<p>According to a report in The Philadelphia Inquirer, the school officials had previously instructed students to inform their families that cheering or applause would not be permitted for individual students when their names were called.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, Abdul-Rahman stated that an assistant principal had told the girls just before the ceremony that they could showcase their personal style while walking.</p>

<p>Despite this, when Abdul-Rahman briefly danced over to the principal, Mesi claimed that she had caused laughter in the crowd and, as a result, would not receive her diploma.</p>

<p>Abdul-Rahman's grandmother, who initially shared a video of the incident on Instagram, acknowledged that the graduates and attendees had been instructed to maintain silence."Everyone respected that," she wrote.</p>

<p>"But if someone didn't, how can you punish these young girls for something someone in the audience did?"</p>

<p>A video of the ceremony shared on Twitter stoked massive outrage.</p>

<p>"Appalling that she was not given her diploma," one wrote. "Outrageous behavior from the school."</p>

<p>"I can’t even make sense of this, she’s excited and she should be," another commented. "She did nothing wrong. I don’t understand this world today."</p>

<p>Others, meanwhile, fully supported the school, claiming the student "knew the rules" and flaunted them anyway.</p>

<p>"Lots of schools do this, and have done it for years!" one viewer wrote. "You have a short time to do the ceremony, and if there was a celebration after each child, you would be there all day. You can’t read the next name if there is [noise]. We have to stop making excuses for our kids."</p>

<p>The word&nbsp;'tossed&nbsp;pizza' has&nbsp;a particular meaning. It (usually) refers to a nicely made pizza using a technique possibly unique to the dish. The chef perfectly tosses the dough in the air. It revolves around itself, expanding its edges. It then becomes ready for toppings, sauces and whatnot before being nicely baked in an oven.</p>

<p>Any use of the word 'toss' normally assumes this meaning and forms a mental image which makes us quickly dial the pizza place out of sheer hunger. But New York City has witnessed something that'll impart new meaning to the words 'tossed pizza'.</p>

<p>An interesting&nbsp;Instagram video is being shared on Instagram. The video shows a man holding what looks like a pizza box. You may be forgiven for hazarding a guess that it's a pizza delivery guy. But instead of knocking on a door, he appears to be leaning out of a window high above the ground.</p>

<p>Facing him are two construction workers on a construction lift. The lift is attached to another building and there is a good 100 metres drop between the construction lift and the building with a window pizza guy popping his head out of.&nbsp;</p>

<p>And just when we think that there is an impasse, an insurmountable challenge that'll keep the construction workers hungry for the foreseeable future, the pizza guy hurls the box in the air.</p>

<p>For those of us (everyone!) who know the shape of a pizza box, it's not a huge leap of imagination to determine that it does not remotely resemble a football. It is therefore unlikely that it'll travel straight when tossed in the air.</p>

<p>The box veers in the air like a frisbee and almost goes in the direction of the construction platform.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Remember, the flying pizza has about 100&nbsp;metres of altitude between itself and a resounding 'splat'.&nbsp;</p>

<p>What happens next is why the video is being shared.</p>

Weather Update: Heatwave to continue in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh; Delhi to witness light rains, says IMD forecast

<p>A 16-year-old Indian student created a world record for the longest dance marathon by an individual. Srushti Sudhir Jagtap, a resident of the western Maharashtra state's Latur district, danced for 127 hours in traditional Indian Kathak dance style, deploying Yoga Nidra or 'yogic sleep' to aid her performance for long hours.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Srushti broke the previous record of 126 hours set by Nepalese dancer Bandana Nepal in 2018.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Srushti's dance marathon took place in her college's auditorium, which was "jam-packed with supporters," according to Guinness World Record's Official Adjudicator Swapnil Dangarikar.</p>

<p>Srushti's attempt began on the morning of 29 May and continued until the afternoon of 3 June. Srushti then slept for an entire day.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Srushti reportedly did not take any stimulants to aid her wakefulness during the record attempt, except coffee.&nbsp;</p>

<p>She drank coconut water and ate chocolate to "stay fresh".</p>

<p>The final day of Srushti’s record attempt was particularly hard for her. "My body was not responding," she said.</p>

<p>"All my body parts felt frozen and in pain. But mentally I was focused towards my goal," she added.</p>

<p>"Due to strong practise, I was familiar with all the changes in my mind and body, so I was calm and composed until the end," Srushti added, while referring to the practice sessions lasting up to 126 hours that she had in the run-up to the official world record attempt.</p>

<h2><strong>Guinness World Records guidelines for ‘longest marathon’ records</strong></h2>

<p>According to GWR’s ‘longest marathon’ records, the participant is permitted a five-minute rest break for every continuous hour of activity. These rest breaks can be accumulated if not taken. They were the only times Srushti could sleep or use the bathroom during the attempt.</p>

Srushti took her rest breaks “mostly at midnight,” using the time to nap or talk to her parents “for brain refreshment.”</p>

<p>TikTok creator David Baerten, aged 45, informed his wife and children about his plan of faking his death and they helped him in pulling the stunt by going along with him on the social media platform.&nbsp;</p>

<p>To trick Baerten's followers, one of his daughters wrote on social media, "Rest in peace, Daddy. I will never stop thinking about you. Why is life so unfair? Why you? You were going to be a grandfather, and you still had your whole life ahead of you. I love you! We love you! We will never forget you."</p>

<h2><strong>A 'cruel joke'?</strong></h2>

<p>Many people on the online platform slammed it as a 'cruel joke'.</p>

<p>Last weekend, the family staged a fake funeral near Liege and mourners gathered as Baerten, who goes by Ragnar le Fou online, made his grand entry at the ceremony in a helicopter and accompanied by a film crew.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The TikToker has 162,000 followers and&nbsp;had to face some serious backlash from some quarters.</p>

<p>Explaining his bizarre stunt to The Times, Baerten said that he did so because he wanted to see how his wider family would react after he stated that they had fallen out of contact with the TikTok creator.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"What I see in my family often hurts me. I never get invited to anything. Nobody sees me. We all grew apart. I felt unappreciated. That's why I wanted to give them a life lesson and show them that you shouldn't wait until someone is dead to meet up with them," he said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Baerten has till now not shared the complete&nbsp;video of him arriving in a chopper.</p>

<p>A morgue manager at the prestigious Harvard Medical School (HMS) has been charged with selling stolen body parts. According to US prosecutors, on Wednesday (June 14), Cedric Lodge, the morgue manager, allegedly took dead body parts from his workplace without permission and then sold them. Lodge, 55, has been charged alongside his wife Denise Lodge and five other alleged co-conspirators for involvement in a "nationwide network" of bought and sold human remains.</p>

<p>According to a report by the Boston Globe, the FBI's Boston office said that special agents arrested the Lodges and a codefendant&nbsp;Katrina Maclean without incident. Three other defendants face charges in Pennsylvania, and one was previously indicted in Arkansas</p>

<p>In a statement, US attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania Gerard Karam said, "Some crimes defy understanding."</p>

<p>"It is particularly egregious that so many of the victims here volunteered to allow their remains to be used to educate medical professionals and advance the interests of science and healing," Attorney Karam added.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Appalled to learn something so disturbing could happen: Harvard</strong></h2>

<p>In a joint statement, George Daley, the dean of Harvard University's medicine faculty, and Edward Hundert, dean of medical education, said, "We are appalled to learn that something so disturbing could happen on our campus."</p>

<p>Lodge&nbsp;managed the morgue for Harvard's anatomical gifts program and was fired from his post on May 6.&nbsp;Prosecutors said that from 2018 to 2022, he stole organs and other parts of cadavers donated for medical research and education before their scheduled cremations.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The 55-year-old is accused of taking the human remains from the Harvard site in Boston to his hometown in Goffstown. From here, he and Denise sold the remains to two other accused- Katrina Maclean and Joshua Taylor, who then sold them for profit.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>The indictment</strong></h2>

<p>According to a report by the Boston Globe, a federal grand jury indictment alleged that Lodge spent years diverting organs and cadaver parts that had been donated to the medical school’s Anatomical Gift Program and were supposed to be cremated.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The indictment further alleged that Maclean shipped human skin to Taylor to have him "tan the skin to create leather." Maclean, who owns Kat's Creepy creations, has been charged with trafficking in stolen human remains, among other counts.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On Wednesday, Cedric and Denise made separate court appearances in Concord. They were released on personal recognisance and must appear in federal court in Pennsylvania, where the case is being prosecuted, the report added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Todd Hardwick and Jeff Peterla had to struggle hard after they were called to capture a 10-foot American crocodile that was discovered in the pool of someone's home in the middle of the night&nbsp;in the southeastern US state of Florida.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>The apex predator had slipped into the pool and started making thrashing sounds and waves before the owners called upon expert wildlife trappers to diffuse the situation. Initially, it was&nbsp;Hardwick that tried to drag the crocodile out of the water on the far end but could not make any breakthrough.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Afterwards,&nbsp;assistant trapper Peterla stepped in and attempted to haul the crocodile by its head and finally managed to achieve success. One of the men then stepped across and sat on the crocodile's back, stabilising him so that he couldn't move anymore.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Scientists in a study have found out that fruit flies who are raised in an environment surrounded by their dead fellow mates are more likely to have shorter spans of life than the others who were raised around living flies, reported Guardian.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The research could prove fruitful for humans too as the scientists explore ways how this study can be applied to people, who due to the nature of their&nbsp;jobs, are constantly surrounded by a mournful environment where they are close to the dead. Therefore, the conclusions of the study could be helpful for soldiers in conflict zones and healthcare workers.</p>

<h2><strong>What did the research include?</strong>&nbsp;</h2>

<p>The research was headed by Christi Gendron and Scott Pletcher at the University of Michigan. For the study, the researchers brought up fruit flies in tiny containers filled with food.&nbsp;</p>

<p>To understand how the flies will behave around the dead carcasses, the researchers kept living flies and tasty nutrients in one of the boxes, while in another container, they put freshly dead fruit flies.&nbsp;</p>

<p>They then observed the behavioural changes that took place while feeding insects. The research outcomes suggest that the flies who were raised with their dead comrades died several weeks early in comparison to those who were raised without the sight of dead carcasses.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>The biological changes</strong></h2>

<p>The study further mentioned the biological changes that took place in the insects during the research. Not only did the flies age&nbsp;at a faster pace, they also exhibited other changes, like losing stored fat.</p>

<p>This was viewed by the scientists as flies going through "depression" leading to the changes in their life span. As per the study, the ageing process in fruit flies surrounded by dead flies resulted in shortening up the lives of the flies by about 30 per cent.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Brain neurons&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>The researchers also looked deep into the brain of the fruit flies to draw more substantial conclusions. As per their findings, there is a link between the neurons in the flies' brains and a protein secreted by them.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As more and more neurons got active in the brain of the flies, there was more fluorescent protein these neurons produced. They found two types of neurons, namely R2 and R4. These neurons were seen to be activated in the brains of the flies who were surrounded by dead flies.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Scientists did an interesting experiment to see what impact these neurons will have on the flies who were raised with living flies. When R2 and R4 were stimulated in healthy fruit flies it resulted in cutting short the life span of these flies.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Future research&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>Authors in Plos Biology raised questions, “Could motivational therapy or pharmacologic intervention in reward systems, much like what is done for addiction, slow ageing?”</p>

<p>With the drugs which are already available and approved in the medical field, the research can be tested to see how can human beings benefit&nbsp;from these findings.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In what sounds promising, this study can help find new treatments to slow ageing in humans. “Given our findings,” the authors write, “it seems plausible that the sight of dead conspecifics elucidates a “depressive-like” state that results in decreased longevity.”</p>

The research could prove fruitful for humans too as the scientists explore ways how this study can be applied to people, who due to the nature of their jobs, are constantly surrounded by a mournful environment where they are close to the dead. Therefore, the conclusions of the study could be helpful for soldiers in conflict zones and healthcare workers. What did the research include? The research was headed by Christi Gendron and Scott Pletcher at the University of Michigan. For the study, the researchers brought up fruit flies in tiny containers filled with food. They then observed the behavioural changes that took place while feeding insects. The research outcomes suggest that the flies who were raised with their dead comrades died several weeks early in comparison to those who were raised without the sight of dead carcasses. The biological changes The study further mentioned the biological changes that took place in the insects during the research. Not only did the flies age at a faster pace, they also exhibited other changes, like losing stored fat. As per the study, the ageing process in fruit flies surrounded by dead flies resulted in shortening up the lives of the flies by about 30 per cent. Brain neurons The researchers also looked deep into the brain of the fruit flies to draw more substantial conclusions. As per their findings, there is a link between the neurons in the flies' brains and a protein secreted by them. As more and more neurons got active in the brain of the flies, there was more fluorescent protein these neurons produced. They found two types of neurons, namely R2 and R4. These neurons were seen to be activated in the brains of the flies who were surrounded by dead flies. When R2 and R4 were stimulated in healthy fruit flies it resulted in cutting short the life span of these flies. Future research Authors in Plos Biology raised questions, “Could motivational therapy or pharmacologic intervention in reward systems, much like what is done for addiction, slow ageing?” With the drugs which are already available and approved in the medical field, the research can be tested to see how can human beings benefit from these findings. <p>In a statement, the Colombian army said more than 70 soldiers remained deployed in the dense jungle to find Wilson. General Pedro Sanchez, who headed the search for the children, said, "We're going for Wilson, we’re going to bring him back." The soldiers deployed in the search operation include Cristian David Lara, Wilson's handler since he was a puppy in training.</p>

<p>Instead of traditional managers, they decided to espouse the concept of coaching. And to nobody's disbelief, the results have been remarkable, reported Fortune magazine.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Coaches over Managers</strong>&nbsp;</h2>

<p>The process of changing its management style began when Time Etc asked its new hires about their aspirations and requirements from their managers. To this, the new hires replied with goal-setting, feedback, personal and professional development opportunities, and autonomy. The company deduced that these requirements seemed more like the KRA of a coach, than of a manager.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"We started asking the people we were hiring what they needed from a manager," shares the team at Time Etc. "What stood out was how the list they gave us – goal-setting, feedback, personal and professional development opportunities, autonomy – sounded much more like they needed a coach, rather than a manager," the company was quoted by Fortune magazine.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This drastic step taken by Time Etc comes at a time when there is a very low manager-employee engagement mechanism. As a result, employees often find themselves to be the least prioritised in a company. Gallup’s annual survey of 2022 showed that only one-third of workers reported&nbsp;feeling engaged at work.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The declining employee engagement is also indicative of the fact that it came with declining long-term productivity and employee satisfaction as a consequence.&nbsp;</p>

<p>During the vigil in the Ecuadorian city of Babahoyo on Friday, Bella Montoya suddenly regained consciousness and started breathing normally.</p>

<p>“Her left hand was hitting the side of the coffin, and it was shaking… It gave us all a fright,” Montoya’s son, Gilbert Balberán, told local media, according to Jam Press.</p>

<p>Montoya had died last week from a stroke. Her death certificate declared that she suffered ‘cardiorespiratory arrest due to suffering from an unspecified cerebrovascular disease’, according to BBC.</p>

<p>A doctor on duty had declared her dead after she did not respond to resuscitation, Ecuador’s health ministry said.</p>

<p>Later, the family brought her to a funeral home and were holding a wake on Friday when they started to hear strange sounds.</p>

<p>When they opened the casket, everyone was shocked to find that she was taking a deep breath. A video posted on social media purportedly showed Montoya, a former nurse, breathing in her open coffin and surrounded by two men who came to help her.</p>
