The online community is enraged after a post by a user @disneydoll96 revealed how her mother's manager at work has been incredibly insensitive and pressured her to return to work despite battling stage 4 cancer.

For 18 months, the mother has been battling stage 4 cancer. Despite her serious illness, the manager sent a demanding email requesting a doctor's note confirming her fitness to work and scheduling a meeting for the next day, showing no compassion.

The Reddit user reveals her mother, a shop supervisor, dreams of returning to work someday. However, she's currently facing significant financial hardship after losing her husband. To support the family, the daughter is pushing to complete her studies before entering the workforce.

The post was shared online two days ago. Since then, it has collected more than 37,000 upvotes, and the numbers are still increasing.

In the comments section, the user provides further details about her mother's condition. She explains that "since her diagnosis, she has been relying on illness benefit, which amounts to roughly 200 euros a week."

Recently, she had to switch to disability allowance because illness benefit has a limited claim period.

"She can claim these allowances while holding her job, which is always protected here, unless she decides to leave herself. She has been on chemotherapy for a long time now, but I genuinely believe she will make a recovery. She hasa lot of fight left in her,” the daughter said.

The other users expressed ire at the manager's selfishness. The comments ranged from suggesting the employee record meetings to expose the company's behaviour to condemning the lack of empathy.

"I am so incredibly sorry about your mother. I just noticed you're also from Ireland. I am from Cork. You should post this in the Ireland sub and the county sub too," wrote one user.

"I wish karma had real power. Like bullying a disabled person, karma gives you nightmares based on that disability until you've learned your lesson. Every night, horrid nightmares occur. People would certainly be nicer to each other," commented another user.

“Some people are so disconnected it's disgusting. I hope your mom has the capacity to dismiss the awful boss. It's not fair, and it sucks. Some people are just evil,” a third user wrote.

“Her treatment plan? This is all wildly inappropriate,” added another.
