Rajinikanth disappointed with Supreme Court verdict reducing water to Tamil Nadu

The Supreme Court on Friday raised the 270 tmcft share of Cauvery water for Karnataka by 14.75 tmcft and reduced Tamil Nadu's share while compensating it by allowing extraction of 10 tmcft groundwater from the river basin
'Superstar' Rajinikanth on Friday said the Supreme Court verdict reducing the quantum of water to Tamil Nadu from Cauvery river was "very disappointing" and urged the state government to file a review petition.
"Since the final verdict by the Supreme Court on the Cauvery water sharing amounts to further affecting the livelihood of the farmers in Tamil Nadu, it is very disappointing," the actor said in a tweet in Tamil.
The actor, who recently announced hispolitical plunge, said that the Tamil Nadu government should take steps to file a review petition on the matter.
The Supreme Court directed Karnataka would get additional 14.75 thousand million cubic (TMC) water and Tamil Nadu would now get 177.25 TMC water instead of 192 TMC in its verdict on the 120-year-old dispute between the states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Earlier, reacting to theSupreme Court verdictin the Cauvery dispute, actor Kamal Haasan said he was shocked at the reduction in the supply of water for Tamil Nadu.
