New update alert! Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, also known as Big B, will be playing the mystical character of Ashwatthama in Nag Ashwin’s epic sci-fi dystopian film Kalki 2898 AD. The film alsofeatures Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani in pivotal roles.

Right before Sunday's IPL 2024 match between Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans, the first look teaser introducing Big B'c character was unveiled by Star Sports. The 21-second clip shows Bachchan covered in dust and seated inside a temple-like structure, wearing an old garb.

Reacting to the teaser, a netizen wrote, "Megastar #AmitabhBachchan’s screen presence is still incomparable." Another commented, "It's so refreshing to see Amitabh Bachchan in a new look." A third user said, "Amitabh Bachchan is playing the role of Ashwathama who was cursed to live forever till the end of Kaliyug with the gaping wound on his forehead to meet Kalki."

Recently, the makers dropped the first look poster of Amitabh's character in the film. While dropping the poster, they wrote, "The time has come to know who he is." Check it out below.

Taking to X, Amitabh shared his thoughts on the film and his experience of working with Nag Ashwin. He wrote, "T 4988 - It's been an experience for me like no other.. The mind to think such a product, the execution the exposure to modern technology and above all the company of colleagues with stratospheric Super star presence." Check it out below!

Other than Kalki 2898 AD, Amitabh will star in Vettaiyan, which also stars Rajinikanth and Fahadh Faasil. The film is directed by T. J. Gnanavel and produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under Lyca Productions.
