The incident occurred late at night on Monday (Sep 2) when a CCTV camera captured these unusual thieves, wearing vests and underwear, breaking into the premises. Soon the group of these men was named the “chaddi-baniyan gang” (underwear-vest gang) in the locality where the incident happened.

On Monday night, the gang dressed up in minimal clothing entered a home and a college in the area and stole around 70 gm gold, worth $5,954&nbsp;(Rs 5 lakh), and also picked some bananas with them on their way back.

Not only in Nashik, the "chaddi baniyan" gang also gained notoriety over a series of attacks in other parts of the country. Members of the gang typically commit crimes wearing underwear&nbsp;and sometimes carry sharp weapons to scare their targets.&nbsp;

It is not clear if the multiple groups committing such robberies are connected to one big gang, or if the "underwear" attacks are just a modus operandi to mislead investigators.

The gang's theft in Malegaon comes shortly after multiple cases of thefts were reported by a “gown” gang. This gang was caught on security cameras dressed in women's gowns and targeting residential neighbourhoods.&nbsp;

Anne Beaumont, 89, 'died of a broken heart', according to her family, after doctors said her husband, Frank, 91, suffering from dementia, did not have long to live.&nbsp;Anne was in relatively good health when she died, and Frank also passed away nearly 24 hours later after being told of his wife's death.&nbsp;

"They have gone together, they did everything together, you think 'you can't write this how does this happen?'. Well organised, you don't know how you do that but they did it," son Ian Beaumont was quoted as saying by DailyMail.&nbsp;

Frank was admitted to the Greenacres Care Home in Meltham, West Yorkshire, last year after being diagnosed with 'severe dementia' as&nbsp;Anne could no longer look after him at home.&nbsp;

"She didn't want to do that but was really struggling,"&nbsp;said Ian.

After her health deteriorated, Anne was also sent to same home in April this year. Although the husband and wife were placed in different wings of the home, Anne would make sure to spend time with Frank every day. Even though the dementia was severe, Frank still knew who his wife was.&nbsp;

A man&nbsp;who was discovered frozen in a cave nearly 50 years ago in Pennsylvania, United States has now been identified.

The Berks County Coroner’s Office has identified the man as 27-year-old Nicholas Paul Grubb who was from Fort Washington, Pennsylvania.

For a long time, Grubb was known as the “Pinnacle Man" which is a moniker which referred to the Appalachian mountain peak where his body was found by two hikers on January 16, 1977.

When an autopsy of the dead body was carried out, the authorities had not found any foul play and ruled that he died because of a drug overdose, reported The New York Times.

While speaking to the reporters, Berks County’s Coroner John Fielding said that “detectives from the state police and investigators from the coroner’s office” had revisited the case periodically in the last 15 years and compared his information “to no less than 10 missing persons through fingerprints and dental X-rays”.

<h2>Officials find dental links of 'Pinnacle Man' with missing person</h2>

In August 2019, the police exhumed the body of Grubb after his dental records were found to have links with two missing person cases reported in Florida and Illinois.&nbsp;

The body was taken to Reading Hospital where a forensic anthropologist, forensic pathologist and forensic odontologist examined it.

Although the DNA samples of Grubb didn’t match any missing person cases, Pennsylvania State Police trooper Ian Keck in August 2024 found his missing fingerprints.

An hour after the card of DNA samples&nbsp;was submitted to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs), the print was matched to Grubb’s fingerprints by an FBI fingerprint expert.&nbsp;

The government authorities have not yet finalised the name of the city which will cover a 700 square kilometre (270 square-mile) wide area around 45 kilometres (28 miles) east of Cairo.

Initially, it was estimated that the project would cost $45 billion, however, recent estimates suggest that it will go closer to $58 billion.&nbsp;

One of the most iconic parts of the Titanic - the bow deck - has fallen apart revealed the stunning new photos of the ship's wreckage which showed how it was decaying on the seafloor in the North Atlantic.

A zoo in China’s southeastern Guangdong province has thrown up a stunning surprise. Archaeologists have unearthed nearly 150 tombs at the zoo belonging to a range of historical eras. According to China’s Xinhua News Agency, the tombs were discovered between April and July 2024, and span more than 2,100 years of history.&nbsp;

Tombs belonging to the Ming and Qing Dynasties that ruled China between 1368 AD and 1911 AD numbered the most at 120. Four tombs are from the Han Dynasty (206 BC and 220 AD) and eight were from the Jin and Southern Dynasties (265-589 AD). Fifteen of the burials were from the Tang Dynasty of 618-907 AD.

Tombs from the early years of today's China are also a part of the discovery. Researchers say that 48 tombs belong to the Republic of China (1912-49) era.

Researchers are hoping that the discovery of a nearly intact tomb from the Eastern Jin Dynasty and a well-preserved tomb from the Southern Dynasty will help them learn more about the construction technology used by them. The customs followed to decide tomb shapes, stages, and funeral rites during the Six Dynasties period in Guangzhou are also a matter of intrigue.

About 1300 square metres (14000 sq ft) of area at the site was found to be hiding nearly 200 pieces of pottery and porcelain, bronze, jade, and bead ornaments.&nbsp;

Since the tombs belong to varied times in China's history, the discovery of these artefacts can reveal how the cultures changed socially, economically, politically and ideologically over time.

The zoo has been a site of interest for years and several excavations have been carried out since its construction in 1956. Nearly 500 ancient tombs have been unearthed in over 30 locations at the site to date.&nbsp;

Meta AI became the saviour of a 22-year-old woman who attempted suicide in Uttar Pradesh. The video was shared on the social media platform, appreciating Meta’s quick response, which enabled the police to act quickly at the right time and save her.

In collaboration with Meta AI, UP Police have saved up to 460 lives.

It all started from a post by a 22-year-old woman residing in the small village of Sultanpur in Lucknow, which comes under Nigoha Police Station.

In the post, she shared a video on her Instagram handle attempting to commit suicide at 12:11 pm. “In her post, the woman shared her video in which she was seen standing on a chair, with a red-coloured dupatta tied from the ceiling fan to her neck, preparing for suicide. Within moments after the video was shared, we received an alert from Meta AI marking the video under the distressed category. The alert was received immediately, and subsequently, we forwarded the alert to the respective police station,” the UP police official asserted.

Notified of the suicide alert, the police at Nigoha station took immediate action and rushed to her house at the address mentioned in the alert.

“It took around 4 minutes for the team, headed by Station-in-Charge Anuj Tiwari, to reach the given address. The team reached outside the woman’s house at 12:15 pm and rushed immediately inside her house and rescued her,” said Rajnish Verma, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Mohanlalganj, adding that the girl’s condition remained stable.

Manon, a local disapproving of the idea, labelled it as a bad decision, said, “It’s a historic monument, why defile it with rings? It was good for the Olympics but now it’s over, we can move on. Maybe we should remove them and return the Eiffel Tower to how it was before,” he told France Bleu.

One of the social media users on the X platform said that&nbsp;Hidalgo should have discussed this properly before giving the statement.

Hidalgo, who has been a candidate since 2014, is known for her boldness. Being part of the controversy is not a new thing for her.

Sunita "Suni" Williams and Barry "Butch" Wilmore have already been stuck on the International Space Station for three months, and now there are reports of a "strange noise" coming from inside the Starliner spacecraft that carried the two astronauts to space.

On Saturday (Aug 31), astronaut Butch Wilmore radioed the Mission Control at Johnson Space Center about the strange noises he heard.

Nearly 75 countries have defined their Extended Continental Shelf (ECS) limits, which refers to the continental shelf's portion beyond 200 nautical miles (230 miles) from the coast. Till last year, the United States had not defined its ECS.&nbsp;

New geographic coordinates were announced by the US State Department on December 19, 2023, which they claimed was their ECS area.

“America is larger than it was yesterday,” said Mead Treadwell, who is a former Alaska lieutenant governor and former chair of the US Arctic Research Commission, while speaking to&nbsp;Alaska Public Media.

“It’s not quite the Louisiana Purchase. It’s not quite the purchase of Alaska, but the new area of land and subsurface resources under the land controlled by the United States is two Californias larger,” Treadwell added.

The man, who is a resident of Agora Hills, California, was staying at The Venetian post-Christmas last year when the stinging incident took place.

The 62-year-old Michael Farchi said that the scorpion allegedly crawled into his bed and inserted his stinger into his private part as he felt he was being stabbed by a “sharp glass or a knife.”

Farchi also took the images of the scorpion which stung him as evidence. Last week, he sued the hotel and claimed that he had suffered emotional trauma and PTSD because of the incident, as reported by 8 News Now in Las Vegas.

Beyond that, the hotel “owed a duty of care to Plaintiffs to provide a clean, safe, and sanitary room&nbsp;that was free of vermin, bed bugs, or similar things, including scorpions,” said the attorney in the Aug. 27 lawsuit.

Farchi said that the luxury resort was aware of an “infestation of poisonous, deadly scorpions,” as per the suit.

“From our understanding, there was some ongoing construction at the time that this incident happened — just before the incident happened and the time the incident happened,” said Virag.

Farchi is waiting for a jury trial to make a decision over whether the hotel needs to compensate the man for the damages, pain, suffering and mental distress.

On December 2026, Farchi said he woke up after experiencing excruciating pain in his groin.

“I just felt like somebody stabbing me in my private area,” said Farchi, while speaking to 8 News Now. “It felt like a sharp glass or a knife," he added.

With the help of computer software, the woman created false medical documents which included a discharge summary and a maternity certificate, in which she claimed that she had suffered a miscarriage in the hospital.

Shanghai Prosecutor Gong Xiaoting said that the online insurance application system of the country has been designed for convenience and can be exploited illegally by criminals with the help of photo-editing technology.

The woman submitted the online insurance claims twice using forged medical papers and received around 66,200 yuan in maternity benefits.

After every claim, the woman destroyed the related computer records and paper documents.

In 2024, she again made an attempt to use the same method and, with a fabricated miscarriage report applied for more than 40,000 yuan (US$5,600) maternity insurance money, however, her claim was rejected.

She again applied for maternity insurance money in February after the birth of her only child. This time the application was legitimate.

When her document was reviewed, the officials found she had filed five maternity insurance claims in a span of four years and there were various suspicious similarities in the documents. Her case was reported to the police.&nbsp;

The woman then turned herself in and gave back the entire fraudulently obtained money.

"As an older pregnant woman with poor health, I worried about medical costs. In desperation, I impulsively faked miscarriages to get the insurance money. I have already resigned from my job and I deeply regret what I have done," she said.&nbsp;

She was given one-and-a-half-year suspended jail term by the court on August 16 because of her voluntary confession.
