<p>He mentioned, "You said, for the last 25 years, there have been only two players who have been consistently playing (at one down) and it's a tough role. I mean, both those batsmen, Rahul and Cheteshwar, contributed immensely during that period, and you know you have to balance it out. You could probably be batting the second ball of the test match, or you could be batting much later when the conditions are easier."</p>

<p>"But more often than not, you get in there to control that first session and see off the new ball because we know that the Kookaburra Ball after the 1st 25 hours, the best time to bat is between the 30th over and the 60th over. And that's what these two batters did throughout their careers, ensuring that the team was safe and the four number four, number five and number six batters, came in much later into the lineup so that they could comfortably bat and score the runs.</p>

<p>"So Shubman will have to play that role very specifically in Australia. He may have to change a little bit based on the conditions. He has the ability (to do that) as well," Kumble added.</p>

<p>Kumble added, "His T20 form in the IPL hasn't been special in the last couple of years but he's a quality player. <p>On Monday (Oct 23), former Indian spinner Bishan Singh Bedi passed away at the age of 77. The legendary spinner represented India in 67 Tests, ending with 266 wickets. In addition, he played 10 ODIs where he took seven wickets. Bedi ended his career, spanning from 1967 to 1979, ended with 14 five-wicket hauls and a solitary ten-fer in Tests. He is regarded as one of the finest spinners and his passing away has left a huge void in Indian cricket. After the shocking news broke out, many cricketers reacted to his&nbsp;demise&nbsp;and paid their heartfelt tribute.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Kumble -- one of India's finest spinners -- wrote, "Deeply saddened to hear the loss of Bishan Paaji. He was someone who always had my back and who genuinely shared his thoughts on the game. <p>Bedi was an orthodox left-arm spinner whose bowling action made heads turn and was described as&nbsp;the most textbook one out there. Apart from outfoxing batters with his spin, the former cricketer also led India. He succeeded the great&nbsp;Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi in 1976 with his first Test victory coming against the mighty West Indies.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Talking about the issue on JioCinema - official digital broadcaster of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 - the former India head coach said, "A lot of emotion goes in but you don’t want to be displaying those emotions here. This is important, you need to have a conversation. But this is something that’s unacceptable.”</p>

<p>Kumble wasn't pleased with what transpired between the duo and said that one must respect the opposition and the game after it is over.</p>

<p>Shastri, speaking to Star Sports, said, "Whoever does it, the sooner the better, because you don't want this to spill off. Carrying on, the next time they meet again there are words exchanged and one thing leads to another. The sooner the better. If I have to do it (mediate between the two stars), so be it."</p>

<p>The IPL fined both the involved parties 100% of their &nbsp;match fees as they were found in the breach of article 2.21 of the tournament's code of conduct, which covers all type of conduct that brings the game into disrepute, including unruly public behaviour. <p>Kumble while speaking on Jio Cinema said, "There are plenty of them; it’s difficult to pick just one. I can certainly look back and say probably a Chris Gayle, someone who is larger than life. The way he came across as a player! What he brought to RCB and the way he sorts of changed the whole powerplay and the power he brought to batting."</p>

<p>Gayle started his IPL career with the two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) but his fortunates changed when he was picked by the RCB camp in 2011. He went on to win the Orange Cap -- awarded to a player with most runs in a season -- in the 2011 and 2012 editions and became a regular in their line-up. In 2018, the swashbuckling batter joined the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), now known as the Punjab Kings (PBKS). During his run for the Punjab franchise, Kumble served as the head coach.</p>

He gave me the [contact] number of the doctor and I visited him in Harley Street (in London),” Mushtaq told Sportstar.</p>

<p>“The doctor checked my eyes and gave me lenses. I had cataract, the vision power was cylindrical and also the eyes were weak. I had consulted many doctors in Pakistan and none could treat it. So, it was Anil bhai who helped me get in touch with the doctor. It was because of him that I could recover. He is a gem of a person," he added.</p>

<p>Virender Sehwag had a stellar run for Team India across formats. While his playing style was more suited to the limited-overs, the former Indian opener proved his critics wrong with some stunning performances in the red-ball format. As a result, he ended with&nbsp;8,586 runs in whites, including two triple tons. In fact, he scored more in Tests after 8,273 runs in his ODI career and, hence, defied the odds.</p>

<p>Despite his fruitful run in whites, Sehwag was dropped from the Test line-up for a year after playing his 52nd match in the format.
