The first full trailer of Wicked is here and it's all things magical! Directed by Jon M. Chu, the highly anticipated movie adaptation features pop star Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo taking the lead.
On Wednesday (May 15), Universal dropped the first trailer of the movie, giving the audience a sneak peek into the enchanting world of Elphaba and Glinda, who will become the Wicked Witch of the West and the Good Witch of the North, respectively.

Set in the world of The Wizard of Oz, the trailer starts with a shot of Glinda, walking into Shiz University, where the headmistress Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh) pairs her up with Ariana's Elphaba, the popular witch of the university, who was left shocked with Glinda's green skin colour.
Soon after becoming roommates, a special bond forms between Elphaba and Glinda. The two very different wizards form a profound bond as they continue to embark on the adventure in OZ and discover their true personalities.

Describing Elphaba and Glinda's bond, the official synopsis of the movie reads, ''Following an encounter with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their friendship reaches a crossroads and their lives take very different paths. Glinda's unflinching desire for popularity sees her seduced by power, while Elphaba's determination to remain true to herself, and to those around her, will have unexpected and shocking consequences on her future. Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfil their destinies as Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West. ''

Directed by Jon M.Chu, the movie will be released in two parts, with the first half scheduled to hit theatres on November 26, 2024
The movie is an adaptation of Stephan Schwartz and Winnie Holzman’s acclaimed Broadway show by the same name, which itself is adapted from Gregory Maguire's novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West.
The film also stars Yeoh as Shiz University’s regal headmistress Madame Morrible; Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton) as Fiyero, a prince and heartthrob of the university; Ethan Slater as Boq, Marissa Bode as Nessarose, Elphaba’s sister; and Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard of Oz.
