
US Defence Secretary James Mattis and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will arrive in India on Wednesday, ANI news agency said.
The news agency added that the two will hold meetings with Defence Minister Sitharaman and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on September 6.
The meeting is scheduled ahead of the 2+2 meetbetween India and US.
The first edition of the much-awaited 2+2 dialogue on strategic affairs between the US and India will take place in Delhi on September 6 during which a range of bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual interests will be discussed.
Under the new framework finalised last year, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will hold talks with Secretary of State Mike R Pompeo and Secretary of Defence James Mattis from the US.
The 2+2 meeting is regarded as the highest political engagement between India and US this year.
The two countries may discuss issues relating to terrorism, designation of International terrorist organisations and individual terrorists, sharing of information, cooperation in FATF.
The meeting may also hold discussions on the listing of more terror organisations as a designated terrorist group.
