Teenager detained in connection to hoax bomb threats to Indian carriers

A Delhi-bound IndiGo flight from Mumbai was diverted to Ahmedabad on Tuesday night (Oct 15) after receiving a bomb threat, which was later found out to be a hoax, an official said on Wednesday.&nbsp;

This is notably the 12th such incident in the past two days.&nbsp;

The aircraft carrying nearly 200 passengers and crew was safely disembarked, and after a thorough check, no suspicious items were found.

After the flight 6E 651&nbsp;took off from Mumbai, an unidentified person through X (formerly Twitter) claimed that a bomb had been placed in the aircraft, an official from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport said.

The Mumbai ATC then alerted the pilots, following which they decided to make an emergency landing at Ahmedabad airport, which was the closest airport, the official said.&nbsp;

"After landing here during midnight, the aircraft, carrying nearly 200 passengers and crew, was thoroughly checked by the security agencies overnight. However, nothing suspicious was found. The flight took off for Delhi at around 8 am today morning after getting a green signal from the security personnel," the official said.

IndiGo issued a statement saying that the flight was redirected to Ahmedabad due to a "security-related alert".&nbsp;

Bomb threat on Air India flight triggers emergency at Thiruvananthapuram airport

A London-bound Air India flight received a bomb threat on Tuesday (Jun 25), following which an extensive check was conducted on the aircraft. The aircraft was at Cochin International Airport (CIAL) when Air India's call centre in Mumbai received the bomb threat.

The alert was subsequently communicated to the Air India office in Cochin and the Airport at 1.22 am IST.

Following the threat, a Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) was called at the CIAL.

Meanwhile, the aircraft was taken to an isolated space at the airport and security personnel as well as&nbsp;inline baggage screening systems conducted thorough checks.

Following extensive search, the threat was declared a mere hoax as no danger was detected. The plane was allowed to proceed further at 10:30 am, as per the protocol.

According to the Delhi Police, the bomb threat was received on Monday at 9:35 am.

"On June 17 at 9:35 am, an email was received in the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) office, IGI Airport with the threat of a bomb inside a Delhi to Dubai flight," the police said.

They further informed that, after receiving the threat, necessary legal action was taken and nothing suspicious was found.

Last week, several museums in Delhi received bomb threats, which later turned out to be bogus, the police said.

A bomb threat was received on a Vistara flight bound for Srinagar with 177 passengers and one infant aboard on Friday (May 31) after which the airline and security forces took swift action.&nbsp;

Flight no-UK-611 departed from India's capital New Delhi and safely landed at Srinagar Airport at nearly 12:10 am (local time).&nbsp;

The airport authorities at Srinagar International Airport received a bomb threat call targeting Vistara flight UK611 which was arriving from Delhi.

The Air Traffic Control (ATC) Srinagar received information about the ‘threatening call’ which led to a swift and co-ordinated response from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).&nbsp;

The airlines followed the standard protocol&nbsp;decided for such threats and the aircraft was directed immediately to an isolation bay after landing.

Delhi’s North Block put on high alert after police receive bomb threat mail

At least four schools received bomb threats in Rajasthan's Jaipur and several others in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow on Monday (May 13), following which students and staff were evacuated as a safety measure. Schools in both states received the bomb&nbsp;threat via email, as per reports.

In Lucknow's Gomti Nagar, school officials quickly moved all students to the playgrounds and alerted parents to come and pick up their wards. Jaipur schools alerted the police which swiftly deployed its squads at the locations.

Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph reportedly said, "Four-five schools have received bomb threat. Police have reached the schools."&nbsp;

As part of the investigation into the received threat, a team of police officials is trying to identify the sender of the email. Among the four Jaipur schools placed on high alert are St Teresa's School, MPS School, Manak Chowk School, and Vidyashram School.&nbsp;

This comes a day after&nbsp;a bomb threat was received by Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport and the city's&nbsp;multiple hospitals. The initial threat in Jaipur schools was reported at MPS School in Moti Dungri at 6 am. Afterward, more alerts were received by the police from schools in Vidyadhar Nagar, Manak Chowk, Vaishali Nagar, and Niwaru Road in Bagru, as per media reports.&nbsp;

Media reports citing officials said that threats to Delhi schools were sent by a Russia-based mailing service. While&nbsp;bomb threats to hospitals were sent by a Europe-based mailing service company 'beeble.com'. The sender ID was courtgroup03@beeble.com. The officials are trying to spot the IP address of the sender.&nbsp;

At least four schools received bomb threats in Rajasthan's Jaipur and several others in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow on Monday (May 13), following which students and staff were evacuated as a safety measure. Hours after bomb threat emails at the hospitals were reported, a report by news agency ANI citing the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) said that the Indira Gandhi International Airport also received a bomb threat email.&nbsp;

According to reports, at least 12 airports including&nbsp;Raja Bhoj Airport (Bhopal), and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (Ahmedabad) received bomb threats on Sunday.&nbsp;

A bomb threat email was sent to 12 airports across the country including Jaipur International Airport, said an IANS report.

The advisory read, "In view of the current situation wherein bomb threats were received by a few schools of Delhi in early hours of morning of 01.05.2024, it is advised that School Administrators/Managers/Heads of Government/Government Aided and Unaided Recognised Schools under the Directorate of Education, GNCT Delhi should ensure that emails/messages received on official email id of the school at any time of the day (before, during or after school hours) are checked timely."&nbsp;

The advisory further stated that the school authorities should inform parents and concerned law enforcement authorities to initiate appropriate measures regarding the safety and security of the students in the event of any "impending threats or challenges, well in time".&nbsp;

As per an ANI report citing the Noida-based Delhi Public School's principal's office, students were sent back home immediately as a precautionary measure.

Delhi-NCR DCP South West Rohit Meena has revealed that the same bomb threat email was sent to several schools around 4:15 am (IST).

"Checking is underway at all the schools and our technical wing is investigating the email. Through the initial investigation, it seems that this is a mass email...I want to request the students and parents to remain calm and not to panic. We are getting each and every school checked and are in contact with the school administration...," he added.

In a statement to news agency ANI, Delhi Police said "Bomb threat at several schools in Delhi | During the initial investigation, it seems that since yesterday till now the mail has been sent to many places and it seems to be on the same pattern. Date line is not mentioned and BCC is mentioned in the mail, which means one mail has been sent to many places. At present, an investigation is being done."

As per reports, a&nbsp;similar threat was sent to Amity School in Lucknow in the Vrindavan area. The campus was searched, and the children were evacuated, however, nothing was found.

Parents who are interested to personally come and pick their ward&nbsp;may&nbsp;also&nbsp;do&nbsp;so," reads the message.

10:32&nbsp;am:&nbsp;Summer Fields School in Greater Kailash asks parents to collect students "immediately".

"Urgent message: school is called off today and the buses will be returning shortly. Please arrange to be at the bus stops to collect the children shortly. Walker /Van user parents are requested to collect the students from the school&nbsp;immediately," said the school in a message to students, as seen by WION.

12:10 pm: Origin of threatening&nbsp;emails traced.

Speaking to the press,&nbsp;Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena said the police have traced the origin of the hoax bomb emails sent to nearly 100 schools in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).

Saxena who&nbsp;had gone to DAV School in north Delhi's Model Town, said, "The Delhi Police have traced the origin of the emails. I am assuring citizens of Delhi that the police are alert, getting leads, and will take strict action." However, he did not disclose any further information.

12:20 pm:&nbsp;As per an NDTV report citing sources, the&nbsp;email was sent using a virtual private network (VPN) that routed and rerouted data via foreign servers. The police have managed to narrow down the internet protocol (IP) address after retracing the VPN traffic and have found the source of the email&nbsp;it added.

Reports suggest that the emails are&nbsp;suspected to have been&nbsp;sent from Russia and were aimed at creating panic. However, the authorities are yet to reveal the source of the email bomb threats.

However, searches have yielded nothing, and in a statement,&nbsp;Noida Police Commissioner&nbsp;Laxmi Singh said, "In the investigation till now, the case has been found to be fake, parents and school administration are requested to please not pay attention to the rumours."
