A special investigation team was formed after an order by Senior Superintendent of police (SSP) Anand Kumar.&nbsp;The SIT and forensic team identified the accused with the help of CCTV footage and the victim’s identification. Vinay Kumar of Utren village, who was driving the ambulance, and Ajit Kumar of Chandanpur village in Nalanda district were arrested within a few hours of the complaint, SSP Kumar said.&nbsp;“Police will complete the investigation soon and submit a charge sheet to the court with a recommendation for a speedy trial to ensure punishment for the accused,” he added.&nbsp;City SP Ramanand Kumar Kaushal confirmed that both accused were arrested and questioned. “Their answers were not satisfactory. Lawyer shot dead in Patna by gunmen - third murder in 24 hours, fourth in a week in poll-bound Bihar

At least 46 people died in the eastern Indian state of Bihar over the last 24 hours in separate drowning incidents during the celebration of the 'Jivitputrika' festival. The festival was celebrated on Wednesday (Sep 25) and deaths have been reported from at least 15 districts of the state, the government said. During the 'Jivitputrika' festival, women observe fast for the well-being of their children and both take holy dips in rivers and ponds.

A statement issued by the state Disaster Management Department (DMD) said, “A total of 43 bodies have been recovered so far. Further search operation is on."

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar&nbsp;has announced a compensation of ₹ 4 lakh ($4,800) for the next of kin of those who died. The government added that the families of eight victims have already received the compensation.

"The incidents of drowning were reported from East and West Champaran, Nalanda, Aurangabad, Kaimur, Buxar, Siwan, Rohtas, Saran, Patna, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, Gopalganj and Arwal districts,” the statement said.

At least six people were killed after a massive fire broke out in several hotel buildings near Patna railway station in the eastern Indian state of Bihar on Thursday (Apr 25). Authorities said at least 30 people were injured and the causality could go up. Media reports say the fire started from Pal hotel and soon spread to nearby hotels. Several bikes and cars were also gutted in the fire. Some seven-eight fire engines were rushed to the spot, which&nbsp;doused&nbsp;the blaze in more than two hours.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Rajeev Mishra, said at least 20 people were rescued from the buildings, located in a crowded place.

Some eyewitnesses said guests in the hotel jumped from their windows and got themselves injured.

DIG (Fire), Mrityunjay Kumar Chaudhary, who had rushed to the spot, told reporters, "We have brought the blaze, about which information was received around 11 am, under control. The cause will be ascertained through a proper investigation, and appropriate action will follow".

Officials said a cylinder explosion led to the fire, which went out of control as safety measures were not in place.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expressed grief over the loss of lives in the incident.

"It is sad that 6 people died in a fire incident at Hotel Pal near Patna Junction. Instructions have been given for proper treatment of the injured. I wish for their speedy recovery. I pray to God to give strength to the family members of the deceased to bear this sorrow," Kumar posted on social media site X.

Police in India’s Bihar state arrested eight individuals over the weekend for allegedly luring men into a fraudulent scheme involving impregnating women who were not able to conceive with their partners. The eight scammers ran their racket under the name of "All India Pregnant Job Service."&nbsp;

All eight individuals were arrested from Bihar’s Nawada.

According to police, the accused would contact interested male candidates on different social media platforms, including Facebook and WhatsApp, offering them the ‘opportunity’ to earn in lakhs.

The interested men would be first asked to pay a registration fee of INR 799. After registration, the accused would send them pictures of women and ask them to choose a woman of their choice whom they wished to impregnate.

"The men were told that they will be given INR 13 lakh if the woman gets pregnant. They were promised a consolation price of INR 5 lakh even if they failed to impregnate the woman," Kalyan Anand, Superintendent of Police, Nawada, was quoted as saying by NDTV.

Despite the efforts, the main culprit managed to evade capture during the operation.&nbsp;

Kalyan Anand revealed that the arrested individuals are connected to a larger cybercrime syndicate operating nationwide. Nine smartphones and a printer were confiscated during the raids, with the police suggesting the possibility of additional arrests in the ongoing investigation.
