The 23-year-old Italian, however, will be eligible to play the next Grand Slam &ndash; the French Open (starting May 19).
Per the latest reports, WADA, on Saturday (Feb 15), released a statement accepting Sinner&rsquo;s explanation that he accidentally came in contact with the banned substance by his physiotherapist. The Tennis body also accepts that Sinner &lsquo;did not intend to cheat&rsquo; and that the drug &lsquo;did not provide any performance-enhancing benefit'; all of this happened &lsquo;without his knowledge as the result of the negligence of members of his entourage.&rsquo;

The statement read, "However, under the code and by virtue of CAS precedent, an athlete bears responsibility for the entourage's negligence. Based on the unique set of facts of this case, a three-month suspension is deemed to be an appropriate outcome."
Responding to it, Sinner&rsquo;s lawyers said, as quoted by the BBC, "This case had been hanging over me for nearly a year, and the process still had a long time to run with a decision maybe only at the end of the year.
"I have always accepted that I am responsible for my team and realise Wada's strict rules are an important protection for the sport I love. On that basis, I have accepted Wada's offer to resolve these proceedings on the basis of a three-month sanction," Sinner said.

Sinner was cleared of any wrongdoings earlier by an independent panel after testing positive for a banned substance (used in March 2024). The report states that Sinner was accidentally contaminated by his physiotherapist, who treated a cut on his hand with a spray, which was later found to contain the banned substance.
Besides, the International Tennis Integrity Agency said in August that they found &lsquo;no fault or negligence&rsquo; in Sinner&rsquo;s case for testing positive for low levels of a metabolite of clostebol (a steroid) that can be used in building muscle mass.&nbsp;That, however, led to <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/tennis/news-wada-appeals-court-of-arbitration-for-sport-in-jannik-sinner-doping-case-seeks-ban-of-up-to-two-years-762790" rel="dofollow">WADA appealing with CAS</a> (last September), stating that when that independent panel found Sinner of &lsquo;no fault or negligence&rsquo;, it was incorrect under the applicable rules, seeking a ban of between one and two years, with a hearing scheduled on April (16-17).&nbsp;
Following this, Sinner accepted the ban, and the next tournament he can play is the Italian Open, starting May 7.

Tennis: Jannik Sinner accepts three-month suspension over doping charges

A half-century by Ellyse Perry and audacious ball-striking in death overs by half-centurion Richa Ghosh and Kanika Ahuja helped defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) kickstart their Women's Premier League (WPL) campaign with a massive six-wicket win in Vadodara on Friday.
Reduced to 14/2, the RCB's 'Play Bold' philosophy drove the run-chase despite all odds, as a recovery partnership by Perry and Raghvi Bisht paved way for what seemed like endless punishment for GG bowlers towards the end.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won the toss and elected to field first. After being put to bat first, GG opening pair of Beth Mooney and Laura Wolvaardt took their time in picking up speed, with Mooney hitting some boundaries. However, Laura was cleaned up by Renuka Thakur for 6 (10 balls, with one fours) by Renuka Singh.
GG ended the first six overs of the innings, the powerplay phase at 39/1, with Mooney (24*) joined by Dayalan Hemalatha (2*). Kanika Ahuja gave another wicket to RCB, removing Hemalatha for four off nine balls, with a fine catch from Prerna Rawat.
GG were 68/2 at the end of 10 overs, with Mooney (50*) joined by skipper Ashleigh Gardner (2*). Mooney's fifty came in 37 balls, with seven fours, continuing her consistent T20 run, marking her fifth fifty in last eight innings. The 44-run stand was once again broken, this time by Prerna.
Mooney was the one to go after being caught by RCB skipper Smriti Mandhana for 56 in 42 balls, with eight fours.
After the arrival of Deandra Dottin at the crease, run-rate went up as Dottin smashed Kim Garth for two fours while Gardner launched Prerna's deliveries into skies for three successive sixes. GG brought up their 100-run mark in 13.2 overs.
Gardner continued to attack, picking three fours against her Aussie teammate Georgia Wareham and a four and six against Joshitha VJ to bring up her fifty in 25 balls in her first outing as captain. In the 17th over, Renuka brought down the run rate a bit, removing Dottin for a 13-ball 25 (three fours and a six).
With this, a 67-run fourth wicket stand was over. GG was 152/4 in 16.5 overs. In the next over, Gardner picked up three sixes against Joshitha. It was followed by another run-fest of an over, which produced 20 runs and a wicket of Simran Sheikh (11 in five balls).
After Garth conceeded two fours on the final two balls of the innings, GG ended with 201/5, with Harleen Deol (9*) and Gardner (79* in 37 balls, with three fours and eight sixes). Renuka was the pick of the bowlers, conceding just 25 runs and getting two wickets. Kanika, Wareham and Prerna got one wicket each.
During the run-chase of 202, RCB openers Mandhana and Danni Wyatt-Hodge started with three fours in the first over, but Gardner pushed them back by removing both the openers in the next over. RCB was 14/2 in two overs. Following these two breakthroughs, Raghvi Bist was joined by Australia legend Ellyse Perry.
Bisht and Perry showed fine attacking intent, with a six by Perry bringing up RCB's 50 runs in 5.5 overs. At the end of six overs, RCB was at 51/2, with Perry (17*) and Bisht (16*) unbeaten. As the innings went on, Perry continued to pile on boundaries and GG bowlers added to the run tally with some extras. At the end of 10 overs, RCB was 89/2, with Perry (42*) and Bisht (24*) unbeaten.
In the 11th over, Perry slammed two successive sixes against Dottin to bring up her fifth WPL fifty in 27 balls, with five fours and two sixes. 100-runs were up for RCB in 10.5 overs and chances of a win looked promising.
Then, Dottin removed Bisht (25 in 27 balls, with three fours) and Perry, with latter being caught at long-on ,, for 57 in 34 balls, with six fours and two sixes. RCB slipped to 109/4 in 12.2 overs. Richa Ghosh and Kanika carried on with the chase audaciously.
In the 16th over, Ghosh launched an assault on Gardner, smashing her for four boundaries and a six, bringing down the equation to 40 in final four overs. Thanks to three more fours in the next over, the equation went down to 24 runs in final three overs.
The punishment continued for GG as Priya Mishra was taken down for 18 runs in the 18th over, with Ghosh reaching her fifty in 23 balls, with seven fours and two sixes, smashing Priya for a six and two fours. In the 19th over, Richa delivered the winning hit, completing the innings at 202/4 in 18.3 overs, with Ghosh (64* in 27 balls, with seven fours and three sixes) and Kanika (30* in 13 balls, with four boundaries) unbeaten in a stand of 93 in just 37 balls.

WPL 2025: RCB make winning start as defending champions beat Gujarat Giants

Pace bowler Will O'Rourke claimed four wickets while Daryl Mitchell and Tom Latham hit half centuries as New Zealand defeated Pakistan by five wickets to clinch the tri-nations series final on Friday.
O'Rourke's 4-43 helped the tourists dismiss Pakistan for 242 in 49.3 overs before Mitchell's 58-ball 57 anchored the chase as the Black Caps finished on 243-5 in 45.2 overs at Karachi's National stadium.
The victory gives the New Zealanders a timely boost ahead of the Champions Trophy opener against the same opponents at this venue on Wednesday.
New Zealand lost opener Will Young in pacer Naseem Shah's first over for five before Devon Conway (48) and Kane Williamson (34) steadied the chase with a second wicket stand of 71.
Williamson lost his wicket while charging down the wicket against spinner Salman Agha while Naseem returned for his second spell to dismiss Conway.
At 108-3 the tourists' chase wobbled but Mitchell found an able ally in Latham (56) as the two added 87 for the fourth wicket.
When Mitchell fell caught and bowled off spinner Abrar Ahmed the tourists needed just 48 runs which Latham and Glenn Phillips (20 not out) reduced to ten.
Mitchell hit six boundaries in his knock while Latham's 64-ball innings featured five fours.
Naseem was the pick of an otherwise ineffective Pakistan bowling attack with 2-43 off eight overs.&nbsp;
"It is nice to win tonight," said New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner.&nbsp;
"Different guys stepping up at different times is good but it means nothing till we play that first game at the Champions Trophy."
Losing captain Mohammad Rizwan gave credit to New Zealand's bowlers.

<h2>Lost our way</h2>
"We were looking at a target of 280 plus but their bowlers put a squeeze on us," said Rizwan.&nbsp;
"We ended up 15 runs short as my wicket was crucial and we lost our way."
Earlier, spinners Santner (2-20) and Michael Bracewell (2-38) backed up O'Rourke to ensure Pakistan did not post a big total.
Rizwan top-scored with a 76-ball 46, while Salman Agha hit 45 off 65 balls as slow and variable bounce on the National stadium pitch proved tough for batting.
Pakistan lost opener Fakhar Zaman to O'Rourke in the fourth over for 10 and then Saud Shakeel for eight.
Babar Azam looked good for his 29 runs, hitting four boundaries and a six, and reached 6,000 runs scored in one-day internationals when he was on 10.
He was playing his 123rd innings, the joint fastest to reach the 6,000-run milestone with South African Hashim Amla.
Azam fell to a miscued shot off Nathan Smith, leaving Pakistan struggling at 54-3.
Rizwan and Agha, who shared a match-winning 260-run partnership against South Africa on Wednesday, then revived the innings with an 88-run stand.
Rizwan hit four boundaries and a six but he and Agha fell within 19 runs of each other to end any hope of a challenging total.
Tayyab Tahir hit a 33-ball 38, also with four boundaries and a six, while Faheem Ashraf (22) and Naseem (19) added 39 invaluable runs to get Pakistan past 240.

The trial of controversial former Spanish football chief Luis Rubiales came to an end on Friday (Feb 14) by the authorities as a verdict is expected soon. Rubiales, in the spotlight for kissing Spanish female footballer Jenni Hermoso during the 2023 Women&rsquo;s FIFA World Cup presentation ceremony will soon learn the verdict. The incident was met with huge criticism leading to Rubiales&rsquo;s resignation from the post of RFEF chief.
<h2 class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Trail ends in Luis Rubiales kiss row</h2>
"With this, believe it or not, we are done," judge Jose Manuel Fernandez-Prieto told the court in San Fernando de Henares near Madrid after Rubiales declined his right to make a final statement.
The trial in Rubiales case started in August 2023 after the Women's FIFA World Cup in Australia. The former RFEF chief had kissed Hermoso on the lips while on their way to the presentation, sparking a brawl. The incident did not go unnoticed with Spanish authorities opening a sexual assault investigation. After an initial investigation, the case was recommended for a trial in January 2024 by the Audiencia Nacional.
Rubiales told the court on Tuesday he was "totally sure" Hermoso consented to the kiss which was broadcast live around the world, and denied he had put pressure on her after the incident.
"She squeezed me very tightly under my armpits, she lifted me, and when I came down I asked her if I can give you a kiss, and she said 'OK', that's what happened," he said, describing the kiss as "an act of affection".

According to the defence, video images of Hermoso celebrating and drinking champagne with her teammates in the changing room shortly after the incident prove the player was not upset by the kiss, it added.
Rubiales resigned in September 2023 after FIFA suspended him and Spanish prosecutors opened an investigation into alleged sexual assault. He had been the federation chief since 2018.

<h2 class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Sri Lanka humiliate Australia</h2>
Having taken a 1-0 lead in the two-match ODI series, Australia were handed a stern challenge to chase 282 runs to win the second ODI. However, Australia lost wickets at consistent intervals with a patched-up team. Only three batters got into double figures for the Aussies with captain Steve Smith (29), Josh Inglis (22) and Travis Head (18) amongst runs.
No Aussie batter showed any resilience with the bat as Dunith Wellalage (35/4), Wanindu Hasaranga (23/3) and Asitha Fernando (23/3) helped Sri Lanka win the match and the series.
Batting first, Sri Lanka&rsquo;s Kusal Mendis (101 off 115) led the charge along with Charith Asalanka (78) as they helped the hosts reach 281/4 in 50 overs. Nishan Madushka (51) and Janith Liyanage (32) also made healthy contributions for Sri Lanka.

Australia are facing a crisis before the start of the Champions Trophy 2025 as they will be without frontline bowlers like Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc. Marnus Labuschagne&rsquo;s form is also a concern for the side as they try to end their 16-year drought for the Champions Trophy 2025.

South Korean international footballer Hwang Ui-jo on Friday received a suspended jail term for filming sexual encounters with a woman without her consent, the country's Yonhap news agency said.
The 32-year-old former Premier League forward, who pleaded guilty in October, was handed a one-year jail sentence suspended for two years.
<h2>Hwang Ui-jo gets suspended jail term</h2>
"Considering the seriousness of the social harm caused by illegal filming crimes, it is necessary to impose a strict punishment," Judge Lee Yong-je said Friday, according to Yonhap.
"Mr. Hwang filmed sexual intercourse scenes against the will of the victim using his mobile phone on four occasions," the judge added.
Asked by reporters whether he had anything to say to the victim following the case, Hwang said he was "sorry".
"I personally apologise to football fans and genuinely feel very sorry," said Hwang, who was a reserve for Nottingham Forest before moving to Turkey.
The Seoul Central District Court declined to confirm the ruling when contacted by AFP.
The scandal came to light when Hwang's sister-in-law posted private explicit videos of Hwang in an attempt to blackmail him in June 2023.
She is now serving three years in prison for blackmail.
Prosecutors had asked the court for a four-year jail term for Hwang when they made their closing arguments in the case in October.
The court Friday noted Hwang's acknowledgement of his wrongdoing and his remorse in handing him a suspended sentence, according to Yonhap.
The fact that a third party distributed the footage on social media without his involvement was also taken into account, the news agency said.
Hwang had been charged with illegally filming sex without his partners' consent on four occasions between June and September 2022.
Two victims were initially named, but Hwang was convicted on charges related to only one, Yonhap said.
Hwang, who has featured more than 60 times for South Korea and now plays for Alanyaspor, had initially claimed he was innocent before admitting the offences in court.
He last played for his country in 2023 and local reports suggest he may now no longer be able to do so because of his conviction.
The Korea Football Association's regulations state that a member can be expelled for committing sexual offenses.

Team India is all set to begin its Champions Trophy 2025 campaign in less than a week as they bid for their third title in the tournament. Australia&rsquo;s Spencer Johnson is hoping to replicate Mitchell Johnson&rsquo;s performance in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 as the side prepares for the coveted tournament. Derailed with injuries, Johnson will have a huge role to play in the Champions Trophy as Australia will be without skipper Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Starc as they are ruled out due to injury or personal reasons. The Aussie pacer will be one to watch out for as his side bid for the second Champions Trophy title in Pakistan.
<h2 class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Johnson dreams of replicating Starc</h2>
&ldquo; While the ball is swinging, it&rsquo;s (the approach) pitch the ball up and try and hit the stumps,&rdquo; Johnson said after his side&rsquo;s defeat to Sri Lanka in the opening ODI.
&ldquo;Guys like Trent Boult (New Zealand) and Starcy, left-armers who are aggressive, hopefully it&rsquo;s what I can bring to Pakistan. It&rsquo;s something I have pictured in my mind, come in and play a similar role to him (Starc). There was a bit of nerves there. I think I am better for the run, it&rsquo;s only my third ODI, hopefully a few more and I&rsquo;ll be able to replicate some of the stuff he&rsquo;s done,&rdquo; Johnson added.
On Wednesday, Starc decided to pull out of Australia&rsquo;s Champions Trophy squad owing to personal reasons while injury has already seen Cummins and Hazlewood sit out of the tournament. All three pacers have been pivotal to Australia&rsquo;s success in the ODI format having helped them win the 2015 and 2023 ODI World Cup.

James Tarkowski struck in the 98th minute to salvage a 2-2 draw for Everton against Liverpool as four red cards were issued after full-time on a dramatic final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park on Wednesday.
Liverpool edge seven points clear at the top of the Premier League but were denied a vital win by Tarkowski's blistering strike after Mohamed Salah put Arne Slot's men in front.
Everton's Abdoulaye Doucoure, Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, Slot and his assistant Sipke Hulshoff were then sent off as tempers flared at the final whistle on a night Liverpool will come to regret if they do not go on to lift a record-equalling 20th English top flight title.
"Very tough," said Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk. "We saw the celebrations they had in the end so we know how much it meant for them but the fact is it was disappointing for us."
Everton are set to move to a new 53,000 capacity stadium in Liverpool's Bramley Moore Dock next season and gave their home since 1892 a night to remember against their local rivals.
"Mental probably sums it up," said Everton boss David Moyes. "A brilliant finish for us, to finish the last Goodison Merseyside derby and score in the last minute is in a way fitting."
Liverpool's quest for a quadruple came unstuck with a shock FA Cup exit to second-tier strugglers Plymouth on Sunday.
Slot made 10 changes as he resorted to his strongest available side with Salah and Van Dijk among those who had been afforded the weekend off.
Everton's own FA Cup exit to Bournemouth on Saturday had punctured some of their momentum since Moyes' return for a second spell in charge.
The Toffees had won their previous three Premier League games to pull nine points clear of the relegation zone and got off to a flying start.
Liverpool were caught napping on 11 minutes by a quick free-kick by Jarrad Branthwaite to free Beto, who beat Alisson Becker for his third goal in two league games.
The visitors could have been swept away in the feverish atmosphere early on but the Reds immediate response was the making of champions.
Alexis Mac Allister started and finished the move as the diminutive Argentine midfielder ghosted into the penalty area to head in Salah's teasing cross.

<h2>Salah strikes</h2>
Everton then suffered a huge blow as their creative hub Iliman Ndiaye limped off in tears after a long stoppage.
The first half never recovered its flow amid a flurry of fouls and yellow cards as the Premier League fixture with the most red cards in history threatened to boil over once more.
The home crowd briefly erupted once more when Branthwaite fired home only for the celebrations to be cut short by the offside flag.
Slot was growing visibly frustrated with his side's lack of penetration going forward and turned to his bench for an impact with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jones and Darwin Nunez sent on to find a winner.
The changes worked as Salah delivered what looked like a potential title-clinching moment.
Jones and Nunez exchanged a one-two and when the former's shot was blocked by Branthwaite, it fell kindly for Salah to prod in his 27th goal of the season.
Only a brilliant save by Jordan Pickford crucially denied Salah a second late on.
And Everton rallied when Liverpool failed to deal with a hopeful ball into the box and it fell to centre-back Tarkowski to fire into the top corner.
A lengthy VAR check followed for offside and Everton fans had to be cleared off the pitch before the game could restart.
When it did there was more fireworks as Doucoure and Jones were both shown sent off clashing after the Everton midfielder celebrated in front of the travelling Liverpool support.
Slot and Hulshoff also saw reds for taking their protests towards referee Michael Oliver too far after the game.

Premier League: Liverpool held by Everton, four red cards in fiery last Goodison Park derby

Harry Kane was on target as Bayern Munich beat Celtic 2-1 in Glasgow in the first leg of their Champions League play-off on Wednesday, while there were also wins for Benfica, Feyenoord and Club Brugge.
Bayern are hoping to go all the way to this season's final, which will be played at their own Allianz Arena in Munich on May 31.
They threatened to run riot against the Scottish champions at Celtic Park as they dominated the first half and took the lead just before the interval thanks to a superb Michael Olise strike.
Bayern's second goal came just four minutes after half-time, with the unmarked Kane scoring with a cushioned finish at the back post following a corner.
It was Kane's seventh goal in this season's Champions League, and his 29th in 29 games in all competitions.
However, the Bundesliga leaders took their foot off the pedal after that, allowing Celtic -- who had a first-minute Nicolas Kuehn goal disallowed for offside -- to come back into the game.
Brendan Rodgers' team pulled one back as Daizen Maeda scored following a corner with 11 minutes left, but they could not find an equaliser.
"It's cliche to say, but it's the first half of the game. Overall, it's a really great result," said Bayern coach Vincent Kompany, according to the BBC.
Celtic's first home defeat since December 2023 leaves them facing a huge task to try to turn the tie around in Germany next Tuesday, with the winners going through to face either Bayer Leverkusen or Atletico Madrid in the last 16.
"It's only a one goal difference. It's a big challenge, we know that but it's still a possibility," insisted Rodgers.

<h2>Controversy in Bruges</h2>
Elsewhere, Vangelis Pavlidis scored the only goal as Benfica won 1-0 away to Monaco, as the home side were forced to play much of the second half with 10 men.
Benfica had won 3-2 in Monaco in the league phase in November and they came out on top again at the Stade Louis II thanks to a Pavlidis strike just after half-time.
It was the Greek international's sixth goal in his team's last five Champions League outings, a run which includes a hat-trick in the dramatic 5-4 loss to Barcelona last month.
Monaco had Libyan midfielder Moatasem Al-Musrati sent off in the 52nd minute, when the recent signing from Besiktas gestured to the referee calling for a yellow card after his teammate Breel Embolo had been fouled, only to be handed a second caution himself.
Benfica will hope to finish off the tie in next week's return, with the winners facing either Liverpool or Barcelona in the last 16.
In Rotterdam, Feyenoord shook off the sacking of coach Brian Priske on Monday to beat seven-time European champions AC Milan 1-0 and gain the upper hand to take to San Siro for the return.
The Dutch side were helped by a clanger from Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who allowed Igor Paixao's speculative third-minute shot to ricochet off his body and into the net.
That was the only goal of a match played in driving rain at De Kuip.
"These evenings are why we do this," said Feyenoord captain Quinten Timber.
"De Kuip was on it again. We were on it. On to next week," he added, with Inter Milan or Arsenal awaiting the winner in the next round.
Earlier, Club Brugge beat last season's Europa League winners Atalanta 2-1 in Belgium thanks to a controversial stoppage-time penalty.
Ferran Jutgla gave the Belgian side a 15th-minute lead as Atalanta were punished for sloppy play at the back, but Mario Pasalic headed in an equaliser for the visitors before the break.
That looked to be that until the hosts were awarded a penalty at the death when substitute Gustaf Nilsson went down after being caught in the face by the outstretched arm of Atalanta defender Isak Hien.
The contact appeared to be accidental and not serious, but the referee stuck by his decision after reviewing the images, and Swedish forward Nilsson swept in the penalty.
"I've only just seen the footage and I reckon that if you ask 100 people if that was a penalty all 100 would say no. It's very strange," complained Atalanta's Charles De Ketelaere.
Whoever wins that tie will face Aston Villa or Lille next.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma failed to build on his Cuttack heroics as he was dismissed for just 1 by England bowler Mark Wood in the third ODI in Ahmedabad. Playing at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Rohit was sent packing quickly by Mark Wood. Needing just 14 runs to reach 11,000 ODI runs, the Indian captain will next take the field in the Champions Trophy against Bangladesh on February 20 in Dubai.
<h2 class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Rohit Sharma departs cheaply</h2>
After playing a match-winning 119-run knock in Cuttack, Rohit fell prey to Mark Wood on the first ball of his spell in the second over. In a ball moving away from the body, Rohit did not judge the flight and was caught by wicketkeeper Phil Salt and departed early.
He had faced plenty of criticism in the build-up to the Champions Trophy for lack of form and inconsistency. However, just when the situation had eased, the 37-year-old had another poor showing.

With India 6/1 after Rohit&rsquo;s dismissal, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli helped India back into the contest. At the time of writing, India were 120/1 with Gill playing on 60 and Kohli also slamming a fifty with an unbeaten 52. The pair had stitched an unbeaten partnership of 115 runs as India looked set for a big total.
Interestingly, England had asked India to bat first having won the toss as it looked to avoid a clean sweep. India currently lead the series 2-0 and have momentum heading into the Champions Trophy 2025 which begins on February 19.

Manchester United are set for another round of layoffs as the cost-cutting measures tighten under the reign of Sir Jim Ratcliffe. According to media reports, United will lay off around 100 more employees having previously axed 250 employees in 2024. The cost-cutting measures are being implemented to free up cash for United in the transfer market as they also battle the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules (PSR).

"Ultimately, football is a business but there are hundreds of people who work tirelessly behind the scenes who contribute to any club's success,&rdquo; a source exclusively told The Sun.
"Morale is already on the floor after last year's job losses. This will come as another big blow."
In 2024, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS Group Limited acquired a minority stake in Manchester United and have been in charge of the football side of things. The club has lost a significant amount of cash through their poor transfer deals in recent years, meaning sustainable measures were necessary for the club to move in the right direction.
In July, around 250 employees were made redundant from a workforce of 1150 people as they continued to balance the account sheets. The club has lost around &pound;300mn ($373mn) across the past three years as they now look to avoid PSR charges.

The situation is not helped by the on-field performances as the club is on course for its worst season in the Premier League era. United currently sit 13th in the table with 29 points from 24 matches and have already lost 11 matches so far in the season. The club was knocked out of the League Cup by Spurs while they narrowly won against Leicester City in the FA Cup over the weekend.
Their best run has come in the Europa League where Ruben Amorim&rsquo;s side finished third and is one of the favourites to win the competition.

Australian left-arm spinner Matt Kuhnemann has landed himself in trouble as he has been reported for a suspected bowling action, Cricket Australia confirmed on Wednesday (Feb 12). Kuhnemann, part of Australia&rsquo;s Test squad during the Sri Lanka away series will undergo independent testing at an ICC-accredited centre with Brisbane as the likely location. This comes after the leg-spinner bagged 16 wickets in the two Test matches against Sri Lanka in Galle.
<h2 class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Kuhnemann reported for suspected bowling action</h2>
"The Australian team was notified of the match officials' referral following the second Test against Sri Lanka in Galle and will support Matt through the process of clearing this matter," a CA spokesperson said.
"Matt has played 124 professional matches since his debut in 2017, including five Test matches and four One-Day Internationals. He has played 55 Big Bash League games since 2018.&rdquo;
According to ICC rules, bowlers are permitted 15 degrees of flex in their actions. However, according to a report submitted by the ICC match referee, Kuhnemann has exceeded the angle and won&rsquo;t be allowed to bowl until he is cleared by an independent panel.

Luckily, Kuhnemann is not part of the Australian squad for the Champions Trophy while the side&rsquo;s next Test match is in June against South Africa in the World Test Championship (WTC) final. This will mean, the spinner will have plenty of time to improve his bowling action and become eligible to bowl. In five Test matches so far, he has bagged 25 wickets with a best of 16/5.
The WTC final will be a golden opportunity for Australia as they look to defend their title. Australia won the WTC final in 2023 beating India in the final while their latest quest will be at the Lord&rsquo;s Cricket Ground as South Africa target their maiden title.

Chelsea striker Sam Kerr was Tuesday found not guilty of causing racially aggravated harassment after calling a British police officer "stupid and white".
A jury at Kingston Crown Court in London cleared the Australia captain in relation to the incident in southwest London on January 30, 2023.
Kerr, 31, and her partner, West Ham midfielder Kristie Mewis, had been out drinking when they were driven to Twickenham Police Station by a taxi driver who complained they had refused to pay clean-up costs after one of them vomited, and one of them had smashed the vehicle's rear window.
At the police station, Kerr became "abusive and insulting" towards police officer Stephen Lovell, calling him "stupid and white".
A jury returned the not guilty verdict after deliberating for more than four hours since Monday.
Judge Peter Lodder said after the verdict: "I take the view her own behaviour contributed significantly to the bringing of this allegation."
The Australian showed no emotion during the reading of the verdict but gave a thumbs up to her lawyer after the judge had left.
"Following today's not guilty verdict, I can finally put this challenging period behind me," Kerr said in a statement.
"While I apologise for expressing myself poorly on what was a traumatic evening, I have always maintained that I did not intend to insult or harm anyone and I am thankful that the jury unanimously agreed."
Football Australia welcomed the verdict and said it would speak with Kerr to "reflect on learnings from this matter".
"We will continue to provide appropriate support for her moving forward," it added.

<h2>Power and privilege</h2>
During the trial she denied using "whiteness as an insult".
Kerr and Mewis told the court how they felt "dismissed" by Lovell after explaining how they had been "trapped" in the back of the taxi and "held against our will".
Kerr, who is of mixed race, told the jury: "I believed (they) were treating me differently because of what they perceived to be the colour of my skin -- particularly PC Lovell's behaviour."
She added: "I was trying to express that due to the power and privilege they had, they would never have to understand what we had just gone through and the fear we were having for our lives."
Prosecutors originally decided not to charge Kerr, the court heard.
It can now be reported that Kerr's legal team attempted to get the case thrown out at a preliminary hearing, arguing there had been an abuse of process by prosecutors.
Speaking during the hearing on January 14, Forbes said the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) had violated its own guidance, adding that a "loophole" in the victims' right of review scheme was used to justify prosecution proceedings a year after the alleged offence.
During the trial, it was put to Lovell that he only provided a statement alleging that Kerr's comments had caused alarm or harassment after that decision.
In his first statement to prosecutors the officer made no mention of the "stupid and white" comment having an impact on him, the jury was told.
Police submitted a request to review the CPS decision not to prosecute, and it responded that the outcome would be limited to an apology, the court heard.
Prosecutors later requested further evidence and a second statement from Lovell was provided in December 2023, mentioning the alleged impact.
He read a section of the statement to the court, which said the comments made him "shocked, upset, and (left) me feeling humiliated".
The charge was authorised later in December 2023, nearly a year after the incident.
Kerr made her debut for current Women's Super League champions Chelsea in 2020. She is currently out of action with a knee injury.
In November, Kerr and Mewis were subjected to online homophobic abuse after announcing they were expecting a baby.
Chelsea said they had received "unacceptable and hateful homophobic comments" and Chelsea women's coach Sonia Bompastor called the abuse "crazy".

Australia have been dealt another blow in their Champions Trophy 2025 preparations after star bowler Mitchell Starc pulled out of the tournament owing to personal reasons on Wednesday (Feb 12). The information was confirmed by Cricket Australia&rsquo;s (CA) chief selector George Bailey who added that he respected the player&rsquo;s decision. This comes after skipper Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood had already been ruled out of the Champions Trophy 2025 due to injury concerns. In another major development, Steve Smith has been named captain of the ODI side for the Champions Trophy 2025 ahead of Travis Head.

"We understand and respect Mitch&rsquo;s decision,&rdquo; chair of the national selection panel Bailey said on Wednesday.

Starc pulling out of the Champions Trophy means Australia will have to do without their three frontline pace bowlers as they are already without Cummins and Hazlewood. The trio was instrumental in Australia&rsquo;s 2015 and 2023 ODI World Cup success, but will now have to rely on other options.
