A Russian woman earlier accused of stowing away on a flight from New York to Paris was arrested again while on her way to Canada, authorities confirmed on Monday (Dec 16). Following her Paris flight fiasco, she was held in Philadelphia and was ordered not to leave the area except for court proceedings or meetings with her lawyers. However, she allegedly cut off her GPS-monitoring ankle device and boarded a bus to Canada.

The New York Times reported that the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Buffalo had arrested her again. The woman, named Svetlana Dali, is now scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday (Dec 17).

Last month, Dali grabbed global headlines after managing to enter a Delta fight without a boarding pass. She was spotted at John F Kennedy International Airport on November 26. Later, it was revealed that she entered the aircraft “through a special lane for airline employees masked by a large Air Europa flight crew."

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) said in a statement, “This is the only reported case of unauthorized access when over 18 million passengers were screened at TSA security checkpoints during the busiest Thanksgiving travel season ever. No one has ever fully breached the TSA security screening process."

According to a criminal complaint filed in that case, Delta employees failed to stop the woman as they were busy “helping ticketed passengers board”.

As the plane took off, Delta employees quickly realised Dali was on the plane. The plane crew notified French law enforcement and the woman was arrested at Charles de Gaulle Airport on November 27. She was flown back to New York on December 4 and was taken into custody.

Former Indian cricketer and batting great Virender Sehwag made a bizarre remark&nbsp;on why Indian cricketers don’t play in franchise-based T20 Leagues worldwide outside of IPL. Although it’s mainly because of the clause in players’ central contract with BCCI that restricts them from playing in leagues besides the country’s own Indian Premier League, Sehwag said it’s because Indian cricketers are rich and hence don’t go to other countries to play in their leagues which are not as lucrative.

Speaking on the Club Prairie Fire podcast on YouTube, Sehwag, while replying to Adam Gilchrist’s query on whether Indian cricketers will play in leagues outside of the IPL anytime sooner, said in jest, “No! Why? No need. We are rich people; we don’t go to poor countries.”

Sehwag being Sehwag did not stop there, and continued by quoting an example, saying when he was out of the Indian Team, the Big Bash League (BBL) in Australia offered him a chance to play in their league, but he refused the offer. All-rounder Rashid Khan is reconsidering playing in the Big Bash League (BBL) after Cricket Australia (CA) indefinitely postponed the T20I series with Afghanistan last month. Rashid said he was 'hurt' by CA's decision and that him playing in Australia's premier T20 franchise tournament&nbsp;was undermining his teammates.&nbsp;

Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Rashid, who is a big crowd puller in the BBL playing for Adelaide Strikers, lamented the treatment meted by CA towards his country.&nbsp;

"It does hurt you. You do want to play against the best teams and that's where your cricket is going to improve more and more. You only get the opportunity playing against them [Australia] in the World Cups, but not in bilateral series," said Rashid on the eve of Gujarat Titans' IPL match against Delhi Capitals.&nbsp;

"You don't want to play with my colleagues and you want to play with me. So what's the difference? It means I'm putting my colleagues down as well. My country down as well."

Last year, Rashid had threatened to withdraw from the BBL but changed his mind and entered the draft. However, he missed out on the tournament as he had to undergo back surgery.&nbsp;

In March, CA binned the series due to concerns over the human rights of women and girls in the Islamic country under Taliban rule.&nbsp;

The board stated that the assessment from the Australian government was "that conditions for women and girls in Afghanistan" were getting worse. It also noted that Afghanistan remains the only full member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) without a women's team at the senior level.

Spencer Johnson ran riot in the Big Bash League (BBL) final on Wednesday (Jan 24) as Brisbane Heat beat Sydney Sixers by 54 runs at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). Johnson, having scalped four wickets in the final was named Player of the Match while the Heats clinched their second title in the BBL history. They had previously won the title in 2012-13, which saw them end their 11-year drought to win the BBL title. The defeat also meant that Sydney Sixers failed to win the title for the third time in four seasons.

With Paul Walter bowling Sydney Thunder were 56/3 after 8.5 overs when the superb magical moment in the field occurred. According to a report on Thursday, August 24, Rashid is likely to feature in the upcoming drafts of the BBL where he is likely to be retained by Adelaide Strikers. The player had earlier boycotted the league due to Cricket Australia’s (CA) stand to withdraw from a white-ball series against Afghanistan on human-rights grounds.

<h2>What was the reason for Rashid’s withdrawal?</h2>

"I am really disappointed to hear that Australia have pulled out of the series to play us in March," Afghanistan T20I captain Rashid said in his statement at the time.

"I take great pride in representing my country, and we have made great progress on the world stage.”

The buzz created by the star spinner in January saw him withdraw from the BBL where his side Adelaide Strikers finished seventh in the standings. He has been with the franchise ever since, bursting on the scene as a 19-year-old in BBL season seven. He has since played every season of the BBL with the Southern Australian side and has been a centric figure.

CA decided to withdraw its men's team from a scheduled three-match series in the UAE in March, citing the Taliban's ban on women and girls' education and employment in Afghanistan.

It is expected that he will be retained by the Strikers as a Platinum pick in the drafts that take place on Sunday, September 3. He will be available for the first leg of the BBL before he is expected to travel to South Africa to represent in the SA20. He plays for the MI Cape Town, a franchise owned by the Indian Premier League (IPL) side Mumbai Indians.

Despite the heated situation between Afghanistan players and the CA, a couple of other players Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Izharulhaq Naveed had already committed to play in the BBL season 14. Rashid’s inclusion though has now paved the way for other names to participate in the draft. Mujeeb was drafted by Melbourne Renegades last season from Brisbane Heat while Sydney Sixers acquired Izharulhaq.
