ThePlayoffclashes of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) were confirmed on Sunday (May 20) after SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) beat Punjab Kings (PBKS)while the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) clashwas abandonedafter rain played spoilsport. As a result, SRH booked their place in Qualifier 1 against KKRwhileRR will face in-form Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Eliminator. But what will happen if any of those clashesalongwith Qualifier 2 or the final gets washed out?
Until the league stage of the IPL 2024, if any match got abandoned due torainthe points were sharedwith both teams getting one point each. However, in the case ofPlayoffs, the organisers will allot 120 minutes to ensure the matchis completedwith a fair chance for both sides. Ifneededthematchwill be completedwith reduced overs andwiththe use of DLS-method to readjust the targets.
However, if any matchdoes not getcompleted on the same day,a reserve day will be usedto complete thematch. Thematchwillbe restartedentirelyif needed to get a fair result in the contest. The reserve day will be applicable for all fourPlayoffmatchesincludingQualifier 1, Eliminator, Qualifier 2 and the final.
In casethe reserve day also gets washedoutthen the team with better league stage performance will advance to the nextPlayoffcontest. There is a provision for Super Overwhichwill be usedto determine thewinner of thecontest, but will only come into use if there is enough time and good playing conditions.

As per IPL playing conditions: "If any of the Final, the Eliminator, Qualifier 1 or Qualifier 2 matches are tied, or there is no result, the following shall apply:
According to the IPL rule book code 16.11.1 the relevant teams shall compete in a Super Over andifnecessaryfurtherSuper Overs to determine which team is the winner of the match in question; andif conditions do not permit a SuperOver,or subsequent Super Overs within the time available to determine thewinnerthen according to rule16.11.2 the team which, at the end of theSeason, finished in the higher position in the League table will be deemed the winner of the relevantplay-offmatch.
If Qualifier 1is washed out, KKR will enter the final, while SRH will progress to Qualifier 2, where they will face the winner of Eliminator. If the Eliminatoris washed out, Rajasthan Royals will move into the Qualifier 2. If the Qualifier 2is washed out,thenthe second-placed team or the qualifier1loser earns a final spot.If the finalalso iswashed out, thenthe team that topped the table will be awarded the final match and the trophy.
