Local residents informed the police about the accident. The bodies were recovered from the canal, and the deceased have been identified.Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.&nbsp;Local police station in-charge KG Rao informed that 11 bodies have been recovered from the canal. Four people have been rescued safely.&nbsp;UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and directed district administration officials to provide immediate medical care to the injured at the hospital. As per BEML, each high-speed car is priced at Rs 27.86 crore, bringing the total contract value to Rs 866.87 crore.&nbsp;In a recent development, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw responded to Lok Sabha, confirming that Gujarat's section of the corridor, from Vapi to Sabarmati, is slated to be completed by December 2027. “The entire project (Maharashtra to Sabarmati section) is expected to be completed by Dec 2029. However, the Bullet train project is a very complex and technology-intensive Project,” he noted.

The group then headed to Moundsville in West Virginia, where they were supposed to check into Palace Lodge Hotel, before visiting the temple. However, the authorities said that the four never checked into their pre-booked accommodation. The authorities asked people to assist in their search operation. "The Divans have not been seen since Tuesday, July 29th, at approximately 2:45 PM, when they were detected on a Pennsylvania State Trooper's License Plate Reader while travelling south on I-79. Former finance minister and Congress leader P Chidambaram, amid the chaos around the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, has raised an alarming issue as he alleged that 6.5 lakh "migrant workers" were added as voters in Tamil Nadu just after the poll body removed 65 lakh of people from the voters' list of Bihar ahead of the assembly polls. The minister called the situation &nbsp;"alarming" and "illegal". He accused the poll body of trying to change the "electoral character" of states. The Rajya Sabha MP also said that the SIR exercise in Bihar was getting "curioser" by the day. The minister linked the situation in Bihar with that in Tamil Nadu, which will go to the polls next year after Bihar.&nbsp;"While 65 lakh voters are in danger of being disenfranchised in Bihar, the report of adding 6.5 lakh persons as voters in Tamil Nadu is alarming and patently illegal," the former Home Minister said on the social media platform X.&nbsp;"Calling them 'permanently migrated' is an insult to the migrant workers and a gross interference in the right of the electorate of Tamil Nadu to elect a government of its choice," he added in the post.<h2>Chidambaram raises questions</h2>The Congress leader asked the reason behind the addition of migrants in the voters' list of Tamil Nadu. Delhi Police Commissioner SBK Singh on Saturday ordered a ban on sub-conventional aerial platforms across the national capital from August 2 to August 16 in view of the security preparations related to the upcoming Independence Day.According to the order, flying aerial devices such as paragliders, para-motors, hang-gliders, UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles), UASs (Unmanned Aircraft Systems), microlight aircraft, hot air balloons, small-sized powered aircraft, quadcopters, and remotely piloted aircraft have been banned under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.&nbsp;The police commissioner’s order said that such aerial platforms may pose a threat to public safety, VIPs, and critical installations in Delhi during the sensitive period around August 15. The roll had 65 lakh names vanish after an extensive verification exercise. The process of verification was aimed at identifying individuals who had either died or migrated. The poll body will now launch the next phase of the verification that will involve identifying the ‘D’ voters, i.e. doubtful voters. This initiative will focus on two key identification markers and aims to clarify the status of voters flagged under suspicion categories. The people who are under the radar are the ones who have yet to submit the list of documents the poll body asked for to prove their citizenship. If they fail to do so by September 1, they will be subjected to scrutiny. Between 1 August and 1 September, voters and political parties can request the addition of eligible names that were missed or raise objections to names that should not be on the list.<h2>Your Aadhaar Card is NOT your citizenship proof?</h2>Last month, the Election Commission said that Aadhaar is not a document to prove Indian citizenship. Meanwhile, on July 10, the Indian apex court asked the EC for the reason behind the declaration. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) launched a probe into the case and found this clue that led the team to arrest the former Hassan MP.&nbsp;The officials who were investigating the case said in court that “global best investigation practices” were used to gather evidence in the cases, and DNA tests helped them in securing the conviction.&nbsp;One of the investigating officers told the Deccan Herald, “The woman (Revanna’s house help) had left behind the petticoat at the servant’s quarters at the farmhouse where she was raped. We combed the farmhouse and found the petticoat in a cupboard. Semen traces on the petticoat matched those of Prajwal, and the woman’s DNA traces were also found on it. Nobody had touched the petticoat, though three years had passed since the incident. Semen traces deteriorate when there is humidity and moisture in the air. But, in this case, the fluid depositions on the petticoat were intact and that was the icing on the cake for the investigators.”<h2>Revanna was sentenced to life imprisonment</h2>The former MP was sentenced to life imprisonment in one of the four rape cases filed against him on Saturday (August 2). Moreover, the court also imposed a penalty of ₹1 million on him. The court said that the victim will be given a compensation of ₹7 lakh. The special court announced the judgement on Saturday (August 2) against the Hassan MP, just a day after he was proven guilty for sexually assaulting his house help. However, Revanna pleaded in court and claimed that he did nothing wrong. He said that his fast growth in politics was his “only mistake” that led him to his conviction in the rape case. Revanna reportedly broke down in the court when the judgment was announced and said that the women who complained against him were "purposefully" brought forward by the prosecution, and did not volunteer to do so. "They say that I have raped multiple women, but none of the women have come out voluntarily to complain; they came six days before the election (Lok Sabha polls last year)...the prosecution side brought them purposefully and made them give a complaint," the convicted MP said, PTI reported.&nbsp;

We combed the farmhouse and found the petticoat in a cupboard. Semen traces on the petticoat matched those of Prajwal, and the woman’s DNA traces were also found on it. Nobody had touched the petticoat, though three years had passed since the incident. Semen traces deteriorate when there is humidity and moisture in the air. But, in this case, the fluid depositions on the petticoat were intact and that was the icing on the cake for the investigators.” Revanna was sentenced to life imprisonment The former MP was sentenced to life imprisonment in one of the four rape cases filed against him on Saturday (August 2). Moreover, the court also imposed a penalty of ₹1 million on him. The court said that the victim will be given a compensation of ₹7 lakh. The special court announced the judgement on Saturday (August 2) against the Hassan MP, just a day after he was proven guilty for sexually assaulting his house help. According to the report, Suman, a Medical student who went to Georgia to pursue higher education, was detained on his campus and was held for 48 hours before being deported without explanation. Rajesh was detained at the airport upon his arrival. He was handcuffed and was denied access to legal service aid or consular services. Various students on social media claimed that some students of Delhi got their centre in Andaman Nicobar, while some got in Jammu and Kashmir (J&amp;K). One of the students also said that a visually impaired student from J&amp;K was allotted Delhi as their exam centre even after insisting on J&amp;K only.&nbsp;3. Error in question papers: Multiple students raised the issue that there were errors in the question papers. Students said that parts of the questions were missing, and the complaint was left unheard when they raised it in the exam halls.&nbsp;4. Same question papers in consecutive years: Many teachers, while talking to the media, said that several questions from past years were repeated in this year's exam. When the issue was raised, the exam body justified it, saying that it's to "surprise" students who thought a particular question would not be repeated the next year, and they will come unprepared, as a teacher claimed. 5. <h2>The massive protest - and laathi charge on teachers</h2>The angry students and the teachers of India's leading institutes for competitive exams came on the roads, reached places like Jantar Mantar and CGO Complex to protest against the exam body. The teachers claimed that instead of listening to their queries and problems, the police launched a laathi charge on the students as well as on the teachers. They also took teachers into custody and forced them to sit in police stations for hours. &nbsp;One of the protesting students, Ronak Khatri, who is also the president of Delhi University Students Union, told The Indian Express, "I was there at the protest to raise issues of the students. The exam centres were away, several students missed their exams, and there were several technical glitches which did not allow students to perform to their best.” Various clips circulated on social media supported the allegations of students and teachers who claimed that they were mishandled and physically assaulted by police while curbing the protest. The well-known Indian teacher, Neetu Singh, who is known for teaching English for Indian competitive exams, was also among the protesters who were taken into custody for raising their voice against the SSC.&nbsp;“When teachers raise their voices for the rights of students, they are picked up from the streets and taken to police stations. It was submitted that Skylight Hospitality purchased land measuring 3 acres and, valued at crores.There were false declarations in the sale deed that Rs 7.5 crore had been paid when no money was paid. It was paid later in order to avoid stamp duty.Key witnesses corroborate this, ED's special counsel submitted. Zoheb Hossain alleged that the first layer of proceeds of crime was generated through Skylight Hospitality, whose 99 per cent shares are held by Vadra. Hossain submitted that Rs 7.50 crore is shown as the price of approximately 3 acres of land purchased by Skylight through a cheque which was never encashed.This land was later sold to DLF for a higher amount. This part is still being scrutinised, the ED said. The Application for a licence was processed in haste without following the procedure, as witnesses stated in their statement. Hossain referred to the statement of the Prosecution witness concerned with the process.Special counsel also referred to the Statment of Satyanand Yajee, Director of Omkareshwar properties. He knowingly assisted in the generation of proceeds of crime. Yajee knowingly assisted the company of Vadra in acquiring of proceeds of crime.The ED said that there was enjoyment of the proceeds of crime till July 2025, till the time of provisional attachment. Money Laundering continues to this day, despite the arguments.It is a continuing activity as long as the person enjoys the PoC The use of PoC continued through the 7 properties, which were purchased using the proceeds of crime. Therefore, he is vicariously liable also apart from his individual role, the ED said.He was the majority shareholder, beneficial owner, and actual owner, and also served as a director of companies, the ED said.The complaint, filed on July 17, 2025, names 11 individuals and entities as accused, including Vadra, his company M/s Sky Light Hospitality Pvt. Ltd., Satyanand Yajee, and Kewal Singh Virk.The case stems from an FIR registered by Gurugram Police, alleging that Vadra, through his company Sky Light Hospitality, fraudulently purchased 3.53 acres of land in Village Shikohpur, Sector 83, Gurugram, from Onkareshwar Properties Pvt. The annual Amarnath Yatra was Friday suspended till August 3 in the interest of safety of pilgrims as "urgent repair and maintenance works" are being undertaken on the twin routes of the pilgrimage following heavy rains, officials said.&nbsp;On Friday morning, while the pilgrimage remained suspended from the Pahalgam route and no fresh batch of pilgrims was allowed to proceed to the cave shrine, the yatra was allowed from the Baltal route, they said.&nbsp;However, owing to heavy rains, the yatra was later suspended from the Baltal route as well, they said.&nbsp;The movement of the pilgrims remained suspended from the Bagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu for the second consecutive day.&nbsp;"Due to the recent heavy rains, repair and maintenance works are required to be undertaken on the Baltal Axis of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra route. In the interest of safety of the yatris, no Yatra will be allowed on 3rd August from the Baltal route also," Kashmir Divisional Commissioner Vijay Kumar Bidhuri said.&nbsp;He said further updates will be issued in the due course of time.&nbsp;Bhiduri said there have been recent heavy rains in yatra area on both Pahalgam and Baltal axis, and so, maintenance works of urgent nature are required to be carried out on the Baltal Axis following this heavy rainfall.&nbsp;Torrential rains in Kashmir had rendered the roads unsafe, following which the pilgrimage was suspended on both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes on Wednesday.&nbsp;The requisite repair and maintenance works are already being carried out on Pahalgam route of the Yatra, the divisional commissioner added.&nbsp;On July 17, the yatra was suspended due to heavy rains at the twin base camps in Kashmir.&nbsp;So far this year, more than 4.05 lakh yatris have paid obeisance at the Holy Cave shrine, he said.&nbsp;A total of 1,44,124 pilgrims have departed from the Jammu base camp for the Valley since July 2, when Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the first batch.&nbsp;Last year, over 5.10 lakh pilgrims paid obeisance at the cave shrine, which houses a naturally formed ice lingam.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
