A woman in China lured 36 men into buying houses in a specific area after going out with them for barely two months. The strange incident happened in Shenzhen where a woman went on pretend dates with several men and within weeks they were discussing marriage. She asked each man to buy a house first in two residential blocks in Huizhou and Guangdong province, reported Guangdong TV. All of them did, and the woman ghosted them after that.
The woman who pulled the "sales" scam has been identified as Liu Jia. She met the men online and it quickly transformed into a physical meeting.

One of the victims, with the alias Atao, said that he also met Liu on an online platform in March last year, SCMP reported.
Liu appeared to be the "perfect girlfriend" and gave the "impression of being tender, virtuous, family-oriented and considerate", Atao told the media. Liu told Atao that she was 30 years old and hailed from the Hunan province. She said that she was employed in the electric-commerce industry in Shenzhen.

<h2>Liu asked the men to buy a house</h2>
After only a month into the relationship, they discussed getting married. However, Liu told him that he must first buy a house before she could meet his parents and live with him. She even offered to pitch in for the down payment and was ready to pay 30,000 yuan (US$4,000).
She strongly insisted that they buy the house in two blocks in Huizhou - Jiu Jing Tai and Hao Yi Shang Yuan. Once Atao bought the flat, Liu refused to add her name to the ownership certificate.
<h2>Liu ghosted the men after they bought the house</h2>
After the process was over, Liu distanced herself and stopped taking Atao's calls and soon completely vanished from his life. Atao is now left with a home loan of 4,100 yuan (US$560) per month, besides the rent he needs to pay on his current house and the money needed to take care of his parents. He has sworn off girlfriends altogether. "I dare not have a girlfriend now," said Atao.
Another victim, identified as Wang, also experienced a similar fraud. &ldquo;After I bought the house, Liu Jia refused to meet me using the excuse of being busy,&rdquo; Wang said. &ldquo;She blocked me from calling her and deleted me from her contact list.&rdquo;
Atao says that as per his calculations, Liu cheated a total of 36 men in Shenzhen.
Social media is abuzz with Liu's antics, with one calling her "the sales champion of a real estate developer".&nbsp;

‘If US wants war, we’re ready to fight’: China warns Trump amid tariff row

Day after US President Donald Trump confirmed his decision to implement tariffs, China and Canada announced retaliatory measures against America.&nbsp;
Trump's new tariffs include a 25 per cent levy on most imports from Canada and Mexico, with an additional 10 per cent tariff on Canadian energy exports. Moreover, he also increased tariffs on Chinese goods from 10 per cent to 20 per cent.&nbsp;
China on Tuesday (March 4) responded by imposing additional tariffs of 10-15 per cent on a variety of US agricultural imports.&nbsp;
China's finance ministry said that the tariffs would be imposed starting next week.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that his country would impose immediate 25 per cent tariffs on over USD 20 billion worth of US imports.&nbsp;

His mistress, Jing, had used this poison to kill him, soaking his underwear in it and also adding some of it to his cough medicine. Zhou's family suspected he was killed after his daughter got a rat poison test done on his cough medicine which found the presence of toxic substances.

‘Drugs are still pouring in’: Trump confirms 25 per cent tariffs on Canada, Mexico; doubles duty on China

Taiwan detained a Chinese-crewed cargo ship on Tuesday after a subsea telecoms cable was severed off the island, the coast guard said.
It is the latest in a series of Taiwanese undersea cable breakages, with previous incidents blamed on natural causes or Chinese ships.
Taiwan's Chunghwa Telecom reported the cable between Penghu, a strategic island group in the sensitive Taiwan Strait, and Taiwan was disconnected early Tuesday, the Ministry of Digital Affairs said.
The Togolese-registered ship Hongtai was intercepted in the area and escorted back to Taiwan, the coast guard said.
The case was being "handled in accordance with national security-level principles", it added.
"Whether the cause of the undersea cable breakage was intentional sabotage or a simple accident remains to be clarified by further investigation."
The Hongtai, using a flag of convenience, was crewed by eight Chinese&nbsp;nationals and had Chinese funding, the coast guard said.

Locals and Taipei officials suspected that Chinese fishing vessels or sand dredgers, which often drop anchor or scrape the seabed in Taiwanese waters, may have been responsible.
The Taiwanese coast guard identified last month 52 "suspicious" Chinese-owned ships flying flags of convenience from Mongolia, Cameroon, Tanzania, Togo, and Sierra Leone for close monitoring.

Chinese scientists have found a new bat coronavirus that carries the risk of animal-to-human transmission and is similar to the one that caused the COVID-19 pandemic.&nbsp;
The virus named HKU5-CoV-2, was found to use the same human receptor as SARA-CoV-2, which was responsible for COVID-19, South China Morning Post reported.&nbsp;
Chinese research team led by virologist Shi Zhengli discovered HKU5-CoV-2. Zhengli is also known as "Batwoman" for her work on coronaviruses, especially at the Wuhan Institute, the centre of the theory suggesting COVID-19 came from a lab leak, which was denied by Zhengli.&nbsp;

A popular Chinese tourist village, famous for its winter wonderland scenery, has issued an apology for artificially creating "snow" using cotton wool and soapy water after unseasonably warm weather ruined the natural snow.
The warm weather hit Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province, during the Lunar New Year holiday in late January, disappointing tourists who had been looking forward to enjoying snow at the city's snow village.

China’s retaliatory import taxes on US goods go into effect

In a further escalation of the US-China trade war, Beijing announced on Tuesday (Feb 4) that it would impose 15 per cent tariffs on imports of coal and liquefied natural gas from the United States.
"A 15 percent tariff will be imposed on coal and liquefied natural gas (LNG)," Beijing's finance ministry said, adding the tariffs come into force next Monday.

China faces new virus outbreak- What is HMPV? A few FAQs answered

Days after China declared to create two new counties in Xinjiang, out of which one is made up mainly of Indian territory, India on Friday (Jan 3) responded to the reports, stressing that India has never accepted the illegal Chinese occupation of Indian territory in this area. &nbsp;
Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal &nbsp;while addressing a weekly briefing said that the "so-called counties" fall in India's Union Territory of Ladakh.&nbsp;
"We have seen the announcement pertaining to the establishment of two new counties in Hotan Prefecture of China. Parts of the jurisdiction of these so-called counties fall in India's Union Territory of Ladakh," he said.&nbsp;

"We have seen the announcement pertaining to the establishment of two new counties in Hotan Prefecture of China. Parts of the jurisdiction of these so-called counties fall in India's Union Territory of Ladakh," he said. The sculptures will be publicly displayed at the Avenue of Stars in Tsim Sha Tsui, a well-known shopping location following showcasing in three more places this month, including Ocean Park, where the twin cubs reside with their parents and two other pandas that were gifted by Beijing earlier this year.

Six of the panda sculptures were inspired by these bears. The sculptures are made of rubber barrels, resins and other materials.

The mother of the cubs, Ying Ying, who became the world’s oldest first-time panda mother in August, may be open to visitors by February next year.

In another event on Monday (Dec. 2) at Ocean Park, the new pair of pandas, An An and Ke Ke, that arrived from Beijing, were open to media preview. While An An was seen enjoying bamboo, Ke Ke climbed on an installation. They will be open to visit by the public on Sunday, December 8.

The research team at the National Key Laboratory of Mobile Communications at Southeast University discovered that laying two parallel cables on the inner wall can “leak” electromagnetic signals and help in maintaining a stable connection between smartphones and service providers.

Additionally, the team led by Professor Song Tiecheng found that efficient codes can be used to solve the issue of disturbances in the frequency changes. This method has been verified by computer models for maintaining 5G communication quality during travel. The paper was published in the journal Railway Signalling &amp; Communication last month.

They have started high-speed propulsion on the prototype projects. Many Chinese cities are awaiting permission from Beijing to build the first commercial vacuum tube maglev line.&nbsp;

This “hyperloop” was first proposed by SpaceX founder Elon Musk. This technology can also be used in spacecraft and help lower the cost. However, Musk did not continue the project due to technological and financial constraints.&nbsp;
