According to police, a bomb-like object, fitted with a timer, was found near a house in Vivaknand Nagar sector-4, under the jurisdiction of Aravali Vihar police station. The discovery prompted an immediate police response and sealing of the surrounding area. After securing the area, cops shifted the suspicious object to Jaisamand dam, located around 6.5 kilometres from the city, imposing restrictions on the movement of people in the area. The entire area surrounding the dam was cordoned off as a precautionary measure. The bomb disposal squad destroyed the object by triggering a controlled blast. The explosion sounded like a firecracker without causing any damage. The squad confirmed no explosive material was found inside the object. In response to the threat, emergency response teams have been dispatched to the school and classes have been shifted to online mode, Delhi Police said.

On December 14, the Delhi Police Special Cell identified a student of a private school as the person who had sent a bomb threat email to the Paschim Vihar school.
According to police, the student had sent the threat email to his school, and after tracing the IP address, the police team traced his home. Upon questioning, the child admitted to the act and was later counselled. He was let off with a warning to his parents to keep a watch on his behaviour.
On December 14 and 17, several schools in Delhi received bomb threat emails. Furthermore, on December 13, a total of 30 schools across Delhi were targeted with hoax bomb threat emails.

The threat email read as follows, "A secret dark web group is involved in this activity and many red rooms also. The bombs are powerful enough to destroy the buildings and harm people. Following the threat call, the Air India flight prompted authorities to activate the emergency protocol as the flight landed at 2:41 pm (Nepal Standard Time) at the airport.&nbsp;

"We didn't find any suspicious or explosives on board the plane. It is preparing to take flight following the procedures," Kiran Bajracharya, AIG at Valley Police Office, Ranipokhari, confirmed to ANI over the phone.

After four hours of searching, it was proved that it was a hoax call as no suspicious objects were found.

“According to protocol, no dangerous objects were found during the security checks, and the situation at the airport is currently normal. It is a second hoax call within a week,”&nbsp;Information officer at the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Gyanendra Bhul, confirmed to the news agency over the phone.

Over the past few weeks, more than 400 Indian flights, including Air India, Vistara and Air Akasa have received bomb threats.&nbsp;

Following these recurrent incidents,&nbsp;India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has asked social media platforms to observe due diligence obligations and promptly disable access to misinformation within the strict timelines prescribed under the country's IT rules.&nbsp;

Indian airline flight bound for New Delhi from Nepal receives hoax bomb threat amid rise in similar incidents

Days after a wave of bomb hoaxes affected&nbsp;several Indian flights, at least 85 flights of IndiGo, Air India, Vistara, and Akasa Air received similar threats on Thursday (Oct 24).&nbsp;

These threats targeted 20 flights from Air India, 20 from Indigo, 20 from Vistara and another 25 from Akasa Airlines, according to officials.&nbsp;

Till Thursday, over 250 flights have been impacted by hoax bomb threats in the past 10 days.

The Central government is planning wide-ranging legislative actions to deal with bomb threats to airlines, including placing the perpetrators on the no-fly list.

Over the past eight days, the Delhi Police have registered eight separate First Information Reports (FIR) in connection with bomb threats to over 90 domestic and international flights.&nbsp;

<h2>'X abetting crime'</h2>

Indian government officials held a virtual meeting with the representatives of social media platforms such as X and Meta and airlines to discuss the issue.&nbsp;

The virtual meeting was chaired by Joint Secretary Sanket S Bhondve and the officials said that the situation amounts to "X abetting crime" while asking the representative what steps they have taken to stop control the spread of such rumours.

The IT ministry also pulled up the companies for "delays" in providing user details of the fake handles, allowing the perpetrators to go undetected.
