Assam floods: Heavy rains trigger devastating flooding in India’s northeast; 5 killed in landslides

As the southwest monsoon sweeps across India, heavy rains have triggered severe flooding in the northeastern state of Assam. Deadly landslides struck Kamrup Metropolitan district, resulting in five fatalities within just 24 hours. Floodwaters have affected more than 10,000 residents across six districts. Nearly 2,000 people are affected in urban flood zones alone.
