CBSE board examination papers for class XII Economics and class X Mathematics were leaked on social media hours before the examination
Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Prakash Javadekar on Friday quashed all confusion regarding the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) re-examination. The minister stated that 14 lakh class-X students, out of a total of 16 lakh students, will not have to appear for the mathematics re-examination.
"I am amazed to see headlines on some news channels about confusion over retest. Out of 16 lakh students, more than 14 lakh students of Class X will not have to give retest in Maths. This is the final decision," Javadekar noted in a tweet."
According to reports, class-X students from Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Himachal, Punjab, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Northeastern states, Jharkhand, Odisha, Andhra, Telangana, Karnataka, TN, Puducherry, Andaman, Lakshadweep, Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, MP, Chhattisgarh will not take the Mathretest.

Javadekar also noted that a retest will be conducted in Delhi and Haryana only if the police investigation points to a large-scale leak.
CBSE board examination papers for class XII Economics and class X Mathematics were leaked on social media hours before the examination. The tests were supposed to have taken place on March 26 and March 28 respectively.
Scores of students been protesting poor governance and the move to conduct a re-examination. On Friday, the HRD Ministry announced that the re-examination for the Economics paper for Class XII students will be held on 25 April.
"Regarding Class 10th re-examination, as the leak was restricted to Delhi and Haryana, if it at all a re-exam will happen, it will happen only in Delhi and Haryana and a decision will be taken on this in next 15 days. If at all a re-exam is done, it will be held in July," Union Education Secretary Anil Swarup announced.
Meanwhile, the All India Parents Association (AIPA) is likely to file a petition in the Delhi High Court demanding a court-monitored probe in the CBSE question paper leak.
