She stated that China is on the side of strengthening international ties and has participated in supporting and cooperating with other nations to help stop the spread of the pandemic.

The United States is pressuring its allies and trying to coerce other countries to help it plant accusations against China on issues concerning COVID-19 responsibility, said a spokeswoman for China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday.

Hua Chunying said that some US media reported the United States is pressuring its European allies to stand with it on pandemic responsibility and also to plant accusations against China.

Earlier, renewing his criticism of China on Wednesday over the global coronavirus pandemic, US President Donald Trump said it was the "worst attack" ever on his country.

Trump lashed out at China, continuing a war of words over the origins of the deadly virus that emerged in Wuhan last year.

Beijing says the US wants to distract from its own handling of the pandemic.

China hit back Wednesday at US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo over his claims the virus originated in a Wuhan laboratory, saying he has no evidence.

"This matter should be handed to scientists and medical professionals, and not politicians who lie for their own domestic political ends," China's foreign ministry spokeswoman said.

''Some US politicians repeatedly blame China for domestic politics regardless of the facts. On this issue, countries in Europe and other areas in the world do have a choice to make, not between China and the United States, but between lies and facts, unilateral bullying and multilateral cooperation, and this is a choice that every country faces," said Hua.

She stated that China is on the side of strengthening international ties and has participated in supporting and cooperating with other nations to help stop the spread of the pandemic.

"The answer is obvious, and in fact many countries are already responding with actions. Many European leaders have made clear their support for the World Health Organization (WHO) to continue to play an important role in responding to COVID-19 and strengthening the global public health system.''

The European Union held an international pledging conference on May 4.

''China has actively participated in it and made its own contribution. On the issue of strengthening international solidarity and cooperation in the fight against the pandemic, China has always stood firmly with the United Nations, the WHO and almost all countries in the world, and made every possible contribution. I hope the United States can see its isolation at this time," said Hua.

The deadly virus has claimed 263,831 lives worldwide while infecting 3,755,341 people.
