Google dedicated its doodle on Wednesday to celebrate Teachers' Day and mark the 130th birth anniversary of India's second President, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
Born on September 5, 1888, in Thiruttani, Tamil Nadu, Dr Sarvepalli was an Indian philosopher and statesman who became the first Vice President of the country.
The Bharat Ratna recipient is credited with the formation of contemporary Hindu identity and played a pivotal role in bridging the gap between India and the West by making people understand the basics of Hinduism.
His philosophy was grounded in Advaita Vedanta and in defending Hinduism against Western criticism. He was also a crucial part of India's freedom struggle.
He extensively believed in the power of imparting knowledge and stressed that teachers should be the best minds.
Every year in India, his birthday is joyously celebrated as Teachers' Day to honour him and tens of thousands of those who impart knowledge as teachers.
Dr Sarvepalli breathed his last on April 17, 1975, in Tamil Nadu. He was 86.
