The latest UFO was flying eastward at an altitude of approximately 43,000 feet (8 miles)-45,000 feet. North American Aerospace Defense Command in a statement reportedly confirmed that the "small balloon" was detected in close coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

"The balloon was intercepted by NORAD fighters over Utah, who determined it was not maneuverable and did not present a threat to national security. However, the ownership of the balloon continues to remain unclear.&nbsp;The sighting of the balloon occurred over Colorado and Utah before being intercepted by US military aircraft, media reports suggested.&nbsp;

A similar incident a year ago sparked criticism from the US Congress for the&nbsp;extended period of time&nbsp;it took for the government to&nbsp;intervene. It was even more controversial as the balloon was in proximity to military installations.

US jets intercept high-altitude balloon drifting across Utah, NORAD says 'no national security threat'

Pentagon’s former chief investigator of unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) Sean Kirkpatrick claimed that the conspiracy theorists who have been working for and within the US government have been perpetuating myths regarding UFOs that millions of taxpayer dollars are being spent into studying a “self-licking ice cream cone”. 
 
The claims were made by Kirkpatrick in a podcast after he stepped down from the position of the first director of the defence department’s all-domain anomaly resolution office (Aaro) last month. 
 
The department was established in 2022 to collect military reports of UAP sightings and to provide more transparency regarding what information the government has. 
 
The first comprehensive historical record report of Aaro was submitted to Congress and will be published later this year, said Kirkpatrick, adding that it contains no evidence of the existence of alien life and not only any government cover-up.&nbsp;

He added that various lawmakers happily embrace unsubstantiated stories which are circulated by “a core group of people” regarding the secret government UFO research programmes. 
 
“They’re some of the same people that have been working behind the scenes with Congress to write legislation,” said Kirkpatrick, in the podcast. 
 
“They’re the same people that worked with a US company and the US army to explore a piece of material that they claim was a UAP and really is a piece of missile casing from the 1950s. They’re the same people that have been influencing some of these whistleblowers who have come forward to say: ‘Hey, I don’t have any first-hand evidence, but all these people are telling me this',” he added. 
 
Kirkpatrick did not identify the people by name, but agreed with the observation of Bergen that “the actual conspiracy is being carried out by a group of true believers themselves to get the government involved in the business of investigating aliens”. 
 
“That is a self-licking ice cream cone, exactly. The best thing that could have happened in this job is I found the aliens, and I could have rolled them out, but there’s none. There is no evidence of extraterrestrials. There is no evidence of aliens, and there’s no evidence of the government conspiracy,” said Kirkpatrick.

A flight attendant claimed to have spotted a bright pink-coloured unidentified flying object (UFO) when it apparently passed the aircraft with great speed while flying over Europe. Her&nbsp;family and friends think it is "definitely aliens".&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

The Wizz Air flight attendant told SWNS: "I've been a flight attendant for a year and have never seen anything like this."&nbsp;

She shot a video which shows four bizarre-shaped pink orbs. They are clearly visible in the video in the dark nighttime sky.&nbsp;

The video was filmed on the flight from Luton, England to Syzmany, Poland. The attendant&nbsp;initially didn't notice the pink orbs&nbsp;after filming&nbsp;it, as she thought the&nbsp;video was just a&nbsp;stunning view outside the&nbsp;plane, and put her phone away.

"I couldn't see anything with my bare eyes. But when I checked the video 20 minutes later, I spotted it and I spoke to the pilot to ask if they knew anything,"&nbsp;Denisa Tanase, 36,&nbsp;recalled.

"Everyone was confused — they hadn't seen anything while flying and there had been no turbulence," she added.&nbsp;

"It was a weird shape, like a circle flashing pink. At first, we thought maybe it was a reflection of our pink uniform, but on the video, you can see the motion — you can see it's flying," Tanase further said.&nbsp;

The celestial specimen can potentially hold answers to questions like how Earth became habitable and much more as&nbsp;asteroid samples, are composed of the 'original materials of the solar system' and are considered relics of the early solar system.&nbsp;

<h2>Crashing Into The Moon</h2>

You've heard of car crashes, but 2023 was the year of a space crash. In August, Russia's first moon mission in 47 years failed, with the Luna-25 spacecraft spinning out of control and crashing into the moon.&nbsp;

The spacecraft sought to land on the Moon's South Pole, and collect geological samples from the lunar surface. This was seen as a precursor to the eventual human colony on the moon.

According to reports, the&nbsp;air traffic control (ATC) and people on the ground saw the drones around, after which the three flights — two Air India, and an IndiGo flight — were told not to take off. At the same time, two incoming flights were diverted.

"Due to sighting of an unidentified flying object within Imphal controlled airspace, two flights have been diverted and three departing flights have been delayed. Flight operations commence after receipt of clearance from the competent authority," a statement issued by Airport Director Chipemmi Keishing said.

<h2>Flights suspended for three hours&nbsp;</h2>

The three flights—three flights scheduled to depart from Imphal to Agartala, Guwahati and Kolkata—remain&nbsp;suspended till 6 pm. Another flight from Delhi to Imphal&nbsp;was diverted to Kolkata while a flight from Guwahati to&nbsp;Imphal at 3.50 pm, which was also suspended later&nbsp;departed at 6.50 pm.

"The UFO was visible with bare eyes moving westwards of the airfield till 4 pm," an Air Traffic Control (ATC) official told PTI news agency.

Now, while investigating the unidentified flying object’s source, Loeb stated that explosive energy which was equivalent to 2,400 pounds of TNT was released by the UFO and detected from a&nbsp;10-mile radius.

Andy Mead, who had constructed and designed the system, had reached out to Loeb on October 21 after he saw some strange observations made by the sensors.&nbsp;

“I started getting messages this morning about a 'viral' sound that was heard throughout New England,” stated Mead, in the shared note.

The US-based reports mentioned that the officials said many of the reports by military witnesses "present potential safety of flight concerns, and there are some cases where reported UAP have potentially exhibited one more concerning performance characteristics such as high-speed travel or unusual manoeuvrability".&nbsp;

None of these reports suggest&nbsp;the UAP manoeuvred to an unsafe proximity to civil or military aircraft. However, the report added that the mere presence of UAP in the airspace represents a potential hazard to flight safety.&nbsp;

Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder, who is the Pentagon press secretary, said on Wednesday: "The safety of our service personnel, our bases and installations, and the protection of US operations security on land, in the skies, seas, and space are paramount."&nbsp;

"We take reports of incursions into our designated space, land, sea, or airspaces seriously and examine each one," Ryder added.&nbsp;

The agency is also probing 17 sightings that happened between 2019 and 2022 that hadn't been included in earlier reports.&nbsp;

The US has taken the UFO and UAP phenomenon quote seriously, with NASA convening a group of experts in 2022 to review how data about UAPs is collected. The group in September said it found no evidence that UAPs are "extraterrestrial".&nbsp;

In September this year, NASA officially joined the search for UFOs, but reflecting the stigma attached to the field, the US space agency kept secret for hours the identity of the person heading a new programme tracking mystery flying objects.&nbsp;

The official's appointment is the result of a year-long NASA fact-finding report into UAP. "At NASA, it's in our DNA to explore - and to ask why things are the way they are," agency chief Bill Nelson said.

In an astonishing turn of events, Mexican journalist and ufologist, Jaime Maussan, has ignited a firestorm of controversy by presenting what he claims are the remains of extraterrestrial beings in Mexico City's Congress.

Bill Nelson, Administrator of&nbsp;NASA, said on Thursday (September 14) that the space agency's independent study team set up to look into UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects) or UAPs (unidentified anomalous phenomena), as they are lately being called, did not find evidence that they&nbsp;had&nbsp;any extraterrestrial origin. The report by the team which was set up last year has now been made public on the NASA website.

Nelson, however, said that the finding does not mean that the space agency is denying the possibility of life existing elsewhere in the universe. He even said that personally he believes that extraterrestrial life existed somewhere in the universe which has 'billions of galaxies'.

Though NASA said there was no extra-terrestrial explanation for the UAPs, the agency is naming a new director of research to look more into the UAPs. The study panel has urged that US increase its efforts to look into what are more commonly called, UFOs.

NASA said the new director of UAP research will handle "centralised communications, resources and data analytical capabilities to establish a robust database for the evaluation of future UAP."

The space agency however, did not immediately reveal who would be appointed director of UAP research.

The NASA panel which prepared the report that has now been made public, comprised experts from various scientific fields ranging from physics to astrobiology.

"NASA has a variety of existing and planned Earth-&nbsp;and space-observing assets, together with an extensive archive of historic and current data sets, which should be directly leveraged to understand UAP," the report said.

"Although NASA's fleet of Earth-observing satellites typically lack the spatial resolution to detect relatively small objects such as UAP, their state-of-the-art sensors can be directly utilised to probe the state of the local earth, oceanic, and atmospheric conditions that are spatially and temporally coincident with UAPs initially detected via other methods. Thus, NASA's assets can play a vital role by directly determining whether specific environmental factors are associated with certain reported UAP behaviors or occurrences," the report said.

The new report has called UAPs "one of our planet's greatest mysteries."

"Observations of objects in our skies that cannot be identified as balloons, aircraft or natural known phenomena have been spotted worldwide, yet there are limited high-quality observations. The nature of science is to explore the unknown, and data is the language scientists use to discover our universe's secrets," the report stated.

"Despite numerous accounts and visuals, the absence of consistent, detailed, and curated observations means we do not presently have the body of data needed to make definitive, scientific conclusions about UAP," it added.

The issue of UFOs and UFO sightings has been a topic of popular fascination and even conspiracy theories. The tightlipped response from the US government in past has fuelled wild theories that the government even has aliens in captivity.

In past few years however, the US government has made several disclosures about UFOs, or UAPs as it regards them now.

NASA study rules out extra-terrestrial origin of UFOs, unnamed new chief to lead further research

UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects), or UAPs (Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena) as they are now known, have for decades been a subject of curiosity for humans. Do aliens exist? Are the frequent alien vehicle "sightings" real or not? These questions have long been a head-scratcher.&nbsp;

Back in 2022, NASA commissioned a study team to investigate reports of UAPs.&nbsp;

As per the space agency's website, the study team was commissioned "to examine UAP from a scientific perspective and create a roadmap for how to use data and the tools of science to move our understanding of UAP forward."

<h2>Why this study is important?&nbsp;</h2>

Despite the lack of definitive data, NASA's Dan Evans stressed in the May 31 meeting that studying a topic such as UAP fits within the agency's scientific purview. "First and foremost, it provides an opportunity for us to expand our understanding of the world around us," Evans said. "This work is in our DNA."

The topic of UAP/UFOs has been frequently discussed by the federal government in recent years. In July, two former US&nbsp;military aviators gave testimony concerning encounters with bizarre objects that occurred in controlled US&nbsp;airspace.&nbsp;

The study is not intended to answer all the questions. The researchers are focused on how civilian and&nbsp;government data, commercial data, and other sources could be organised and analysed in the future to shed more light on obscure sights in the sky.

One of NASA's missions is to ensure the safety of aircraft, so this study aligns with that, as well as with the interests of national security in the study of UAPs.

The research will report on which scientific methods should be applied, what else NASA should collect to understand UAP, and what are the fundamental physical constraints on UAP's origins and nature.

The team once held a public meeting on May 31. During that meeting, the group of experts discussed ways through which better data could be collected to help unravel the mystery surrounding UAPs or UFOs. Despite the lack of definitive data, NASA's Dan Evans stressed in the May 31 meeting that studying a topic such as UAP fits within the agency's scientific purview. "First and foremost, it provides an opportunity for us to expand our understanding of the world around us," Evans said. "This work is in our DNA." The topic of UAP/UFOs has been frequently discussed by the federal government in recent years. In July, two former US military aviators gave testimony concerning encounters with bizarre objects that occurred in controlled US airspace. The researchers are focused on how civilian and government data, commercial data, and other sources could be organised and analysed in the future to shed more light on obscure sights in the sky. One of NASA's missions is to ensure the safety of aircraft, so this study aligns with that, as well as with the interests of national security in the study of UAPs. The research will report on which scientific methods should be applied, what else NASA should collect to understand UAP, and what are the fundamental physical constraints on UAP's origins and nature. The Pentagon said on Thursday (August 31) that it launched a website to provide declassified information on Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs), which the government calls unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP). A statement from the US Department of Defense (DoD) said, "This website will provide information, including photos and videos, on resolved UAP cases as they are declassified and approved for public release." The statement said that the website's other content includes reporting trends and a frequently asked questions (FAQs) section as well as links to official reports, transcripts, press releases, and other resources that the public may find useful. The All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) would launch a secure reporting tool on the website to enable current and former American government employees, service members, or contractors with direct knowledge of government programmes or activities to contact AARO directly to make a report. The website AARO's website mentions details about UAP reporting trends, official UAP videos, FAQs, AARO mission overview and new releases. "We look forward to using this site to regularly update the public about AARO’s work and findings, and to provide a mechanism for UAP reporting," AARO Director Dr Seab Kripland said. Dr Kripland added that since the AARO's establishment in July last year, the office has taken important steps to improve data collection, standardise reporting requirements, and mitigate the potential threats to safety and security posed by UAPs. What are UAPs? The government defines UAPs as 1) airborne objects that are not immediately identifiable; 2) trans-medium objects or devices and 3) submerged objects or devices that are not immediately identifiable and that display behaviour or performance characteristics. The Department of Defense considers UAPs as sources of anomalous detections in one or more domains that are not yet attributable to known actors and that demonstrate behaviours that are not readily understood by sensors or observers. The Republican Presidential Primary Debate took place on Wednesday night (August 23). One of the highlights of the discussion was the controversial topic of Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs). Debate moderator Martha MacCallum asked former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie his opinion about a president's responsibility to provide the American public with the truth about UFOs.

"I get the UFO question?" Christie quipped.

Christie, one of the eight potential presidential candidates, said that the job of the US president was to level with citizens about everything. "The job of the president of the United States is to stand for truth," he added.

"Especially coming from a woman from New Jersey, I think it's horrible that just because I'm from New Jersey, you asked me about unidentified flying objects and Martians. We're different but we're not that different," he further told the moderator.&nbsp;

The New Jersey reference made by Christie was about the infamous Mercury Theatre radio broadcast of HG&nbsp;Wells' "War of the Worlds" in 1938 when people believed that Martian tripod machines were rampaging around the countryside near Grovers Mill.&nbsp;

The topic of UFOs has taken centre stage in recent months. On July 26, the House of Representatives Subcommittee on National Security at the Border and Foreign Affairs held a hearing called Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP): Implications on National Security, Public Safety, and Government Transparency.

Three witnesses testified at the hearing- Ryan Graves, David Fravor and David Grushch. Graves and Fravor are former Navy aviators. During the hearing, Grusch claimed he was told about the existence of a "multi-decade UAP crash retrieval and reverse-engineering program" and was denied access to it. This prompted him to file a whistleblower complaint.

Graves, on the other hand, said that UAPs were severely under-reported in American airspace. &nbsp;"These sightings are not rare or isolated. They are routine," Graves said.
