Hotstar has taken down the episode of "Koffee With Karan" featuring cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul after it got widespread criticism for "inappropriate" comments by Pandya

"Certain remarks/comments made by the guests on the episode 12 of Koffee with Karan may hurt the sentiments of our users/viewers. As a responsible platform, we have removed the episode from Hotstar with immediate effect," Hotstar tweeted on Friday.

The 25-year-old all-rounder had boasted about hooking up with multiple women on the Sunday episode of the Karan Johar-hosted show.

While appearing as a guest for a TV show Koffee with Karan, Pandya made derogatory comments against women in which he said: "When I lost my virginity, I came home and said, "Main karke aaya hai aaj (I did it today)."

After being asked by Johar, why he didn't ask women's name at nightclubs?", Pandya replied that he didn't remember their names, instead, he added that "I like to watch and observe how they move. I'm little from the Black side so I need to see how they move."

After facing criticism, Pandya told the BCCI that he is "sincerely regretful" for the sexist comments he made on the show.

"I made an appearance on the chat show where I have made certain statements without realising that these could be disrespectful and offend sensitivities of viewers for which I am sincerely regretful," PTI quoted Pandya as saying in his statement to the BCCI.

Pandya has apologised for his remarks, saying he got "carried away by the nature" of the show.

Both Pandya and Rahul have been reprimanded by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which is mulling a ban on the cricketers.

There has been no response from the Karan Johar, the anchor the show.
