In the recently released Nag Ashwin directorial, Kalki 2898 AD, Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of Immortal Ashwatthama. Big B's performance and his look have both been appreciated by fans and critics alike. Da MakeUp Lab's official Instagram handle shared pictures of his transformation and wrote in the caption "Behold the transformation of Amitabh Bachchan Sir into Ashwatthama: a timeless legend brought to life by a legendary actor."

Make-up artist Karandeep Singh shared BTS pictures of Big B, from the sets of the movie and congratulated the team saying, "Congratulations to the whole team of Kalki for mind-blasting opening. We hope you all liked the look of sir Amitabh Bachchan designed by Preetisheel and set makeup execution by me. Here are some detailed shots of his look and behind the scenes."

Makeup and visuals as a mode of transformation

While playing the role of Immortal Ashwatthama, Bachchan underwent hours of make-up transformation in order to achieve the look of Ashwatthma. The movie used a lot of visual effects. While, in some scenes, we see a younger version of Ashwatthama, where by using visual effects, Amitabh Bachchan has been de-aged. Whereas, in some scenes, Amitabh Bachchan has been showed as an eight-feet giant, which symbolises his powers.

Shomini Sen of WION wrote that the film had taken huge references from Dune, Star Wars, Mad Max: Fury Road, Blade Runner and other Marvel movies. Kalki 2898 AD has almost touched the Rs 700 crore mark at the box office which is little more than the film's budget. On Tuesday night, Ranveer Singh watched the film with Deepika Padukone and took to his Instagram stories to review the film. He called the film 'a grand cinematic spectacle' and congratulated the team on its success.

He also added by saying, "Rebel Star rocks! @actorprabhas Ulaganayagan is forever supreme! @ikamalhaasan And if you are a die-hard Amitabh Bachchan fan like me..you just can't miss this! @amitabhbachchan. As for my baby @deepikapadukone You elevate every moment with your grace & dignity. Such poignancy, such poetry, such power. You are beyond compare. I love you (red heart emoji)."

Amitabh Bachchan's upcoming projects

Big B recently starred as Ashwatthama in Kalki 2898 AD a South Indian film. Previously, he was seen in Ganapath starring Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon. A Hindi remake of the Hollywood film The Intern is on the cards, starring Deepika Padukone, also Bachchan's co-star in Piku(2015).
