CM Mamata Banerjee announced the removal of Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal after meeting with a delegation of protesting Indian doctors on Sept 16. The doctors demanded to remove the police commissioner and top health officials after outrage over mishandling of the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in August.
