India’s Parliament has passed the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Bill, 2026, with the Rajya Sabha giving its approval after the Lok Sabha cleared it earlier. The government says the law aims to ensure dignity and social reform for the transgender community, while opposition leaders have raised concerns over its sensitivity and provisions.
