Keralam Shigella Outbreak: What is Shigella Infection; How Does It Occur
Kerala has issued a high alert after a Shigella outbreak in Kozhikode district led to more than 126 confirmed cases and the death of a four-year-old child. Health authorities have deployed rapid response teams and intensified surveillance in affected areas, including Peruvayal and Kuttikkattoor. Shigellosis is a highly contagious bacterial infection that spreads through contaminated food, water, or poor hygiene practices.
