India-Russia Jet Deal: India To Manufacture First Civilian Aircraft Since 1988

Russia-India: Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has entered a landmark collaboration with Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) to produce the SJ-100 civil commuter aircraft in India. The agreement, signed in Moscow on October 27, 2025, marks the first time a complete passenger aircraft will be manufactured in India since HAL’s AVRO HS-748 project.
