NASA has announced plans to build a $20 billion base on the Moon, marking a major shift in its Artemis programme. The agency will redirect resources from a planned lunar orbit station to focus on long-term surface operations.
The project aims to establish a sustained human presence on the Moon, with infrastructure, robotic missions and advanced systems planned over the coming years.
NASA’s chief also stressed that the United States “will never give up the Moon again,” signalling a long-term strategic commitment amid a growing space race.
