Pavard scored the third goal in the very last play of the game, with a close-range strike from a corner. "The way we won gives us a lot of energy. I don't think Barca were expecting us to be so bold. But the coach has been accused of failing to move with the times, sticking rigidly to outdated tactics.

Despite the dire results, Agnelli has insisted he will not sack Allegri mid-season.

Manchester City are through to the Champions League last 16 with two group games to spare after drawing 0-0 at FC Copenhagen on Tuesday, despite playing the majority of the match with 10 men.

VAR took centre stage in an action-packed first half in Copenhagen. City thought they had taken the lead 11 minutes in with a goal-of-the-season contender from Rodri, only for the strike to be ruled out for handball in the build-up.

The video assistant referee stepped in again moments later to help City win a penalty for another handball, but Riyad Mahrez saw his spot kick saved by home goalkeeper Kamil Grabara.

More than 1,700 Liverpool fans who allege they were injured or suffered psychological trauma as a result of the crowd chaos at this year's Champions League final in Paris are to sue UEFA, lawyers said on Friday.

European football governing body UEFA is facing group action following the showpiece match between Liverpool and Real Madrid in Paris on May 28.

UEFA delayed kick-off by 35 minutes, citing "security issues", with fans subjected to crushes, teargas and street crime.

A French Senate inquiry contradicted initial assertions by UEFA and the French government that Liverpool fans had been mainly responsible for the trouble by not having proper tickets.

The inquiry instead cited a "string of dysfunctions" including a lack of preparation by authorities and UEFA, as well as poorly executed security arrangements.&nbsp;
