By late Friday, PAAS leaders gave a 24-hour ultimatum to Congress for a final decision.

PAAS is demanding tickets in Patidar dominated areas in Ahmedabad, north Gujarat and Saurashtra.

The Congress had earlier assured adequate political representation to the Patidars. However, it changed its mind after the alleged sex CD surfaced.

The Congress united with the Patidars to garner support from the state's Patidar community.

It had earlier invited Hardik Patel to contest elections in state's assembly elections. To which Hardik replied that it was not a BJP-Congress election. However, he added, " we must unite against BJP".

The Patidar leader joined Congress on a condition that the party would adhere to their demands of allowing reservation in education and government jobs to his community.
