on his impressive tally of runs as he could only manage to accumulate 21 runs off of 13 balls. During his short-lived stint on the pitch against Hong Kong, Sharma managed to put on a pair of fours and a six on the scoreboard.

However, it is interesting to note that Sharma, who happens to be the highest run-getter in the format, is only the first male player to record the impressive feat considering how New Zealand's Suzie Bates beat him to the pie as she currently has an uber-impressive run tally of 3531.

The Pakistan Cricket Board recently found itself at the receiving end of a significant amount of hate and flak from former all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez. He slammed the national board for the time that they took to effectively deal with ace pacer Shaheen Afridi's injury.

The Shaheens' bowling order was recently dealt an extremely tough blow after their star bowler was ruled out of active contention due to a knee injury that he sustained while fielding back in July during the first Test against Sri Lanka.

A lot has been said of Afridi, who has since been shackled to the sidelines, and the rate of his recovery. Owing to the fateful injury, Afridi was forced to miss out on the second Test against Sri Lanka, the subsequent series against the Netherlands, and the ongoing Asia Cup tournament. On Monday, the board revealed that Shaheen was London-bound to receive further medical attention to fast-track his road to recovery.

Discussing Afridi's recovery in a video that he recently shared on social media, Hafeez was seen slamming the board for failing to seek the appropriate medical intervention and rehabilitation at the moment the extent of his injury was revealed.

"The things that I read and heard over the last few days, there was an official post. So this time period of 4 weeks or 6 weeks or 8 weeks - since the time he got injured, I think wasting this time is a criminal act," he asserted.

The Pakistan Cricket Board recently found itself at the receiving end of a significant amount of hate and flak from former all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez. He slammed the national board for the time that they took to effectively deal with ace pacer Shaheen Afridi's injury. My views on @iShaheenAfridi injury.
