Pakistanis have a problem with Mehwish Hayat's dress in Yo Yo Honey Singh's music video

Not many are happy with Yo Yo Honey Singh’s new song featuring Pakistani sensation Mehwish Hayat. The Pakistani actress who we have seen and loved in many dramas and shows featured in a never-seen-before look in the song and netizens found it “vulgar” among other things.

The Indian rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh debuted a new song titled “Jatt Mehkma”. The song features Mehwish Hayat who is seen looking stunning in a black velvet gown that features a sweetheart neckline and is sleeveless. Upset with her attire andparticipation in the song, netizens slammed her and called her names.

One of the most famous comments came from Pakistani YouTuber Sabih Sumair who pointed out that Bollywood’s ‘item girl’ tradition has reached Pakistan. He went on to allege that Mehwish Hayat had once claimed she would never work in Bollywood or work with any Indian and now seen “wearing vulgar clothes and working with Honey Singh”.

Mixed reactionon social media

Some others took it more lightly with one user joking that Pakistan’s honour would have been saved had Honey Singh offered his huge white fur coat to her.

Meanwhile, the song has also been receiving love from many social media users. While some complimented the song and the concept, others liked the lead couple of Honey Singh and Mehwish Hayat in the music video. One user wrote, “Honey Singh + Mehwish Hayat = international trending,” while another said, “Mehwish Hayat looking stunning.”

Directed by Honey Singh, the video is reminiscent of Hollywood’s gangster films. Dressed in furs and drinking champagne, Hayat and Singh are seen attending a gathering at a large mansion.

Prior to the release of the song, in an interview with Pakistani journalist, Mehwish Hayat said that she was glad for the collaboration and that she has received offers for Indian Punjabi films as well. She said, “There should be cross-border collaborations like this. We are the bridge between people… Artists are the ones who can remove these distances.”
