Sikkim Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Date: Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced the schedule for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The 2024 Lok Sabha election will be conducted in seven phases with phase one to be held on April 19.
The last phase of voting will take place on June 1 and the counting to declare the winner will be heldon June 4.
In Sikkim, the polling is being held in a single phase, on April 19.
Sikkim has one Lok Sabha constituency and a 32-member legislative assembly. In the 2019 general election, Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM)’s Indra Hang Subba secured victory in the lone parliamentary seat.
The 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Sikkim will be held on April 19. Sikkim will also undergo assembly polls along with Lok Sabha polls on April 19.
The Indian National Congress (INC) has nominated Gopal Chettri to contest for the Sikkim Lok Sabha seat, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has namesDinesh Chandra Nepal, a former bureaucrat, as their candidate. Incumbent Indra Hang Subba is running as the candidate for the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha.
In the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the major contenders for the Sikkim seat are Sikkim Krantikari Morcha, Congress, and Bharatiya Janata Party.
Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced this year’s Lok Sabha election schedule on March 16, 2024. The polling will take place in 7 phases, starting on April 19 and ending on June 1. Phase 1 will be held on April 19, the second on April 26, the third on May 7, the fourth on May 13, the fifth on May 20, the sixth on May 25, and the seventh on June 1. The Lok Sabha election 2024 results will be declared on June 4.
The Bharatiya Janata Party won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections with 303 seats out of 545. Meanwhile, the Congress could only secure 52 seats.
