Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix play Harley Quinn and Joker in the film

Seems like Todd Phillips's sequel Joker: Folie a Deux is not going to have a historic feat like the first part of the movie that was released in 2019.

The movie starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga was released intheatresworldwide on October5. As of now, the movie has earned $7 million in box office previews. However, the 2019 movie earned $13.3 million in the previews.

As per THR, the Warner Brosmovie can earn up to $50 million to $65 million in the opening weekend. These numbers are far less when compared to the original movie, which earned $96.2 million in the opening weekend.

Even then, Joker: Folie a Deuxmaynot achieve a historic feat at the box office and to determine this for sure,we'll have to wait and see.

However, if the early assumptions are anything to go by, the box office run of Joker 2 seems challenging.

After the first part, the expectations from the movie were on cloud nine. Unfortunately, the second film failed to impress the audience with its story. Meanwhile, Joaquin and Gaga's performances have been hailed.

Upon its release in 2019, Joker crossed the $1 billion mark worldwide, becoming the first R-rated film in history to do so.

Joker: Folie a Deux review

WION's film critic Shomini Sen called the movie "dull".

She wrote, ''Joker: Folie à Deux however is a dull, uninspiring sequel. I found the first film disturbing and slightly problematic because of its message. The sequel does not evoke such strong reactions but instead, tests your patience to a great extent. Gaga is underutilized, the sequences are long drawn and the overall pace of the film is sluggish. Not the sort of sequel one would expect after the brilliance of Joker.''Read the review here.
