The Indian High Commission in London has officially confirmed it is providing active consular support to Captain Ajay Pant, the 38-year-old Indian merchant navy officer currently held in UK judicial custody. Captain Pant, a resident of Nainital, Uttarakhand, was arrested on June 14, 2026, following a high-profile seizure of his tanker, the MV Smyrtos, by British Royal Marines and the National Crime Agency (NCA).
