IF movie Exclusive: Ryan Reynolds reveals he had an imaginary friend Pookie

Ryan Reynolds in IF

It's a casting coup if you ask us as actor-director John Krasinski has cast the biggest celebrities in Hollywood to voice characters in his upcoming film, IF. From Ryan Reynolds to Steve Carell, the film boasts an impressive star cast who came together to give us a film that he promises will take us back in time.

Ryan Reynolds plays an important role in a film that revolves around a young girl who goes through a difficult experience and begins seeing everyone’s imaginary friends who have been left behind as their real-life friends have grown up. Making for an interesting concept and one that people from all age groups would relate to, for Ryan Reynolds, saying “yes” to the role was a no-brainer.

Ryan Reynolds told WION exclusively that he had an imaginary friend named 'Pookie'when he was a child. Reminiscing about his childhood, the Deadpool star opened up about his love for 'Pookie'.

Ryan said, “He looked like a teddy bear. My brother Jeff and I shared this imaginary friend back and forth. It was a kind of weird bond we had. It’s something we still talk about today.”

He added, “The concept of imaginary friends is provocative and interesting. IFs are usually created out of necessity. It’s an adaptive coping mechanism for kids who realize that they can’t rely exclusively on their parents for a sense of well-being. They have to find other ways to manage. They seek it by creating their own imaginary friends.”

IF stars Cailey Fleming, Ryan Reynolds, John Krasinski, Fiona Shaw, and the voices of Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Louis Gossett Jr. and Steve Carell alongside many more as the wonderfully unique characters that reflect the incredible power of a child’s imagination.
