India beat South Africa by 11 runs in the third and penultimate T20I, in Centurion, on Wednesday (Nov 13) to take an unassailable 2-1 lead in the series. Riding on Tilak Varma's 107* and Abhishek Sharma's 50, India posted 219/6 before restricting Proteas for 208/7. During SA's run-chase, Axar Patel stood tall with a brilliant catch to get rid of David Miller, off Hardik Pandya's bowling, as the video of his effort went viral on social media platforms.

Axar's catch came at a vital time. David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen were in the middle for SA with the hosts needing 86 off the last five overs. In the 16th over, Miller smashed Hardik for a six on the fourth ball and went for another maximum on the next delivery. It was a short-pitched ball and Miller seemed to have timed it well. However, it didn't get the desired elevation. Axar, on the other hand, quickly judged the height of the ball and timed his jump to perfection to claim the catch. After Miller's fall, SA were 142/5 and had a herculean task to win.

Klaasen (41) and Marco Jansen (17-ball 54) kept SA alive, however, the visitors held their nerves to win by 11 runs. Arshdeep Singh (3 for 37) and Varun Chakravathy (2 for 54) were the wicket-takers for India as the Suryakumar Yadav-led Men in Blue now have a 2-1 lead.

After the match, India captain Surya said at the post-match presentation, "Very happy with the way things are going. Aggression and intent is always not about talking. They have made my job easier when I see them bat like that. I feel we are in the right direction."

The series finale will be played on Friday (Nov 15) in Johannesburg.
