Pune, India
India will take on New Zealand in the second and penultimate Test at the MCA Stadium, Pune on Thursday (Oct 23) with an aim to keep the three-match Test series alive. The Black Caps won the series opener, in Bengaluru, by eight wickets and are on the cusp of winning their maiden Test series in India. However, they know that Rohit Sharma-led hosts will come hard at them and won't give anything easily.
Talking about the first Test, India opted to bat first at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, after a washed out Day 1, and got dismissed for 46 owing to Matt Henry's 5 for 15. In reply, NZ rode on Rachin Ravindra's 134 to post 402 and take a whopping 356-run lead. The home team fought back, courtesy of Sarfaraz's 150 and Pant's 99, to post 462 but only managed to set a 107-run target. Eventually, the visitors chased down the target without dropping much sweat, with eight wickets in hand.
Will India be able to bounce back and level the three-match series? Only time will tell...
