Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has been ruled out of the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to a stress fracture in his leg.
His absence will be a major blow to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who are already reeling under pressure of having a weak bench strength.
The team is entering the XIth edition with only 19 players in its squad.
Starc was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for a whopping Rs 9.4 crores at the IPL Player Auction in Bengaluru in January this year.
The franchise will soon have to look up for a good option to replace the pacer.
The injury has also kept Starc out of Australia's fourth and final Test against South Africa in Johannesburg today.

Confirming the news, Cricket Australia (CA) took to their Twitter handle and wrote that the left-armer has sustained a tibial bone stress in his right leg and that he would now head home after the series for further injury investigation and assessment.
The 11th edition of the IPL will start from April 7.
KKR are scheduled to play their opening match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 8.
