The ICC had allowed us to talk to the players. Taskin (Ahmed) and Mahmudullah talked to us, but the way Litton behaved was unacceptable. He then asked the security what the mediapersons were doing. Just because he is not scoring runs doesn’t mean that he will misbehave with us,” the journalist told Daily Cricket.

"We all want to win the World Cup. Since you asked me our realistic goal, if we can win four or five matches we can get into the semi-finals. This is our first target. We have a good enough team to do this. We have to reach the semi-final stage,” he added.

<h2>Who will open in Tamim’s absence?</h2>

While Bangladesh has two options – young Tanzid Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, to pick from to open alongside Litton Das, Hathurusingha&nbsp;said the final call will be made on the game day.&nbsp;

"We have two options [to take Tamim's spot]. We will be in a better place to make that decision tomorrow morning," the coach said.&nbsp;

After the second ODI, he complained of back issues -- which had forced him to miss the Asia Cup 2023 edition -- and eventually got ruled out. Thus, Tamim lost his spot in the World Cup squad due to injury concerns. However, the opener made a shocking claim of being&nbsp;a victim of dirty politics.

On Wednesday (September 27), Tamim took to Facebook and confirmed that&nbsp;he would have been fit enough to take part in the ODI World Cup. However,&nbsp;he won't be travelling to India solely because he is aware of the roadblocks being created for him by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). I am just going to tell someone that you can do whatever you want. Is the team first or the individual?" “He said, 'do one thing, you don't play the opening game against Afghanistan'. I told him, look there are still 10 to 12 days and in 12-13 days I will be in a good state so why I should not be playing? Then he said, 'If you play, we are planning to send you down the order.'”

"You have to understand I'm coming from which mindset. I played a good innings after a while (against New Zealand), and I was happy about it. But all of a sudden these kinds of words were not something that I could take," Tamim added.

Tamim said he expressed displeasure over this thought process, which made him uncomfortable on many grounds. In the third and final ODI of this dress rehearsal series for the World Cup 2023, Bangladesh elected to bat first after winning the toss. Training 0-1 in the three-match ODIs, having lost the previous clash by 86 runs, Bangladesh lost both openers inside the first three overs.

Returning to the side for the first time since getting ruled out during the Asia Cup 2023 with an injury, Najmul Shanto again proved to be the vital cog in the wheel for the Bangladeshi side. Alongside Towhid Hridoy, the Captain for this game, Shanto, tried building a partnership, but Adam Milne had different plans, breaking the stand by removing Hridoy on 18.

Rahim then joined the party, deploying a cautious approach to start with. Though he didn’t hit a boundary during his 25-ball 18-run stay at the crease, Rahim looked like getting into his groove. But before he could accelerate, a pacey delivery from Ferguson resulted in Rahim’s wicket.

Shanto and returning Mahmudullah tried saving the sinking ship, adding 49 runs for the fifth wicket. That, however, couldn’t help the cause much as the pacers returned to reduce Bangladesh to 168 for seven at one stage, with all recognised batters, including Shanto (who scored 76 off 84 balls), back in the hut.&nbsp;

It was about time before the Milne-led pace attack tore into Bangladesh’s tail and wrapped their innings on a mere 171.&nbsp;

While Milne picked four wickets, Cole McConchie – the off-spinner and Trent Boult returned with two wickets each.&nbsp;

For the Kiwis to win this match and take the series home, they will need to score 172 in the second innings.

Following this final ODI in Dhaka, both teams will fly to India for the marquee tournament, starting October 5, with New Zealand and England playing the opener in Ahmedabad.&nbsp;

Before the group stage gets underway in the Round Robin format, all teams will play two warm-up matches each.&nbsp;

While Bangladesh will take on Sri Lanka on September 29 in their first warm-up match, New Zealand and Pakistan will face off in Hyderabad on the same day.&nbsp;

Bangladesh seamer Tanzim Sakib has taken full responsibility for the now-deleted offensive Facebook posts that went viral after his debut in the Asia Cup 2023. The right-arm seamer has also apologised to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Some posts date back to 2014, while BCB cricket operations chair Jalal Yunus said they would monitor him going forward.

Four of the now-deleted posts resurfaced shortly after Tanzim&nbsp;made his international debut against India on September 15. In the match, he impressed everyone with his new-ball spell, picking up two wickets and helping Bangladesh beat India by six runs.&nbsp;

In one of the four Facebook posts from September 2022, Tanzim, in Bangla, wrote, "A working woman will not allow her husband or children to have their way with her; she loses her charm, destroys her family, her purdah, and the society."

In April this year, Tanzim shared a photo on his Facebook handle, which appeared from 1954, of a burqa-clad woman travelling in a rickshaw, possibly with her family, calling it the "golden past".&nbsp;

In another Facebook post, the date of which remains unknown, the 20-year-old wrote, "If you marry a girl who mingles freely in the university, you can't get your child a demure mother."

After these posts went viral on social media, they stirred quite a backlash in the country with women's rights activists, writers and journalists coming forward and criticising it.&nbsp;

<h2>‘He takes responsibility for this’</h2>

Yunus, the BCB director, claimed he spoke with Tanzim about this matter, and the seamer has taken full responsibility.&nbsp;

"The cricket operations committee spoke to Tanzim Sakib on behalf of the Bangladesh Cricket Board," Yunus said at a press conference at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Tuesday (Sep 19).&nbsp;

Yunus said Tanzim revealed he didn’t put out those posts to hurt anyone’s sentiments, and those words were not aimed at anyone either. He added that if anyone’s feelings got hurt, he will apologise to them.

"The media committee also got in touch with him. We informed Tanzim about the discussions surrounding his Facebook posts. He said that he didn't write those posts to hurt anyone. He wrote it for himself, not targeting anyone. If those posts have hurt anyone's feelings, he said he was sorry,” Yunus added.

The BCB Director added if in future&nbsp;Tanzim makes any such comments or posts anything misogynist anywhere, BCB would monitor him and take action against him if required.

"He said that the posts he has made about women, he takes full responsibility. He said that he is not a misogynist. We have warned him that if he posts something on Facebook in the future, the BCB will monitor him.

"We are keeping an eye on this area [his mindset]. We will monitor him. His family is concerned too. They didn't expect such a situation. They are also sorry. We have given him a warning because he is a young player, and a World Cup is ahead. If he does something like this again, we will take action against him. If there's a [psychological] problem, we will provide support,” he added.

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) added a reserve day for India vs. Pakistan Super Four match in Colombo, to be played on Sunday, September 10, and Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusingha is seemingly unhappy with this selective call. Outside of the final on September 17, the India-Pakistan marquee clash is the only other game to get a reserve day, bypassing the remaining two teams – co-host Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Speaking to the media ahead of his side’s first Super Four match against Sri Lanka in Colombo – a city facing&nbsp;rainfall during this peak monsoon season, Hathurusingha said these selective calls around reserve day are not ideal, and if it has been offered for one game, it must be there for all games.

Since the first game between arch-rivals played in Kandy got washed out, the PCB, in coordination with the ACC, were said to look into alternate venues for Super Four stages to avoid games more suffering the same fate. With the players and the broadcasters reluctant to travel to Hambantota and Dambulla (optional venues), the ACC remained confined to Colombo as the final venue for the remaining matches.

So, if we were consulted before, we would have our comment, but because it's already made, I don't have any concern. And we just get on with what we were asked. Asia Cup: Selective addition of ‘reserve day’ rule surprises Bangladesh head coach ahead of Sri Lanka tie

Bangladesh have been dealt a major blow in the build-up to the Asia Cup 2023 as star batter and key member of the squad Litton Das has been ruled out of the tournament with fever. The news was confirmed on Wednesday, August 30 morning as the Chairman of the National Selection Panel, Minhajul Abedin informed of the situation. Wicketkeeper-batter Anamul Haque Bijoy has been roped in as a replacement for Das and will travel with the squad.

Nazmul said there was no alternate option other than Shakib for the post.&nbsp;

Sent in to bat first,&nbsp;Bangladesh&nbsp;began cautiously in slightly overcast conditions before Liton and skipper Tamim Iqbal grew in confidence to put on 42 runs.

Tamim was run out for 23 with a direct throw from Mark Adair before Liton and Najmul added 101 runs for the second wicket.&nbsp;

Graham Hume, Ireland's most successful bowler with 3-58, removed Shakib Al Hasan (17) and Najmul in successive overs after Curtis Campher took the wicket of Liton.

However, Mushfiqur and Towhid Hridoy then took the bowling by storm to add 128 runs in just 13 overs for the fifth wicket.&nbsp;

Towhid fell for 49 but Mushfiqur continued his terrific batting to bring up his ninth ODI hundred with a single on the last ball of the innings.

He broke Shakib's record of a 63-ball hundred against Zimbabwe in 2009.

Mushfiqur also became the third Bangladeshi to reach 7,000 ODI runs, after teammates Tamim and Shakib.

The matches are useful practice on South Asian pitches for Ireland ahead of the ODI World Cup in India later this year, for which they are yet to qualify.&nbsp;

Opting to bowl first, on a sluggish surface, the Bangladesh bowlers kept it tight versus the English batters.&nbsp;Philip Salt and skipper Jos Buttler stitched an impressive 80-run stand in the first ten overs but Salt fell for 38. The England captain held one end before he departed for a 42-ball 67. The visitors lost the plot from thereon. They were not allowed to score freely with Mahmud returning with 2 for 26 along with&nbsp;Taskin and Nasum Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman as well as skipper Shakib chipping in with a wicket each. As a result, England only managed a moderate 156/6.

In reply, Bangladesh batters got off to&nbsp;starts but it was Shanto's 30-ball 51, laced with 8 fours, which took his side home.&nbsp;Towhid Hridoy, Rony Talukdar and captain Shakib (24-ball 34 not out) also contributed in&nbsp;the home side's easy win (with two overs to spare).&nbsp;The second and penultimate tie will be held&nbsp;at the&nbsp;Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka on March 12.

Dawid Malan scored a hundred under pressure to guide England to a thrilling three-wicket win over Bangladesh in the first one-day international in Dhaka on Wednesday.

Malan hit an unbeaten 114 off 145 balls as England reached their target with eight balls to spare after the hosts had them reeling with Jos Buttler, Jason Roy and James Vince all out cheaply.

Earlier England bowled out Bangladesh for 209 with Moeen Ali, Mark Wood, Jofra Archer and Adil Rashid each claiming two wickets and Najmul Hossain scoring 58, his maiden ODI half-century.

The hosts made a decent start after electing to bat first, with skipper Tamim Iqbal making 23. But after Chris Woakes earned the first breakthrough with the wicket of Liton Das, England struck whenever a partnership was developing.

Tamim was bowled by Wood before spinners were called into action, as England got valuable South Asian practice ahead of their defence of the ODI World Cup crown in India later this year.

Moeen bowled Shakib Al Hasan for eight before Rashid picked up the wicket of Mushfiqur Rahim.

Najmul and Mahmudullah Riyad (31) forged a 53-run partnership for the fifth wicket before they fell in successive overs.

Debutant Will Jacks claimed the wicket of Afif Hossain three overs later to kill off Bangladesh's remaining chance of putting up a big total.&nbsp;

England made a poor start with the bat, with Taijul Islam picking up 3-54 and complemented brilliantly by other bowlers as Bangladesh made a match out of low scores.

With help from Shakib, Mehidy Miraz and Taskin Ahmed, the visitors were reduced to 103-5 halfway through the innings with Roy, Buttler and Vince all out for single-digit scores.

Jacks made a valiant 26 and then Moeen provided Malan with some support in a vital 38-run sixth wicket stand before Mehidy dismissed him for 14.

However Malan, who&nbsp;along with Moeen participated in the recent Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 tournament, hung on to keep England in the hunt.

Tamim took a fine diving catch at mid-on to dismiss Woakes off Taijul for seven to give the game some tension with England still needing 49.

But Malan, who came to the crease in the second over after Shakib dismissed Roy for four, guided tail-ender Rashid (17 not out) to complete the win.

Player of the match Malan earlier brought his fourth hundred in ODIs with a boundary off Taskin. He struck eight fours and four sixes overall.

"(I) spent a fair bit of time in Bangladesh, especially at this ground. Told Jos it would have been tough to chase if they'd have got 30-40 more," Malan said afterwards.

"Satisfying to get over the line, handling pressure is part of the job."

"These are tough conditions. Malan's innings is an example for us on how to play on these wickets," Buttler said.

"There's plenty of areas to work and improve. It's about small partnerships on wickets like these."

Tamim said his side "should have scored at least 30-35 more".

"Have to give it to Malan," he conceded. "We tried everything in our bowling option."

He reached the milestone of hitting a double ton in just 126 deliveries, breaking the record (138 balls) set previously by Chris Gayle against Zimbabwe.&nbsp;

The double century came against Bangladesh during the third ODI here in Chattogram.&nbsp; Kishan joins the small yet illustrious list of Indians to have smashed a double century. Previously,&nbsp;Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and&nbsp;Rohit Sharma have reached the milestone.

While Tendulkar and Sehwag have scored a double century in ODI once, current Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has achieved the feat thrice, including the highest ever score of 264.&nbsp;

Martin Guptill, Fakhar Zaman and&nbsp;Chris Gayle are the other players to have reached the incredibly rare landmark.&nbsp;

However, KL Rahul, who was entrusted with keeping duties to fit him and another veteran Shikhar Dhawan in the same XI, dropped an aerial sitter when Bangladesh still needed 32 runs.

Washington Sundar also didn't go for an easy catch at the third man earning the wrath of skipper Rohit Sharma as Miraj (38 not out off 39 balls) along with Mustafizur (10 not out) got the team past the finishing line in exactly 46 overs.

The 51-run stand between Miraj and Mustafizur was Bangladesh's highest 10th wicket partnership and the fourth-highest 10th wicket partnership in a successful ODI chase.
