<p>Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap’s directorial venture ‘Ghost Stories’ has landed in troubled waters after a complaint against the four-piece anthology—which released last year on video-streaming giant Netflix—was filed.</p>

According to reports, this complaint happens to be the first to come under the Information Technology (Guidelines for Intermediaries and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021 that was framed in February this year by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.</p>

As per the new rules, streaming platforms are mandated to have a redressal mechanism to address viewers’ grievances and based on that, a complaint has been filed and received by Netflix India against an allegedly objectionable scene in Anurag Kashyap’s short film, ‘Story 2’, reports claim.</p>

The complaint states that in the scene where actor Sobhita Dhulipala can be seen devouring the fetus from her miscarriage is not required for the narrative and if the makers wish to retain it, then there should be a trigger warning for women who have gone through the trauma of miscarriage.</p>

Indian filmmaker made his first appearance after he <a href="http://13.235.153.162/entertainment/bollywood/news-anurag-kashyap-undergoes-angioplasty-after-chest-pain-condition-remains-stable-387771">underwent an angioplasty</a>, after complaining of mild chest pain. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Kashyap's daughter Aaliyah shared a funny video of the filmmaker on her Instagram story. In the video, 'AK vs AK' actor is seen sporting a bald&nbsp;look with a unibrow and smiling while he looks at the camera and heard saying in the video, “I am so blind.”&nbsp;<br />

His daughter returned to India after 10 months from the United States and shares a very close bond with her parents.&nbsp;</p>

In a career spanning over four decades, Kapoor has experimented with genres, roles and even a different industry. <strong>Vikramaditya Motwane's 'AK vs AK' is perhaps Kapoor</strong>'s boldest experiment on the screen so far.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A meta-war featuring Anurag Kashyap and Kapoor playing themselves, the film is innovative in its approach and something that Indian audience is not used to watching on screen. Reality and fiction often get interlinked and for an Indian audience which is easily hurt by slightest of the issues, <strong>'AK vs AK'</strong> is a tricky film to execute convincingly. Does the team succeed? To a great extent.&nbsp;</p>

<p>There has already been a bit of controversy involving Kapoor's costume and IAF and the film starts with a disclaimer about fiction and reality and how the makers hold the Indian Airforce in the highest of the regards. Soon after the messaging is done, the film dives straight into MAMI 2019 where Anil Kapoor and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap are co-panelists for a masterclass.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The session soon becomes ugly with Kashyap throwing a glass of water on Kapoor's face in a fit of rage. The scores are not settled though as Kashyap devises a dangerous plot to get back at Kapoor. The filmmaker kidnaps Kapoor's actress daughter Sonam and then asks the veteran star to look for her in Mumbai without any help and before sunrise. Kapoor goes on a while goose chase with Kashyap following him with a camera person to make a film out of the entire episode.&nbsp;</p>

There are cameos by<strong> Kapoor's family members </strong>like Boney Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor and son Harshvardhan. Locations are streets of Mumbai and both the stars home. All these elements blur the lines between real and fiction to a great extent.&nbsp;</p>

<p>While the film begins on an exhilarating high, the film runs its course soon after. The narrative is immersive and innovative but slightly incoherent. What stands out is Kashyap and Kapoor trying to outdo each other in every possible way- some look natural while a few scenes look hammy.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
As Kapoor goes on streets, looking for his missing daughter, he transforms into one of the daredevil characters he has played in innumerable films in the past. Nothing can stop him from finding his daughter. He gets hit by a car, gets embroiled in a scuffle with Kashyap, runs for miles- but seems tireless as he keeps the search on. He is bleeding and panting but still not willing to give up.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The film begins on an exhilarating high. The two actors are shown to be at loggerheads with Kashyap playing a mad, deranged and vindictive version of himself to Kapoor's helpless, anguished version. But soon enough the chase becomes repetitive. There is a portion where Kapoor, in a bid to look for a taxi driver, ends up at a local Christmas fair. Battered, bruised and bleeding he goes up on stage to seek help in looking for the driver who is believed to be a local of that area. As he takes on the mic and pleads for help, the crowd insist on him first performing to some of his hits. While the idea is to show how the general population is insensitive and blind to other's problems, the scene still seems out of place, unrealistic and forced into the narrative.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Inconsistent and incoherent - the last half hour of the film is a stretch and one can see that the maker and the writer have lost the grip from the storyline. I wish they had edited a major chunk off from the climax. It's messy and chaotic and both Kashyap and Kapoor overdo their bit.&nbsp;<br />
'AK vs AK' ultimately suffers due to some glaring flaws. What begins as an enjoyable film about two well known Bollywood faces being pitted against each other, ultimately becomes stretched and chaotic by the end. Sure there are a few genuinely funny moments in the film courtesy Kashyap and his maverick ways. It's also interesting to watch Kapoor's family members playing small bits but 'AK vs AK' &nbsp;is audacious, experimental which can tire you out, unlike its two AKs.&nbsp;</p>

Soon after the messaging is done, the film dives straight into MAMI 2019 where Anil Kapoor and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap are co-panelists for a masterclass. The session soon becomes ugly with Kashyap throwing a glass of water on Kapoor's face in a fit of rage. The scores are not settled though as Kashyap devises a dangerous plot to get back at Kapoor. The filmmaker kidnaps Kapoor's actress daughter Sonam and then asks the veteran star to look for her in Mumbai without any help and before sunrise. Kapoor goes on a while goose chase with Kashyap following him with a camera person to make a film out of the entire episode. Motwane and writer Avinash Sampath borrow heavily from the real life of both the AKs and shoot in actual locations. There are cameos by Kapoor's family members like Boney Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor and son Harshvardhan. Locations are streets of Mumbai and both the stars home. All these elements blur the lines between real and fiction to a great extent. While the film begins on an exhilarating high, the film runs its course soon after. The narrative is immersive and innovative but slightly incoherent. What stands out is Kashyap and Kapoor trying to outdo each other in every possible way- some look natural while a few scenes look hammy. As Kapoor goes on streets, looking for his missing daughter, he transforms into one of the daredevil characters he has played in innumerable films in the past. Nothing can stop him from finding his daughter. He gets hit by a car, gets embroiled in a scuffle with Kashyap, runs for miles- but seems tireless as he keeps the search on. He is bleeding and panting but still not willing to give up. The film begins on an exhilarating high. The two actors are shown to be at loggerheads with Kashyap playing a mad, deranged and vindictive version of himself to Kapoor's helpless, anguished version. But soon enough the chase becomes repetitive. There is a portion where Kapoor, in a bid to look for a taxi driver, ends up at a local Christmas fair. Battered, bruised and bleeding he goes up on stage to seek help in looking for the driver who is believed to be a local of that area. As he takes on the mic and pleads for help, the crowd insist on him first performing to some of his hits. While the idea is to show how the general population is insensitive and blind to other's problems, the scene still seems out of place, unrealistic and forced into the narrative. Inconsistent and incoherent - the last half hour of the film is a stretch and one can see that the maker and the writer have lost the grip from the storyline. I wish they had edited a major chunk off from the climax. It's messy and chaotic and both Kashyap and Kapoor overdo their bit. 'AK vs AK' ultimately suffers due to some glaring flaws. What begins as an enjoyable film about two well known Bollywood faces being pitted against each other, ultimately becomes stretched and chaotic by the end. Sure there are a few genuinely funny moments in the film courtesy Kashyap and his maverick ways. It's also interesting to watch Kapoor's family members playing small bits but 'AK vs AK' is audacious, experimental which can tire you out, unlike its two AKs. The film is streaming on Netflix.

<p>Actress Payal Ghosh has tendered an unconditional apology to Bollywood actress Richa Chadha and withdrawn statement she had made against Chadha a few weeks back. The two actresses on Wednesday told the Bombay High Court that they have amicably settled their dispute.<br />

Chadha had last week filed a defamation suit against Ghosh for making a "false, baseless, indecent and derogatory statement "against her. Chadha in her suit had also sought monetary compensation as damages.<br />
<br />
Ghosh, while making allegations of rape against filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, had also dragged Chadha and two other female actors into the controversy.<br />
<br />
On Wednesday, advocate Nitin Satpute, appearing for Ghosh, told Justice AK Menon that both the parties (Chadha and Ghosh) have settled the matter amicably and submitted a statement of undertaking.<br />
<br />
In the undertaking, Ghosh said she was withdrawing the statement she made against Chadha.<br />
<br />
"Defendant 1 (Ghosh) undertakes to delete her statement and defamatory posts against the plaintiff (Chadha) on Twitter and other social media and further also undertakes not to state, make, publish any defamatory, insulting and humiliating statement (s) against the plaintiff at any time," the statement said.<br />
<br />
"The parties have agreed they would not file any cases against each other with regard to this matter and there would not be any demand for monetary compensation," Satpute told the court.<br />
<br />
Chadha's advocates Veerendra Tulzapurkar and Saveena Bedi Sachar also said the matter has been worked out.<br />
Justice Menon accepted the same and disposed of the suit against Ghosh.<br />

Chadha in her suit had also arraigned a Telugu news channel and actor Kamaal R Khan as defendants for uploading Ghosh's video and making further statements against Chadha.<br />

On Wednesday, Khan's advocate Manoj Gadkari told the court that the actor will not make any further statements but he intends to contest the present suit.<br />

The bench then directed him to file an affidavit and posted the suit for further hearing after six weeks.<br />

On September 23 Ghosh had lodged a complaint at suburban Versova police station accusing Kashyap of raping her in 2013.<br />

<p>Bollywood stars Priyanka Chopra and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap have been invited as the ambassadors for this year's Toronto International Film festival. The two are part of 50 other celebrities who have been invited for a toned-down version of TIFF 2020.<br />

The festival, slated to run from September 10 to September 19, will be opting for digital screenings and virtual red carpets for the first time due to the coronavirus pandemic, making it "tailored to fit the moment".<br />
<br />
Chopra and Kashyap will join Oscar winners and celebrated international names including filmmakers Martin Scorsese, Alfonso Cuaron, Taika Waititi, Ava DuVernay, Rian Johnson, Denis Villeneuve, and actors Nicole Kidman, Nadine Labaki, Riz Ahmed, Isabelle Huppert, Zhang Ziyi to help TIFF deliver a strong gala this year, the organisers said in a press statement.<br />
<br />
In its 45th edition, the festival plans to screen 50 films during its first five days in physical theatres keeping in mind the social distancing norms.<br />
<br />
Physical screenings will need approval from the health authorities of the city as it is dependent on the province's reopening framework to ensure that festival venues and workplaces practice, meet, and exceed public health guidelines.<br />
Festival-goers can also opt for drive-ins to experience cinema.<br />
<br />
For the first time in its history, TIFF will launch a digital platform for the festival, hoping to connect with audiences beyond Toronto by hosting digital screenings, as well as numerous talks and special events.<br />

"We could never have anticipated the global seismic changes we would be facing in 2020. We tapped into the original spirit of the Festival from when it began in 1976 as our guiding light. The distilled edition of TIFF 2020 reflects a deep love of film, passion for our loyal audiences, commitment to the industry, and a whole lot of heart," said Joana Vicente, executive director and co-head, TIFF.<br />

'Ammonite', directed by Francis Lee (UK); 'Another Round', from director Thomas Vinterberg (Denmark); 'Bruised', the debut film from director Halle Berry (US); 'Concrete Cowboys' by filmmaker Ricky Staub (US); 'Fauna', from director Nicolas Pereda (Mexico/Canada); 'Good Joe Bell' by director Reinaldo Marcus Green (US); 'Spring Blossom', the debut film by director Suzanne Lindon (France); and 'True Mothers' by director Naomi Kawase (Japan) are among the festival line-up.<br />

The festival's annual TIFF Tribute Awards event, which acknowledges and celebrates outstanding contributors in the film industry, is going virtual this year as well.<br />
<br />
Screenings for the press and industry will also move online.</p>

He mentioned his film with Ranbir Kapoor, ‘Besharam’ that Salman used his clout to get delayed. It was the last film that Abhinav directed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He said, "I know who my enemies are. Let it be known that they are Salim Khan, Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan," also alleging that he received threats by text which he attributes to the brothers.</p>

'Shocked and speechless': Bollywood mourns Sushant Singh Rajput's death

<p>Bringing a different story in ‘Choked: Paisa Bolta Hai’, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap reveals how much he has changed since his last project. As the film releases today on June 5, Anurag Kashyap said that demonetisation plays an integral part in the film, in fact that is what makes the story flow in a seamless manner.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Speaking to IANS, Anurag Kashyap said, "Working on the film was a good process. It was a long wait. It started in 2015 with a script. At that time, there was no demonetisation. When demonetisation came, it had to be included in the script and we had to rewrite the script. Nihit Bhave kept on. Saiyami Kher came on board in 2017 and Roshan Mathew came on board 2018. <p>"The film was always about money and marriage but demonetisation had to become a part of it because when we were shooting the film, it happened. And it was interesting to place the film in that period so that it doesn`t remain totally absurd and has much more meaning to it. The film suddenly came together because of demonetisation. It was always a great idea and a good script, but I felt that there was this X-Factor missing, so when demonetisation came in, it started to make sense,” he added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>‘Choked: Paisa Bolta Hai’ is the story of a middle-income household in which the housewife starts finding cash flowing out of her kitchen sink with which she starts to fulfill all her dreams.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It’s a suspense drama that the filmmaker wanted to make look different. He said, "I wanted to stick to the script of Nihit and I wanted to do right to the author. He was an incredible collaborator. There were times when I was tempted to take the script in a certain direction. When I would try to do that, I would have someone from the team to correct me. Rahul, my second unit director, was my biggest conscious keeper. They would all say `it is becoming an Anurag Kashyap film`."</p>

Speaking to IANS, Anurag Kashyap said, "Working on the film was a good process. It was a long wait. It started in 2015 with a script. At that time, there was no demonetisation. When demonetisation came, it had to be included in the script and we had to rewrite the script. Nihit Bhave kept on. Saiyami Kher came on board in 2017 and Roshan Mathew came on board 2018. We shot the film in 2019.” Watch trailer here. "The film was always about money and marriage but demonetisation had to become a part of it because when we were shooting the film, it happened. And it was interesting to place the film in that period so that it doesn`t remain totally absurd and has much more meaning to it. The film suddenly came together because of demonetisation. It was always a great idea and a good script, but I felt that there was this X-Factor missing, so when demonetisation came in, it started to make sense,” he added. ‘Choked: Paisa Bolta Hai’ is the story of a middle-income household in which the housewife starts finding cash flowing out of her kitchen sink with which she starts to fulfill all her dreams. It’s a suspense drama that the filmmaker wanted to make look different. He said, "I wanted to stick to the script of Nihit and I wanted to do right to the author. He was an incredible collaborator. There were times when I was tempted to take the script in a certain direction. When I would try to do that, I would have someone from the team to correct me. Rahul, my second unit director, was my biggest conscious keeper. They would all say `it is becoming an Anurag Kashyap film`." Starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead role with a supporting cast comprising of Ila Arun, Raghuvir Yadav, Swanand Kirkire and Anurag Kashyap- the film does boast of a great cast, but the comedy falls flat in more occasions than one, making it a very average film with just a very truly endearing moments.<br />

Siddiqui plays Ghoomketu, a village simpleton, who aspires to be a writer of Hindi films. Aided by his aunt (Ila Arun) he decides one day to go to Mumbai to try his luck in films-leaving behind his family and the new plus-sized bride (whom he loathes). His father (Yadav) and uncle (Kirkire) use their political connections to get the Mumbai police after him. The case lands in Inspector Badlani's lap (Anurag Kashyap) - a corrupt cop who has been given the ultimatum to find Ghoomketu in chaotic Mumbai within a month or take his suspension letter by the end of it.</p>

One can see that the makers have hurriedly put together the film for its digital release, with several scenes being disconnected from each other.<br />

With a non-linear narrative and Nawaz often breaking the fourth wall, the director perhaps attempted to have the complete attention of the viewer. But with an incoherent script, and jokes that fall flat- a lot of the scenes fail to rise above mediocrity and at its 1 hour 40 minutes, run time too seems a bit stretched<br />

The film though has a few sweet moments thanks to the actors, not so much for the writing. Arun, Yadav are fine performers and in their respective roles as quarreling siblings, deliver super performances. I kept waiting to see the two on-screen as their scenes were definitely the high point of the film. Another scene has the two actors along with Kirkire breaking into a folk song (they are all accomplished singers) which is a sheer delight to watch. So naturally performed and very endearing.</p>

<p>'Ghoomketu' was well-intended on paper. It tries to parody the film industry and its stereotypical ways but over the course of the film, it falls prey to the same stereotypes. There are some well-known actors like Ranveer Singh, Amitabh Bachchan, Sonakshi Sinha making cameo appearances - yet the film never really rises above its abysmal story.&nbsp;</p>

<p>If you must watch it-- do so for Ila Arun and Raghubir Yadav. Wish the writers made a parallel film on their characters instead.</p>

Ghoomketu has a phenomenal storyline which will definitely entertain the audience.”</p>

Their vehicle was stopped at Palghar district when a mob attacked them, dragged them out of the car and beat them to death on suspicion that they were thieves.</p>

Set in Assam`s Guwahati city, the film revolves around a sweet love story of a married woman and a younger man with an added dark twist to it that makes the film riveting. A brilliantly presented film has not only captured everyone`s attention but has set a high standard for Indian filmmakers in the world of cinema. The film stars debutantes Lima Das, Arghadeep Baruah as the lead actors in which Lima (as Nirmali) is playing a role of a married paediatrician, who meets a young man Sumon played by Arghadeep Baruah - a PhD research scholar whose detail study and research on food habits of northeast and interest in various meats. Sumon`s study fascinates Nirmali who gets curious about some of the dishes Sumon speaks of and that unfolds into an absorbing love story. `Aamis` is a strong reflection of the saying `love can take you anywhere`, where their unending love for exotic meat from the northeast leads to a horrific ending. An unusual and bold film, `Aamis` is an expression to the limitless craving for food that escalates to a dark desire. Speaking to ANI, director Bhaskar Hazarika, said, "Aamis is a love story and it is also an experimental audience manipulation because as a filmmaker, we try to manipulate the audience that`s how we make films. We start this film as a love story and suddenly without warning we push it towards a horrific ending," Bhaskar added. "It`s interesting to see how people react as they go through an entire journey of emotions from feeling happy to feeling disgusted. I think that is why the film is accepted all over the country and its playing with subtitles."Director Anurag Kashyap, himself said nothing like this has come out of India." "I remember from my very childhood, I have this feeling of doing one good film but somehow it never happened. When I first read the script, I realized that yes this is a kind of character and role I was looking forward to doing at some point in time in my life. I was indeed very happy but the experience started when I started reading the script", actor Lima Das told to ANI. Filmmaker Bejoy Nambiar, who watched the film in Mumbai said, "I think it is really wildly original idea, I have been hearing a lot about the film and I am glad, I finally got to watch it. Quite something, took me completely by surprise, I was not expecting it to go this way".
